I eat them for the Omega 3's. Best thing to do is buy whole and grind them yourself as needed. Your body gets more from them if they are ground first, but if they are ground too far ahead they lose some of their nutritional punch. Oh...and store them in the fridge.

Happens to me too, can't stand it. Probably why I never use the thing. My feet never tingle when I run outside.

Not being able to be perfect isn't an excuse for not trying to be better. I read something like that once and it makes sense. If we all just threw up our hands because we couldn't solve ALL the world's problems, we'd never get anything done. Just focus on doing better all the time and you will be making a difference.

Yep! Just picked "the one" today, it's Oct 6th. I've got other races (including a sprint triathlon) planned before that and am looking forward to the coming season. See my pic? That my frozen hair from this morning's run in 1 degree weather. Bring on the training!

I just read a recipe last night that called for maca powder to add a malty taste to a smoothie. I might have to skip that recipe. My booty is fine as is.

I can't tell you what to do (and you shouldn't let me), but I will tell you my experience since you asked. I've been a vegetarian for over 20 years and a vegan for about 8 months. In the past eight months: 1) my cholesterol dropped 52 points to a normal range 2) my chronic sinus issues that I've had since childhood have…

I always bring my own water bottle and maybe some dark chocolate if I'm feeling frisky.

I was 9 when I was a latchkey kid, and babysat for other kids at 10. For my oldest son. I decided on 10.

I use net calories. When I burn more I eat more. That being said, when I log my exercise, I edit the calories burned downward because I think MFP overestimates.

I'm doing a 5 mile Turkey Trot on Thanksgiving too! You can do it, it'll be fun:) Do walk/run intervals if you need to but just get out there!

I pack my lunch everyday so I'm kinda a pro at it:) I usually do leftovers of some sort, or fixings for a salad or burrito. And some fresh fruit...whatever is in season. Lunch tends to be my biggest meal of the day. I eat around 12:30 and I'm not a snacker so that's it until dinner. Today it was mixed greens (with dried…

Cheese was the hardest for me when I transitioned from vegetarian to vegan. I find I do better making recipes that are not cheese-centric so I am not constantly "substituting". I make soups, stews, curries, casseroles, stirfries, etc., none of them feature cheese ( dairy or alternative) and guess what? They taste amazing.…

I've added an extra layer and gloves but that's about it so far. As it gets icier, I'll probably add some yak tracks and maybe some ear muffs..Looking forward to winter trail runs!

I am doing a sprint triathlon next summer. I already run longer distances but just started swim training. Biking will wait until early spring when I will focus on that and open water swimming. I've seen 12 week plans on http://beginnertriathlete.com/. Go check them out. Have fun and let us know how your training is…

Tandoori grilled items are healthy and not usually spicy.

I use the So Delicious brand coconut milk creamers. The original is only 10 cal per tablespoon and the french vanilla or hazelnut are 20. Not bad IMO. I usually use 2 T in a large travel coffee cup. Black coffee isn't my thing, I tried:)
