Be honest with yourself. When I first got going, my husband and I went out and I craved something high in calorie count. He advised me to fudge my calorie counter a little to accommodate it. But the thing is, if you do that, you're cheating no one but yourself. Likewise, if you're plateuing, reexamine what you're really…

I get rid of them as soon as they don't fit and have been replaced. I do have a couple things from my heaviest to remind myself of my progress and as a deterrent to slipping and gaining it back. While I know it may be practical to keep fat clothes it just feels like admitting eventual defeat.

Chesapeake. A lot of us here, isn't there?

This is really eye-opening. I thought I'd get it spot on but I was 5% smaller than I perceive myself to be. People at the gym had been saying such, but I just discounted it, thinking they were just being supportive and encouraging. It's really amazing how the mind sees the body, even after months of losing weight.

Oh I forgot Stiff Little Fingers! How could I?

My favorites are older punk bands. The Clash and Dead Kennedys. Yessssss. The apex of punk. Swingin Utters I always enjoyed. Guttermouth. WIZO. I don't think I even have to say Flogging Molly. I mean, that's just assumed right?

The dress is actually from Burlington Coat Factory. I was so excited to finally wear it. I'm just...blown away by the kind things people have said here. It's really amazing the way random people, strangers really, can band together and be so supportive on these forums. It shows the best of wo/mankind. And this time next…

Thanks everyone! @Kayemmgee5 : I'm proud of everyone here. The first step is the hardest, and I know that everyone here right now has made that first step. Everyone can make it!

When I started running a few things helped. I've got skin and fat, and I didn't want it flopping around getting in the way (and also, I'm self-conscious, sadly), so I found that tighter compression/workout pants were great to hold my belly in place. Also the importance of a good, supportive bra cannot be understated. I…

I am 5'7" and I weigh about 168 pounds. I don't think I look as good as others do at a similar weight, as I still have a "fanny pack" and its sister "littler roll." I'm a pear shape, and I carry the majority of it in my butt, sadly. My goal is 150 and my ultimate goal is 135-140. here's an imgur album:…

See this is what I don't understand. Most people my weight (171 atm) seem to be a size 12, 10....well I'm a 16. I can fit into a 14 but I get muffin top. WTH. It's very frustrating.

There's a work of fiction written by a doctor called "Still Alice." It's about a woman who has early-onset Alzheimer's and what her life is like. how it changes, how the disease progresses. Good example of how a patient may feel, what may happen, etc. as well as being a great read.

I love words. Congrats on your recognition. Must be an awesome feeling.

I have wondered about this too. Since I usually go to bed at 3 or 4 am, eating nothing past 8 or 9 is out of the question. A trainer once told me, in passing, that one shouldn't eat carbs so late. My SO says it doesn't matter, as long as I'm under my calories, which is my general attitude. I would not eat an hour or two…

I plan on entering it in, but not staying below my calorie goal as usual. I will probably still go to the gym to offset it some, but I don't plan on depriving myself. This is a once-a-year thing and I can't physically eat like I used to anyway.

When I started (before MFP) at 260 I had over 100 pounds to lose. I have 26 pounds left to go (from 110 to lose with a goal weight of 150). I would sure love to give some support/tips/encouragement to those whose goals matched mine when I started. Please feel free to add me.

I'm in southern VA (Hampton Roads). Belong to Anytime Fitness. Close enough? I will send an invite!

I started at 260 (or more) pounds in March of 2011. I decided to shape up, so I went to the gym. I didn't watch my calories, and usually only did the treadmill for 45 mins or so, and not at a very high speed or incline. I was down to 236 in late July. From that point on, I went to the gym with more gusto, but still didn't…

That's so awesome for you. It will more than likely also open up the range of styles you can buy! Although I have to say that there are many more styles, and cute clothes, available now than when I was younger and fat (still fat now, just older too lol). To save money, I personally shop at thrift stores, knowing that any…

I second this! I loved that movie when I was a kid. But it is from the early 90s, and it is a kid's/teen's movie.

I haven't the foggiest how I'm supposed to react, and so I overreact. Like when a guy asked for my number I said I had no telephone at all and no access to any telephone, cell or landline. Mostly, it's just that I've been pretty unattractive the majority of my life, and so I wouldn't know how to proceed if asked. I'm not…

Chewing gum, especially if the offender's mouth is open. Now, I am not a violent person. Far from it. I abhor violence. But that sound makes me want to punch kittens.

To Germany: Weimar or Berlin. Probably Weimar. Berlin is awesome but Weimar is so pretty.

I live on a bay and I hate seafood. My boyfriend and his family love it. One day for dinner we had steamed crabs in their shells. GROSS. We had to hack them and smack them and pull legs and such off to get at the meat.

Truly amazing. What a transformation! Congrats and good on you for sticking with it, and for all your hard work. *high fives* And, as an aside, your hair is so pretty and healthy-looking, and I want! Do you do anything to it?
