As someone who spends a lot of time in chlorinated water: If your hair goes green (it may, it may not) it could be because of the dye you use. I've only ever heard of people with very light blonde or grey hair having it turn green. If you want to protect your hair, try using a swimcap and cover your hair in conditioner…

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Calorie Also: Scientists use kJ (kiloJoules) because any other discipline of science uses J och ElectronVolts for energy. For the scientists to be able to collaborate they need to "speak the same language". The calorie is not used in any discipline other than nutrition because of it's…

Also this. It does not only confuse the brain, but other parts of your body as well.

Refractive-Index-Based Screening of Membrane-Protein- Mediated Transfer across Biological Membranes By Brändén, Magnus et al in Biophysical Journal 99, 2010 gives information of different types of sugars, like xylitol and erythriol and their effects on the cell membrane. " Splenda is comprised of the high-potency…

Diet soda is actually worse for you than regular. Fewer calories, but it takes a huge toll on your body. The sweeteners make your pancreas produce insulin to digest sugar, regardless of if it is sugar or not. This leads to insulin resistance and in the long run diabetes. Also: The sweeteners are really crap for your cells.…

I would try to underestimate my exercise, just becuse MFP estimates it wrong. I have a HRM, but it is only accurate above a certain heart rate anyway. Make sure you put a low intensity on cycling and walking, since it is easy to overestimate this. Or use the TDEE apporach and fit it into your daily goals and not eat back…

Why do you want to change this habit? Your body doesn't care when you eat, just what you eat. I have my largest meal at night. I don't see the problem...

Fruit with some dark chocolate? Dark-chocolate gino (substitute dark for the white chocolate and use less). Serve with some yoghurt. Strawberries and milk or yoghurt (unsweetened) Try to find some recipe for cupcakes etc using apple sauce instead of fat. I saw a recipe (in swedish) for raw-food brownies today. They looked…

BMR is your Basal Metabolic Rate, or the amount of calories you would need to put into your body just to maintain your weight if you slept all day. using http://www.fat2fitradio.com/tools/bmr/ I calculate your BMR to be around 1400 calories. You should never eat below this. Are you shooting for 2 pounds/week by any chance?…

Well... Maybe sodium caused you to retain water if you ate out. However: The 80:20 rule is good to keep in mind. If you eat healthy 80% of the time, then the occasional treat (the other 20%) is okay. I, for example, allow myself a piece of chocolate or some other treat almost daily. (Not a lot of chocolate, about 5-10g of…

Maybe except coffee then. I don't drink it myself since it gives my stomach ache, but it is not that expensive if you make it yourself (my entire family except me drinks coffee). And it really is the calorie-heavy drinks which are usually more expensive. One more piece of advice: Eat what's in season. For me this means a…

I am a student to. It is tough making the right choices. Beans are cheap and quite good for you. Any type of vegetable should be ok in pricing (it is in Sweden). Eggs are good and cheap. Drink only water (seriously, it saves money). That means no alcohol, bear, wine, juice or milk in drinking glasses. Cook at home, don't…

Carrot sticks are my go to when studying. And that is a lot of exercise you are doing...

ETA: Fixed the images :flowerforyou: And you look amazing!

I think you can do the math here yourself. You need a deficit of 500/day. You eat 1600, burn 2300-2400. That is 700-800 in deficit. Eat more! (And my TOM was never regular, so I can't answer that)

I do it because I want to be strong and feel healthy. I want to run 10k (I did it on pure stubornness, now i want to RUN it). I want to set good habits for myself. I want to realise what a normal portion is. I want to be hot for my Boyfriend. I want to motivate him to eat healthy and exercise. I want to be "my best me". I…

I have one pece of advice for you: Learn to love yourself! Granted, I was never above a 27 BMI, but I could not find the willpower to lose the weight I wanted to. Then I decided to do a triathlon just for fun. I used to be a swimmer, and I found that exercise really made me happier and more content with my life. After that…

carrot sticks, fruit, yoghurt. Also: Chewing gum. Helps my munchies and I read some study saying chewing helps brain activity.

Shock Absorber, definetely.

My brother is a triathlete. I know no person who eats as much as he does, and he loses weight during racing season because of training and racing. So you need to eat more. (1h running is like... at least 500 calories) You probably need carbs as well as protein though. You need to fill up your glycogen depots since they are…

What do you mean with healthy diet? If you have a calorie deficit, then yes. If you use it as an excuse to eat more (even healthy foods have calories), then probably no.

Depends... I eat 100g boiled when I eat rice. That would be like something like 30g dry. But then I normally eat tons of veg as well, so the rice is there just because it tastes nice.

And I have heard both. Actually more often 20 than 18.5. I have also heard that the 18.5 thing is to make fashion models have a healthy weight or something (probably not true, though). But I know every person I have ever met whose grasp on the subject I trust say that 18.5 is okay if you are young, but dangerous for…

Probably because some sports make it hard to be normal weight. Such as long-distance running. However, I personally know very few adult athletes who are not normal weight according to BMI (even using the stricter 20 limit). Athletes tend to have lower BF% but more muscle (aka lean body mass), making them look really skinny…

You are underweight, so you probably should NOT lose more weight. You might want to try to gain some muscle. It might even out your body composition.

Normal? Depends on what you call normal, I suppose. I certainly do have sweet-cravings occasionally, especially around my period. Hormones are a *****! I try to keep the worst away by eating fruits. I know it is still a lot of sugar, but 50 cals of melon is like 100g, while 50cals of candy is like... 10g. So it…

I work as a swimming instructor, and would not recommend using an ordinary t-shirt. It gets very heavy and constraining when wet. Maybe the type of shirts worn by surfers? They are made from a material similar to swimsuits, so they are not as uncomfy in the water. I think these may be marketed as sun-protection. And, on a…

Well... If your BMR is 1400-something, don't eat just 1200 cals. It will just make you ill.

You and I have the same lives! Also full time (actually 150%) student (grad school physics, tough but so interesting) at a school where we already have a pace of 125% normal full time studies. Supposed to average about 75 hours of studies each week. I also work three nights a week. I have a super supportive boyfriend who…

I wear cotton panties. I hate thongs, so uncomfortable. I usually get my panties from a swedish company specialising in cheap but high quality underwear and socks. Primarily cotton... My big issue with workout underwear is finding sports bras. Hate the jiggly boobs...
