  • To be safe, I'd recommend visiting your Dr. I have a misshaped bulge - a large hernia. I wouldn't have known without a Dr.s exam.
  • HI - I just sent in my entry form for an Obed. & Rally trial in March - with great hopes because losing the weight has really increased both my energy and the amount of training I put in with my GSD. I'm surprised at how much more motivated I am.
  • If you like to cook, I think you'll find this one of the most satisfying parts of your journey. There's a whole lot of great meal ideas here and links to wonderful resources like skinnytaste.com
  • When you go on a road trip, with banquet dinners, lots of boozy nights, 6 days of driving with constant salty snacks, hotel breakfast buffets, no exercise, don't log food or even think about choices the entire time and only gain 3 lbs over 12 days
  • There doesn't seem to be much intermittant about you eating habits. You're way under every day this week.
  • Cut in half, with a little sea salt and balsamic vinegar in the center.
  • It's really becomes pretty easy once you figure out the tricks. It does take planning and more prep and cooking work. I did the $3/day Food Stamp budget for all of Lent this year and was surprised at how it changed my approach to food. It actually was a big part of why I started to diet and joined MFP shortly thereafter.…
  • 15 calorie no-sugar Popsicles
  • There was not a single dissenting vote on the platform plank supporting gay marriage at the convention last week in Charlotte. Yay!
  • nothing with caffeine because it's dehydrating. Just water, Crystal Light, herbal tea
  • I actually cook and am trying to be green and clean pretty much at 1200 cal. Look all you want.
  • What!?! Someone so afraid of confrontation that they take the easiest way out to end a relationship? Or so selfish that they figure over is over and it's okay to just explain and leave? Or so self-centered that they figure there's no point in personally communicating or discussing decision because theirs is the only life…
  • Heh - don't dis walking the dog. If it doesn't do anything for someone, they either have the wrong dog or are walking in the wrong places! Even better, I suggest you and the dog walk the sheep (see profile pic)
  • I'm at 233 and want to lose 100 more. It's hard right now because I've hit a plateau and can use all the motivation I can get. Feel free to add me.
  • WAAAAH! My AutoZone doesn't carry the automobile battery juicer attachment!
  • Use a food scale. It's very easy to grossly underestimate the size of the portions we're eating when we start.
  • Heh. I'm 65 and setting myself up to spend the next 20 yrs fit and in good health.

  • I think you get to set your own rules about what eating clean means to you. Whatever those rules are, they're going to be an improvement. There are no extra points given for making your own yogurt (from processed milk) or buying dried beans in a plastic bag instead of the bulk bin. I try to eliminate anything pre-packaged,…
  • They aren't mutually exclusive, you know :-) I have more hardcopy books than one woman will ever need and many that I'd never consider parting with. But I also love to have the ereader for reading in bed (with no lights on), in my purse for short waiting room times, and on public transit. I'm another person who has…
  • My weight loss journey started with a 4-hour surgery to repair an abdominal hernia, so support garments are uber-important to me. (We're about the same size.) I find that undergarments work far better than bands for me with vigorous exercise because they don't shift around. It also helps to go with either boy-cut shorts or…
  • My mental trick is to think of the water as flushing the fat from my system. That motivates me to drink more. Not to be too graphic, but I also make a habit of checking the toilet bowl and if there's any color in my urine, I force myself to immediately drink 12 ounces. It helps.
  • We can't talk someone into feeling something other than what they feel. I totally get that you are feeling that he doesn't value your needs for communication and inclusion, but the Respect St. goes both ways. Consider that he might feel disrespected because he's made his feelings clear and asked you directly to back off,…
  • You've been eating grapes. Throw some into the freezer for snacks. I noticed the Twizzlers in your diary. Try cutting them into half or thirds to cut them down to snack size. You also seem to want something crunchy every day as a snack. If it's a texture thing, look into mini rice cakes. Rather than eating a full size ice…
  • I grow a ton of kale in my garden, so eat lots of it. Google "massaged kale salad" for a lot of great recipes. Basically, you julienne it in shreds, rub them between your palms with a little salt, add a light vinagrette. Or braise it with garlic. Or add it to broth. Sautee some to stuff an omelet. Kale chips (make sure…

  • I would think it's far more productive to talk to the source of the problem (who has no idea he's causing you a problem) than to bring it here or to the landlord.
  • Pasta. It's so much quicker to prepare for a quick meal than a salad.
  • I'm heading out to a birthday party/dinner. I just ate, so I wouldn't eat there. So, my advice to you is go eat a grape or 2!
  • Routine helps a whole lot. When you are trying to fit in exercise, it's easy to procrastinate. I also find that if I pair it with other activities, and do the exercise first, it gives additional motivation. For example, all trips to the grocery store or farmers' market begin with a trip to the gym first for me.
  • How about a substitute activity like game or card night?
