  • I think you might want to ask your Dr. about this. It's not something I've experienced or heard from others (other than the obvious sudden caffeine withdrawal thing). If it persists, it's time to ask a pro.
  • Taking clothes that are now too big to Goodwill!!!!!! Every time I do that I get to myself I'm never going back to "there" again :-)
  • Same thing I'm going to have for lunch today - a wonderful carrot/ginger/lemon soup from skinnytaste.com. Easy as pie to make if you have a food processor and blender or stick blender and yummy. Even with croutons and a blop of low-fat sour cream, under 200 calories and filling.
  • $150/week for 2 people does seem high to me. I spend $40 or less per week for one adult and eat very well. When I really work at it I can come in under $25 a week. The key is no packaged or highly-processed foods and shopping the sales. If I want to come in at the $25 budget I'll do things like make my own yogurt instead…
  • Could it be that you aren't really exerting yourself to your limit when you exercise? Use the monitor to track your heart rate to make sure you are pushing to aerobic exercise.
  • As others have said, you're eating the wrong things. Looking at about 10 days of your diary, your protein is low almost every day. More protein and veg, less fat.
  • No, you're not too young :-) You're quite right that those classes are largely older women, but they are protecting their arthritic joints - a problem you don't have to worry about.
  • Not too hot, please. I'm 2 miles from the Chevron refinery that's burning and we're sheltered in place!
  • Cindy, I'm a professional dog trainer and have done rescue work for over 40 yrs, so I'm going to tell you that the right dog for your family is going to be the one you respond to. There's a whole lot of individual variation within any breed. Here's what I'd recommend: 1. Look into the breed rescue groups for breeds you…

  • Bill, I'd appreciate suggestions on exercise that doesn't stress abdominals too much. I'm a 65 yr old female, 232 lb, with a bad knee, but had surgery putting in an abdominal hernia mesh in March. Last thing I want is to have to go through that surgery again because I've caused the mesh to fail through exercise.
  • Your dad has my sympathy. I'm 65 myself, with abdominal tumors, an iffy knee, and recent surgery, so balance, mobility and endurance are issues. I've found that short time on elliptical trainers works for me because of the low impact. Some of the readily available water exercise classes can be great, but most participants…
  • Winemaker or sailing instructor. But I've been lucky enough (and lived long enough) to have done some really fun ones: Lifeguard Consultant, with a constant travel, foreign and domestic Software designer, started my own company Exec. Director of Humane Society Search & Rescue Dog Trainer Retired!!!!
  • I'm no expert, so take it for what it's worth :-) I agree with the comment that combining Adkins products with Jelly Bellies probably isn't a good ideas, The weight loss you saw this week is probably due to the weekend days when your calories were so low because you were ill. You might try to keep the carbs under 100 since…
  • Hi, I'm 65 and haven't really done any exercise in the 33 lbs since April because of medical issues - but joined a gym TODAY. My goal is to get my butt there every day in August!
  • Congrats! Enjoy your success - don't question it :-)
  • I've found that drinking hot beverages made it easier to not crave my go-to cold beverage, Diet Pepsi.
  • Try adding something high calorie/high nutrition that doesn't feel like effort to eat - like a handful of nuts.
  • I've only lost 1/3 of my goal but it's created a little tension with my DIL who has had numerous attempts to lose weight. The success I'm having seems to make her dwell on her own failures.
  • I started my diet after having major surgery, and am just now recovered enough to start to exercise. I lost the 1st 30 lbs with no exercise at all, so you probably shouldn't worry too much about it.
  • Shows like this are why God created remote controls. You can be the problem with the world and watch it or be the cure and be part of the solution of having it go off the air because nobody watches it.
  • I rotate between 4 breakfasts: - fruit and greek yogurt & tea or a skinny vanilla latte - oatmeal added to the above - 2 egg cheese omelet - banana/strawberry/mango/yogurt smoothie
  • Low, and lower since starting to eat clean. $50 or less per week. I did the Food Stamp Challenge budget ($3 per day) for Lent and it was easier than I thought it would be, but I really had to put in work, thought, and planning.
  • I'm a dog trainer, but own that other demonized breed, German Shepherds. My profile pic is with one of mine earning a herding title on her 9 months birthday.
  • That 4 lb difference is pretty normal for me. Even more fascinating, there's a 1-2 lb difference between the time I get up in the middle of the night to pee and my weight on awakening in the morning. As others have said, that 1st thing in the morning weight is our lowest for the day.
  • Turn that food obsession into a positive. Kind of the other side of logging what you've eaten, planning what you are going to eat can satisfy a whole lot of our food cravings, without the calories.
  • Mike, with all due respect, this should be the one place where someone can come without someone like you telling them something makes them look bad! There also might be 1 or 2 people here who have dealt with rejection (ya think?) and if they are more comfortable asking people to take the step to friend them, so what? We're…
  • Look in the bulk bins of good health food stores for stock or soup base powders. I love both the veggie and fake chicken vegan powders I find in the one near me. (CA unfortunately). But to make up for lack of a brand name, here's a link to a terrific carrot/ginger/lemon soup recipe that works out to 110 cal./cup made…
  • Some people seem to be able to indulge in moderation and for some of us it's a slippery slope to a binge. It's good to know which type of person you are :-)
  • Take a look at whether your craving is the actual double cheeseburger or the ease of pulling into the drive thru and getting something. Maybe try a couple of times to order something more clean and see how that feels.
