I lose slowly, if at all over the month and as soon as my period starts I start losing like billyo - last cycle I lost 4lbs in 5 days. It means I look forward to them starting for the first time ever in my life.

I have a high instep (arch) and walking barefoot for me was no good. I wore shoes with good arch support all the time until it was gone. No more problems since then.

I'm 47 and what you see in my ticker came off from from July last year through to today - still working on it...

People with a lot to lose can go lower than BMR, from what I understand, as they have a lot of fat they can mobilise to use as extra fuel. However, as you lose weight you should revaluate and up calories to meet BMR, then as you become leaner go above to TDEE-20% or whatever you aim for. In your case, I would probably aim…

No chocolate, no sweets. Only eggs I ate were out of a chicken.

All fruit is carby - that's the nature of them - try berries as they are somewhat lower, blueberries for example are good with porridge. Bananas are good fruits to eat though as they are more filling and potassium rich. I love cherry tomatoes as a snack.

If your scale is one of those you stand on and it measures via electric current, then if your water content increase (i.e. body water %) then body fat % has to decrease. It's a seesaw - you need to be sure to be equally hydrated each time you use it. They're not accurate enough for anything other than long term trends…

Yes, I kept 1 skirt & 1 pair of trousers - I try them on every so often to remind myself how I used to be. They both drop to the floor if I let go now... ;) It's a good feeling.

As soon as they were no use I recycled them (assuming they were in good condition) or I binned them. No fall back position for me...

I had 6 boiled eggs for lunch last Saturday, fresh out of the pan and hot - tasty and nutritious! The yolk is the best bit... these came straight from my neighbours chickens.

MFP sets people to 1200cal/day because everyone comes in and sets it to 2lb/wk loss - no matter how much they have to lose. That sort of loss is only really going to happen for the very overweight. For those with a small amount to lose, 1 or 0.5 lb/wk is more suitable. Basically, if you get given 1200 calories/day, you…

I know someone who had terrible asthma, his doctors got him into yoga - helps train the breathing and also keeps you active/flexible. Maybe you could try that? Also maybe a certain amount of (not too heavy or body weight) weight training to keep the muscles working (squats, wall push-ups)?

Here's the rule of thumb I've been working with, when it comes to setting desired weekly loss: If you have less than 15 lbs to lose 0.5 lbs/week is ideal. If you have 15 -25 lbs to lose 0.5 to 1.0 lbs/week is ideal If you have 25-40 lbs to lose 1 lbs/week is ideal, If you have 40-75 lbs to lose 1.5 lbs/week is ideal, If…

Just one thing - if she goes in the same spot each time, try getting some puppy pads for that spot - it should help with cleaning up.

That - or is he neutered?

You know what you need to do to win back his affections...

Nadia is a dead thing on legs if you feed her this diet.

Far too much salt for a cat in that case.
-
I wouldn't eat that - I'm not surprised the cat doesn't want to.

My two have always been free fed. They are both fine - weighed twice yearly at the vets and maintain a stable weight and they are both 14 now.

Thanks - It's taken since mid-July last year - slowed down a lot now though as I get closer. Still not completely sure where I'll stop yet - I was aiming for 140lbs (which is where I was in my 20's) but I seem to have more lean mass now, so that may be unrealistic.

Eat half to 3/4 back - because then you are not double booking calories - when you exercise you are adding onto calories that would have been used had you sat on the sofa instead. The 1800 calorie allowance you get has your deficit built into it (500 a day if you are going for 1lb/wk loss for example). If you exercise…

I had to buy a new rabbit...

Yep - not so good when you're single.

A boob lift, judging by the deflation I see. ;)

TOM = time of month - just for those who don't know. ;)
-
I bawled like a baby at the start of Up! - It was a bit close to home for me...
-
Yep, the week I bleed is the week I lose ~3lbs. I think it's my body giving up the fight and dropping some water... I look forward to my TOM.

Just to encourage you - I'm 47, and I started my weight loss mid July last year. I have no idea where I am re: menopause but my mum had an early one. So far my periods are still there but can vary between 3 and 5 weeks between. I have endometriosis so in some ways I am hoping menopause will help with that...

I suspect sweat is more a result of external temperature, than exercise. I live in Aberdeen and barely sweat at all when exercising - that's 'cos it's baltic most of the time. Live somewhere hot & humid and you pretty much sweat all the time.
