Yes, muscle mass increases your metabolism but if your metabolism is in the toilet so to speak then restricting carbs, which your body burns first, and forcing it to burn fat will boost your metabolism. Strength training is always recommended, on a diet or not.

Hi ya Holly, would love to be friends. I've been low carb since October and really loving the life style and the success. It's been slow going for me because of my insulin resistance issues but it is finally coming off and I'm so thrilled.

Because everyone's body is different there is no difinitive "right" diet. I am on Atkins. Low carb is NOT a fad, it is a science and when researched and done correctly it is effective and very healthy. Just eating right is not good enough for many people. I am one of those people.
