  • This year I want to prioritise more lead climbing and will buy an ohm belay device in order to feel more confident to do so with my regular climbing buddies who are all around 25kg lighter than me. I also want to become a more confident cross country skier and make a start on downhill skiing. Finally my partner and I hope…
  • I went downhill skiing for the first time ever yesterday (I’m 33 and live in Scandinavia, so I’ve been something of an odd duck before). It was heaps of fun, a little frightening but physically well within my comfort range and I’m not even sore today. In fact I’m hoping to be back on the slopes tomorrow after alternating…
  • And the numbers are in - average weight November was 88.26 kg and December came in at 88.01 kg so I’m happy with that. 30 dec is also exactly 2 kg less than 30 nov was, so I feel confident to continue to lose in 2024. Steps will fall slightly short but land at a highly respectable average of 10467 daily in 2023.
  • My mini goal is to maintain my weight for December. I realise that with various commitments, stresses and wanting to partake in holiday treats an expectation of weight loss is not for me right now. My other mini goal is to get my 2023 step average up to 10502 as that would be exactly 1000 steps more than 2022. I’m at 10445…
  • My hiking trousers can almost be buttoned… waiting for that day with bated breath - I believe it’s about 5 kg away if I recall correctly.
  • I want to the hairdresser yesterday and noticed a couple of NSV. 1) the cape didn’t choke me, in fact I didn’t even notice it around my neck 2) my neck looked kind of slender 3) I didn’t feel the least bit self conscious as he was raising the chair. I always used to feel super heavy and like the chair would just give up…
  • I did c25k this summer and have been running with an online running group since. Yesterday the company that runs it had their 10 year anniversary and organised a celebratory run in my city (they also have physical groups). It was billed as a light jog where they adapt to the slowest person in the group but I was still…
  • All my jeans fit! I had to go digging as my frequently used pair was in the laundry and I was looking at the two pairs in my wardrobe wondering which was bigger. Tried on both - no issue and the number on the tag was actually smaller than I recalled! My waterproofs kind of fit too - they’re the type with Velcro openings on…
  • My daily step average for 2023 is now above 10 000 😃 and apple is finally telling me that I’m taking more steps this year than last (2022 was around 9500 daily in the end).
  • Borrowed my partner’s running jacket and it fit over my hips with no issues.
  • I’ve started doing up my bra behind my back instead of having to do it in front and then twist it around. Surely that’s some sort of progress. I remember years ago when I went to see a GP about a shoulder problem and she mentioned that I should come back if it progressed so I couldn’t do up my bra for example. She herself…
  • Think in terms of abilities, not aesthetics. Eg. I want to be able to go on that hike, or try rock climbing or fit comfortably in the seat at X.
  • My average weight last year was 86 kg, so that’s my next mini goal. I’m around 89.5 kg right now.
  • We have a set 5 week, 5 meals per week, menu that is the default for dinner and lunch the next day for my partner and I. Leaves enough room for improvisation while still removing a lot of decision making day to day, and we always know what should be in the pantry. This isn’t a weight loss strategy btw, just a life hack.…
  • My snow pants now definitely need the drawstring used to be comfortable, and today I pulled them on without unbuttoning them first. These are the same snowpants I mentioned a few pages back, which were NSV in january when I was able to start wearing jeans underneath them again.
  • Managed to pick up multiple new bras in the sale. All cute, colourful and (dare I say it) sexy. My new size comes with many more fun options. Side planks is something that just happens in yoga. No hesitation no falling in a heap just a cool pivot, no big deal 💪❤️
  • Browsing a department store and casually trying on size M and size S sweaters (I do believe the brand was quite generous). Even ended up trying a size XS when S wasn’t available which is insane! For the last 2 years I’ve been between M-L (XL jn more high end brands) and most of my life I’ve been solidly in XL/XXL…
  • I enjoy rock climbing and aerial yoga, but regular vinyasa, running and swimming is good too and require less specialised locations. My partner and I signed up for a weekly dance class starting on Monday next week - who knows, maybe that will climb to the top of the list soon 😃 I second AnnPT77 above in that any new…
  • I’m a fan of Heather’s over at the Half Size Me Podcast. She talks a lot about how binge eating needs to be addressed before starting any weight loss. I would recommend that you try her podcast, specifically episodes 547 and 548 where she coaches a lady on this topic. As for motivation unfortunately that is a fickle…
  • Thank you for the thoughtful responses! I’m definitely wary of finding a good studio that aligns with my own approach to yoga and crucially somewhere that successfully teaches for diverse body shapes and make those students feel welcome. I’m open to the idea of a side gig in the future teaching yoga (a was a swim teacher…
  • Welcome back! I have started running at your weight and heavier (115 kg for sure, maybe more). I have no experience with arthritis (please consult a medical professional) but in general I would suggest that you level up your walking by following a C25K program. Personally I used the NHS podcasts but others are available.…
  • I wore jeans while working from home today. Apparently they are no longer a necessary evil reserved for leaving the house. Pyjama bottoms begone from my workday!
  • Walking can be really helpful. I ended up going for 3 longer walks in the end. One right after the incident with a podcast, then met a friend for lunch and we went for a walk also and then after telling my partner in the evening and getting worked up again we went for a walk together. Hang in there!
  • Faced a set back today and had a very teary meltdown as a result but at least I did not eat about it.
  • I was in a good enough mental space yesterday that I could take some new measurements. I’ve was off the wagon for almost 6 months last year due to major life circumstances but didn’t attach any attention to the fact that I am indeed bigger now than at the last entry. Working on keeping a healthy detachment between my mind…
  • I bought some red underwear in the sales last spring but didn’t wear it much and quickly outgrew it. This Valentine’s Day the bra fits without issue!
  • I’ve been on a running hiatus for a while and when I did a couple of runs in November my running jacket wouldn’t fit over my hips. I had to hike it up and inhale to zip up. Yesterday I felt the urge and went for a sunny 5K jog. My jacket fit without issue, no inhale needed and no pushing against my lower stomach when…
  • My snow pants fit over my jeans without issue. This was not the case in December - even while wearing thin tights I had to wiggle and suck in my stomach to button them. Oh and the scale is a lying liar who lies. It claims I’ve only lost 300g between now and then.
  • I’m back on the weight loss train after ignoring creeping weight gain coupled with burn out, have gained around 12.5 kg. Current mini goal is for my jeans to fit nicely again, this time last year they were loose on me 😕 also to zip my running jacket over my hips instead of lifting it to my waist.
  • I wanted to respond to this and say that I didn’t start dating until I was 31. This was for a variety of reasons where weight and self esteem were certainly involved but also because I didn’t feel the need for a long time, instead finding fulfilment in other parts of life. I met my partner within 6 months and we have now…
