dtpss - I have been doing resistance training and I've been focusing on my upper body. In the past I have had problems with numbness and pain after riding long distances. As for general shoulder problems, no. I have been trying some different adjustments to the fit of my bike and it seems to be helping but I still have the…

Yin - Well, apparently I'm NOT the only one with that issue, LOL! Thanks for finding that. The irony is what I used yesterday is almost exactly like the link you sent. It's one of those 3M, fine sand paper block things you get at Lowe's or Home Depot. I think I'll buy another one now.

LPH - I did some googling and saw much of the same opinions about those particular brakes but it sounded like if the pads were swapped out they were ok. I did a little experiment before tonight's ride. I sanded down my pads on the front and the back. Then I took the sandpaper lightly around the gripping surface of the rim,…

I did 23 more today, only 144 of 400 to go :-)

Yin - Good advice, I'll try grinding them down again, it's not going to hurt. narak - I just checked with the LBS about getting some Kool Stops for my bike. I really hope those help. Did you get the Salmon colored ones or the Black? lph/narak - they are Cane Creek 3's, the have the offset pull arm, they came on my bike…

Yeah I have had several mechanics look at it but they say it's normal. They aren't carbon rims but they are a semi-aero rim? DT swiss 1850's.

I have 2 actually, I just remembered I had a new one from Christmas that the BF bought me. Geez I'd forget my head if it wasn't attached. Must remember to wear the new one.

OK as of today another 25 miles :-) Now up to 233 :-) Only 167 to go, Holiday is coming up so maybe Friday, Saturday and Sunday I can get in some longer rides.

208 of 400 miles

163 of my 400 hmmmmmmm.... if this weather will work with me this COULD be done, LOL!
-
Yeah same here, I was worried someone might misinterpret this as dilly dallying around on the machines.

This cold snap is killing my mileage. I have only done one other spin class to get another 25 miles. I started doing more treadmill thinking I would get some 'real' riding in soon enough :-) I'm only at 142 of my 400.... grumble grumble grumble

I try to do 8-10 reps in 3 sets. That being said I try to make it hard to get to the last rep each time. Sometimes by the 3 set I have to let up a little weight. I am trying to get some definition however so I don't mind if I bulk up a bit. This post is timely as I was just laying out my weight lifting for the week. If…

I think canned salmon is less fishy than frozen. If you can get red salmon and not pink it a whole lot better. Red coho is the best, I think that's what I bought at Costco. It is really delicious.

There is a mapmyride APP for your smart phone that I use. It's free! Helmet is first thing on my list as for accessories.

Which Polar do you have? How old is it?

While I think the 'doctor' promoting Wheat Belly Diets is a quack, there are some things he mentions that work for me personally. Honestly I think it all goes back to each person, how your metabolism reacts to certain food, genetics and probably a lot of environmental factors we don't even know about. For me, only for me I…

If you are not a fish eater try Tilapia. It is extremely mild, cooks easy, cheap and is loaded with protein :-) I just put a little brummel and brown on top, green onions, and a shake or so of paprika and bake for 10 minutes in the NuWave. Perfect.

Man it blows my mind how the last 10 pounds makes SUCH a difference in how we look! I'm working my *kitten* off trying to kill my last 10 and it is by FAR the hardest to lose. I've been heeding advice others have given here about lots of strength training. It seems to be working, I'm slowly getting there.
-
Yyyyyes sir you are correct. I just looked at the new one and it now has this capability :-) I bought myself a new one (F7).
-
One drawback to Polar is the stupid battery in the strap. You cannot replace it when it goes, you have to buy a whole new strap. My F7 is ancient now and on that fact alone I'm looking for another brand that lets you change the band battery too :-(

I'm not a huge fan of beef but since I discovered ground buffalo I am in heaven :-) It doesn't bloat my stomach like beef and the flavor is simply amazing. It's packs 24 g of protein per 4 oz and it very high in iron which is good for us girls.
