  • Finished Week 3 today! I accidentally jogged for 3 minutes instead of 1.5 for the first jog section because I didn't hear my notification to walk...oops. It makes me a little more confident about next week though. Good luck everyone; you're all doing great! On a side note, who else is really nervous that the 20 minute run…
  • I am on week 3 of couch to 5k and on the rest days I swim, strength train, bike, or do Pilates. I did do an extra run once, but that was just because I didn't feel too great about the last day of that week's runs.
  • See a registered dietician (RD). Anyone can call themselves a "nutritionist."
  • What about the crap food in the school cafeteria? I think that needs to be fixed before PE.
  • Although greedy people do make me sick too, as others said, it is fair game if you put it in the office kitchen without a note. I will say that I have seen people back at the office kitchen taking 4-5 cookies out of the basket...that is greedy.
  • We have sweets left over from events or that people bring in all the time. A very sweet person we work for brought dunkin donuts munchkins in specifically for me and two of my coworkers today. I let my two coworkers have what they wanted and then put the rest in the break room--it wasn't as difficult to resist as I…
  • Did Week 3 of C25k at 5:30 this morning. Tomorrow it's my goal to be in the pool at 5:15 and swim about 1000 yards. Friday it's back to C25k. I love the energy I get from a morning workout and the good mood it puts me in! Funny because when I was on the swim team in high school I hated morning practice more than…
  • I spend about $40-50 on just me (maybe 1 or 2 meals I will cook for my boyfriend and I to eat together). I buy almost everything fresh rather than frozen. I live in Chicago--prices here aren't horrible, but it was a huge change when I moved here from a small town in Indiana (and shopped at the super WalMart, which we do…
  • I run nike+ and c25k at the same time. I just start nike+ with no music as a "basic" workout and press start, then I hit the home button, then I open up c25k and start that. It works pretty well for me.
  • I use c25k and nike+ at the same time so I'm sure it's possible. Start mapmyrun, hit the home button, then start c25k. This is what I do with nike+.
  • Try the fage fruit greek yogurts. There is a separate little cup of fruit you pour into the yogurt and stir it and it is seriously the most delicious food--it's like dessert to me.
  • I just have to say I am insanely jealous of all of you people who barely sweat. After working out I am soaked and if it is remotely hot and I don't even move I will still visibly sweat all over my face. If I start walking in heat, I will have wet spots on the back of my shirt...and I am only about 15lbs overweight and a…
  • I am not sure, but realize that doing home workout dvds when you live in an apartment is pretty rude to the people below you. I used to live below a girl who would do them at 11pm and it drove me crazy--it sounded like my ceiling was going to cave in.
  • In my experience, swimming makes you very, very hungry--more so than most other workouts. Have something that will satisfy you that you can eat right when you get home or bring something with you to the pool to tide you over. Something like yogurt or PBJ will probably do.
  • All I ate when I had mine out was applesauce, yogurt, and ice cream--even soup was too difficult for me and cold food felt better on my gums. Frozen yogurt would probably be a good thing to have.
  • I don't really feel the need to give myself rewards. Feeling and looking better is doing it for me. That said, I have been keeping the idea of buying myself flowers in the back of my head...I love fresh cut flowers, but it just seems like such an expensive, unnecessary luxury (and therefore would be the perfect treat).…
  • W3D2 complete! I must have been a little slower because I only went 1.95 miles...oops.
  • Just a thought, the education requirement is a bachelor's degree in dietetics from an accredited institution (generally takes 4 years). A couple of girls in my sorority were dietetics majors and they also had to complete long clinical internships AND pass a bar exam. If you are looking for a quick career change, this…
  • I went to the fair this weekend and had a pulled pork sandwich with baked beans. Certainly not great but I had a very light lunch and went for a run in the morning. I also had a frozen banana for a treat :) As others have suggested, pork chops, turkey legs, and corn are other healthier options.
  • I have brown hair, brown eyes, and olive skin. The only reason I was thinking blue was because it would go with most of my workout clothes (the green would too though) but I would be brighter and more noticeable especially in the dark. But if I wanted to wear it outside of working out, the green would work better for my…
  • Oh my goodness I need to add you as a friend because this is my life. My boyfriend lives with his parents at the moment and so when I go visit him, I stay with him/them and they do not eat very healthy and it is a huge struggle to try to be polite and also healthy. I usually end up not eating very much and being really…
  • I have been averaging around 2-2.5 miles. Eventually we are trying to build ourselves up to 3.1 miles...but for now I am just worried about gaining endurance. Once I finish the program I will start working on distance and speed.
  • Replace it with a good habit! Don't keep junk food in your house and buy some baby carrots or cut up celery or get some unsalted almonds for a healthier evening snack while you wait for dinner. Try going to bed earlier too and you won't be as exhausted--and the wine definitely isn't helping your sleep, so cut that out too.…
  • I suppose I am lucky because I work at a desk from 8-5 and have no husband or kids--I have quite a bit of free time and so I end up spending a lot of it exercising. I would say the easiest way to fit in exercise is to get up early and do it in the morning, or if you are working shifts, get it done before work. On days when…
  • Good for you! It always helps to keep things in perspective. And I bet it felt nice to have such an active vacation--I've heard Maine is beautiful!
  • Week 3, Day 1 complete! I was so nervous about the 3 minute run, but I had nothing to worry about--it wasn't as difficult as I thought. It actually felt really good to not stop running after 90 seconds. Good luck with this week everyone!
  • To all of you people saying "it's not gross, people back in the day had to hand wash everything in a river without soap and just beat their clothes with a rock till they were clean," etc: I have a feeling that due to a lack of cleaning and hygiene people way back when did not smell so good. Alas, I do not think any of us…
  • This is my favorite way to eat it http://thepioneerwoman.com/cooking/2012/02/vegetarian-lettuce-wraps/
  • Yes. I skipped my c25k this morning because I went to bed really late last night and I feel awful about it. The only consolation is that I will be doing a ton of chores tonight including laundry (walking up and down 4 flights of stairs carrying clothes) and I will make up my run tomorrow. I don't really take rest days…
  • When I am sick and having a hard time staying hydrated, I drink pedialyte. I'm not sure about the sugar content, but this might be something for you to consider.
