Ok, I tried to find any of the threads that I've read that address this. Unfortunately I couldn't find the ones I was thinking of. So I will try to tell you what they said, but I don't claim to have the scientific backup for any of this! Basically, as I understood it, HRM are not accurate when you use them to keep track of…

Ok, intelletually I realize that you were not attacking ME, but as the OP's wife and mother of his 2 children, I FELT attacked when I read this comment. For years we ate out a couple times a week, and cooked at home every other night. Yet we BOTH managed to gain great amounts of weight while eating at home. The problem is…

We're always happy to welcome a couple more! Of course, our events are usually in Kansas, but you're welcome anytime you want to come out this way!:flowerforyou:

I am SO sorry your family was being like that to you! Unfortunately I don't have a lot of advice either, but you are more than welcome to come join my family! We all have different likes/dislikes and allergies/intolerances. No chocolate for those, no bananas for these, no shell fish for this group, sugar free for that…

My first goal was my high school/college weight. I hit that weight, and (because I'm not as active as I was back then) it didn't look as good on my as I'd hoped. After doing a little figuring, I found that at my HS weight, I found my BMI was still overweight and if I lost 11 more pounds I would be at the top of "normal".…

I tend to agree about eating more. Here is a GREAT post that explains WHY you should eat more: http://www.myfitnesspal.com/topics/show/108362-eating-to-fuel-your-body-very-long Here is another post that is just plain good for explaining things in simpler terms:…

Maybe she's referring to the amount of fat in the avacadoes? This sounds interesting. Do you think it would fool the kiddos? I don't know how much avacadoes cost right now, but I may give it a try!

KaeChelle- Don't fret over it. Grab your boot straps and pull yourself back up again. You and I are having a similar problem. You have lost 4 pounds. Not what you want or would hope for, but at least it's the right direction! Take a look at my poor list: May 3: 167 May 11: 166 May 17: 165 May 24: 168 May 31: 169 June 7:…

Awww, I gotta love this guy! (Or at least I'd better since we're married! ) I totally agree with everything else everyone has said. I will add that DH met me at around 175, while I was a HS cheerleader, lifeguard, etc etc etc. Ten years later I was unhappy in my job, 205lbs, and tired from having 2 kids. Yet he…

How was everyone's week? Mine has been hectic but good. I still have one paper I haven't even started on yet for my classes I took earlier in the summer. I have 2 weeks to get it done, which makes it hard for me to feel compelled to write it. (I'm going to join Procrastinators Anonymous tomorrow:wink: ) I just have to…

If you read my profile, and some topics from months ago, I talked about a similar problem. I was a 42G at one point. Uggg. My first weight loss goal was to be able to buy a bra at Walmart or Target. Well, in June I finally achieved that goal! It took the entire school year, and almost 40lbs to do it, but I did. I…

If you know about how many ounces you produce a day, you can enter that in your food diary. It's not in the exercise database, but there is an entry for it in the food database that has a negative caloric value. (It's under "Breastfeeding- Nursing mother.") I know that they say nursing a young infant burns about 500…

Good deal. I believe (and have NO SCIENTIFIC BACKUP!!!!) that your body processes potassium from vitamins differently from naturally occurring potassium. That is what I have always been told, that vitamins were alright, but food was better. (I even had one person tell me that all vitamins do is give you expensive…

Drinking more water does help with flushing sodium. Another thing that helps flush sodium is potassium. Too much potassium is bad for you, but if you're eat anything other than fresh fruits and veggies you probably aren't getting enough. You can track potassium in your diary. The more processed a food is, the less…

When we go camping we eat the same snacks we eat at home. Fruits, veggies, Laughing Cow cheese, nuts, peanut butter, etc. It takes a cooler and ice to keep things cool, but it can be done. I do recommend putting anything you don't want to get wet in a ziplock bag! Eating while camping does not have to be different from…

I love this one, too. I Like to do it with a weight in each hand to add a little extra umph.

I've wondered about the actresses, too. After asking a friend who works in LA (on commercials and such), I found out they call them "C-tucks." Not exactly sure what they do, but its something along the lines of the tuck after the baby's delivered but before they finish closing. Wish I could've afforded it when I had…

I can't be much help either. 2 c-sections and I still have the belly. I've always (and I mean since late elementary school:noway: ) had an issue with the "pooch." Now that I've lost almost 40lbs it's just gross looking. I'm hoping that as I keep it off, and keep working those muscles, the skin with rebound and tighten back…

Sounds like dessert when we get together with the extended family for a swim party Thursday! Use some of our SF flavoring syrups and everybody gets their favorite flavor!

Hello! I will report my weight tomorrow morning. I was not at home this morning, and I'm leary of reporting based on a different scale. Anyway, I had a fairly bad weekend. It was my husband's family reunion and while the food wasn't necessarily UNhealthy, there was just a LOT of it! But I'm back on track today, and…

I don't know if this is necessarily what is happening with you, but typically, when you start a new exercise program (like it sounds like you have just done) you reactivate muscles that have lain dormant. When you don't use muscles, they quit storing glycogen (basically sugar water that gives muscles their energy). When…

As long as they are done in moderation (isn't that the key to everything?), the oils and fats in nuts are good for your heart, brain, hair, skin, nails. . . . The list goes on. SOME fat is required in our diets to keep things running correctly. The key is to pick good fats. Nut fats= good, animal fats= not as good, fake…

One thing I did when I was having trouble hitting my calorie goal (after I had trouble staying within my calorie goal:ohwell: ) was to switch to regular dairy products, and to cut out all the "diet" food. If it says "low fat," "reduced fat," "health," etc., but isn't a natural food (i.e. fresh fruits, veggies, and meats )…

I have had to use all three exercise calorie theories (all, some, none) in order to get where I am. My MIL and SIL neither one lose weight by eating their exercise calories. My husband loses weight best by eating almost all of his. You have to experiment and figure out what is going to work best for you. Give the doctor's…

Well, I admit to stepping on the scale TOO frequently this week. This morning (after 2 days of being careful, and drinking more water) I was down to 167. Hopefully this will stick and I'll still be down for the rest of the week! Now I just need to finish the last paper for my grad classes. Here's to good choices!:drinker:
