I wanted to come back and post an update: On Saturday I had a padel game (like a tennis/squash hybrid) and afterwards one of the women I play with asked/told me that I had lost a lot of weight. She then followed up by asking how much I had lost and I told her (without feeling uncomfortable). She also said I looked radiant…

@thelastnightingale, @speyerj and @GetZet thank you for posting, it’s nice to know I’m not the only one 😊 Onwards and downwards!

While I have some weight/measurement goals written down my day-to-day and month-to-month goals are habit driven. Things like daily yoga practice, avg 10K steps, distance and pace targets for running, food routines. I would suggest you create some type of habit goals in parallel to your ultimate goal weight/item of clothing…

This is amazing, well put!

I want my average running speed for the months to be less than 7min/Km. right now it’s 7:02, in September it was 7:21.

I hope so. I kind of just want these last few years to fade away. Yes, I recognise that this is not the healthiest outlook to have. I guess I hear those compliments with an echo of “it was so bad before”. But yes, I do enjoy the more casual compliments that occur time to time. Yes, I try to give people the benefit of the…

I’ve been thinking about taking up swimming again and the other day I decided to try on my old swimsuit from high school, a Speedo EU44. It fits! But I was also doing a bit of online shopping and noticed a steep discount for a new swimsuit and thought that perhaps I could reward myself. I checked the Speedo size guide and…

Honestly I would focus on your diet for now. When you have limited time to spend an hour in the kitchen for meal prep is going to be a lot more impactful than an hour spent running (I.e I can burn around 1000 kcal running, but meal prep easily allows me a 5000 kcal deficit for the week). As things progress you may be able…

That having gone from 135kg to 86 kg (healthy BMI will be 77kg) I feel fatter than before in some ways. Whereas I used to be fat all around I can now clearly see various parts of my body and external fat deposits clinging to them if that makes sense. It’s weird. Not necessarily discouraging, but weird.

If you can get to an aerial yoga or other anti-gravity class you get a lot of core work while in suspension. Also it’s a lot more fun than floor work 😂

Ok so this is a bit scale-y: this morning MFP told me I’m 75% to goal! Of course I had to actually go to check what my supposed goal weight is, turns out it’s a bit lower than I remembered so that’s good news on my progress.

After reigniting my ashtanga yoga practice in late July I did a headstand today for the first time. I did it against the wall for safety as I’m in home practice, but I didn’t really need it so I’ll work my way to the middle of the room in the coming week or two.

Somewhat surprisingly I hit 87kg this morning. New mini goal is 85kg, a nice round number. My other mini goal is to log a 10K run under 7 min/km. current PB is 7:01.

There is a size M dress in my wardrobe from a brand where I used to be 2XL.

All my favourite yoga clothes are from Sweaty Betty. Excellent quality, stays put and generally very pretty IMO.

I really want to to lose 2 kg to reach my lowest recorded weight of 87kg (2014) during October.
-
I weighed the same today as I did 1 September. NSV: I’m not upset about it. My average weight was 3.45kg lower during September compared to august. I lost cm in my calf, thigh, upper arm and hips. I will persevere.

Did my lunchtime 5K at a pace of 6:46 min/km. that’s the first run I’ve recorded sub 7 min/km

I was on a zoom call with someone who I haven’t spoken to since before COVID and he commented I had lost weight and looked good. I think this is quite a NSV since the video is face only, so while I’ve lost a significant amount in the last year I think it’s more obvious when you see all of me 😊

I went by our office yesterday (we have been WFH since March) and ran into our cleaner. She commented that I looked very nice and had I been on a diet? I really appreciated getting some external validation. Another NSV might be that I’m obsessed with getting new clothes. I’ve favourited a bunch of stuff on my favourite…

The jeans that onlfy started to fit in august are getting lose in the waist and a bit saggy. I’ll have to pick up a belt sometime soon.

I would suggest skipping breakfast to see how you like that, and perhaps you could limit yourself to 1 cup of coffee? I used to roll out of bed and into my yoga mat but have found I like it better to get up and have a cup of coffee before I get going. Nothing wrong with that, but I set a firm start time to adhere to avoid…

Same - I can add that to my list of reasons!

I’m single and live alone, so while I have a full time job my other responsibilities are limited. I currently work from home and the majority of my workouts don’t require transportation, no way I could do 2-a-days if I have to travel 30+ min each way. I do get up an hour earlier than most of my colleagues (kids or not) and…

I understand and I applaud you for running consistently on an 0.86 mile loop! I have low tolerance for repetition so I’ve just continually expanded my various loops through the neighbourhoods in different directions. Is that an option for you? Sometimes I’ll just zigzag the streets for added distance. Depending on where…

Personally I enjoy a lighter evening meal from time to time. An omelet, avocado toast with a poached egg or a grilled sandwich (either cheese or hummus+kale) will do it for me. For an omelet you can slice/dice veg ahead of time and store in Tupperware. I like to boil a an extra potato or two earlier in the week to toss in…

I did some food prep yesterday which will make it pretty much effortless to stay on plan with my meals this week. I don’t do the whole pre-portioned thing but I’ve prepared the main component to be reheated and then just doing a quick salad and rice when it’s time to eat.

This is a slightly weird one, but my heart rate monitor now fits underneath my sports bra without issue. It has a rather bulky “computer” thing in the front, and to get the sensors to read properly it used to be a balancing act right on the edge of the bra. Realised the other day I can wear it higher now and just have it…

I’ve lowered the bar for my workouts at the moment. Running is about getting distance in, not hitting a specific pace. Yoga can be a short practice as long as I get on the mat. Committing to my workouts is like magic - it just gets me on the right track for my food as well.

Honestly I think you’d do better to learn and enjoy plant based foods in their own rights instead of searching for meat substitutes. If you love your beef burger, maybe that doesn’t need to be the first to go, but start swapping out other meals and recipes for plant based ones. I started out by inverting meatless mondays,…
