You asked how little is too little. In my opinion nothing is too little if it is more than you were doing before. If you aren't exercising at all right now, then just a slight increase will help. Then later you slightly increase that slight increase. Then you do a moderate increase. Then a challenging increase. But for…

I'm only 4'10". The guidelines say I should weigh like 85-99 lbs. I know that just isn't realistic for a big girl like me. I'm also creeping in on my mid thirties so I don't need to look like a teenager. I'm hoping to get down to 120-125 ish. Less is better, but I'm determined to be happy if I get that far.

Yayy!! Congrats!

I think I see your problem. $200 school fees might not be avoidable, but the rest is.

I don't really want to lie though...if I'm avoiding brownies it's because I'm watching my weight (or my sugar), not because I don't like sweets :)

Exactly! I'm still obese and yet when I pass on a second plate of food or don't have dessert people act like I'm starving myself. I'm not starving myself!! I'm eating the proper amount of healthy food. I just don't understand why everyone has to comment on it. I'm trying to do something good for myself. Something they all…

First let me congratulate you for being on MFP for a year; that is fantastic!! Secondly, I understand your disappointment that only six people acknowledged it. However, you mentioned you have about 30 friends. That means that 6 people is 20% of your friends list. Ever hear of the 80/20 rule? 20% of the people do 80% of the…

When I was 29 I made the same commitment you did. By the age of 30 I had lost about 80 lbs. Within a few years I gained it all back. Now at age 33 I am working my way down again. I tell you this as a warning. When I lost all that weight, I truly thought I had figured it out and I would never gain it back. Don't make the…

I once lost close to 80 lbs (I'm working on doing that again), but I never felt thin. People would tell me how I looked so much better or that I was now thinner than so and so, and I just couldn't see it. Our minds play tricks on us. When we're really fat we often don't realize just how fat we are, and when we lose weight…

I was jogging one time when some guys in a red car drove by and screamed, "fat b$*ch!". It felt awful. I wanted to be able to defend myself by saying how much weight I had lost (as if that would have mattered to them). But I had worked so hard to get where I was and people were still looking at me as the fatty. Another…

I have a skirt that I used to not zip quite all the way to the top so that it afforded me a much needed extra couple of inches around. I would then hide the fact that it wasn't zipped all the way up by pairing it with a long top. Yesterday, I easily zipped it all the way! :)

Hi, I'm 4'10" too. I do think it is especially challenging when you're short to keep the weight off. Our BMR is really low!
