Yeah, I've been torn on this very issue as well. I don't want to give them the idea of getting paid for nothing though.. Yeah, there's the teaching money responsibility, but part of that responsibility is to not get it without earning it. Thanks for all the input everyone! Many many good points to think about here.

How does insanity differ from p90x? Is insanity mainly like the plyometrics in P90x with some variation? I've debated on giving it a go but haven't done a ton of research yet.

You and I share the same problem. i have to find music that matches my cadence or I just run with no music.

Eh... there's nothing I can think of that I couldn't absolutely live without.

All GPS manufacturers use the same satellites. Individual manufacturers may have their own technology or type of antenna to use in their products, but the GPS satellites are handled by the government, not a private entity.

Though not foam I use "the stick" http://www.thestick.com/ . LOVE this thing.

Yes, a pound is a pound, but we're talking weight vs volume here... Pack a bucket with fat, and pack the same size bucket with muscle and weigh them... which is heavier?
-
If you're significantly overweight and eat the right macro-nutrient combo you very well can gain muscle at a calorie deficit. It's doable, but certain things have to be right for it to happen.

Your body only NEEDS 500mg of sodium a day to maintain correct body function...

go to facebook and check out "The couch to 5k program" page. Great info that works well and very easily works you into a 3.1 mile distance over a couple months.
-
The website has no idea what your heart rate is so it's giving it's best guess as to what you burned. I'd go with the HRM since it was there and actually was touching your body to make the measurements.

I wish I could help. I don't notice much of a difference in my running whether I'm low carbing or not.

It's funny how our bodies reject the "crap" food once you eat clean for a while. You always know when you mess up even if you try to justify it and eat it anyway. Your body definitely knows.

This isn't exactly how it works...

Have you tried stopping and see what happens?

No, there's two others...

Eat back your exercise calories for a week or two and see how it turns out. It truely is that easy.

This in itself is racist.

The water that cooks out contains no calories. 4oz of precook calories = 3oz of post cook calories.
-
The P90x program, when you calculate your BMR has you eat those calories. Then is says to add 600 calories on workout days.

Makes no difference. She's a smoker and that's a game breaker over everything else.

I wear vibram five fingers shoes to run in. No "it's" not permission to give me every opinion you have of them as far as safety, looks, or function, or why you'd never wear them.

So what did they determine was the problem that they discovered if you don't mind me asking?

The 20 and under for atkins is ONLY FOR INDUCTION... and induction is only really meant to be for about two weeks ( can be longer though at personal preference). There are 3 other phases of atkins, Each with a jump in carb and added foods that can be eaten. "Carbohydrates in Phase Four The fourth phase, or the Lifetime…

You can eat certain amounts on the allowed foods list. The low carb diets aren't exactly a free for all as many think. I'm not doing an atkins induction or anything, but I'm keeping my carbs low and track everything I put in my mouth on the tracker here. i'm still toying with what makes me feel good and all that so it's…

I'm a minimalist runner. I do not go barefoot, but the vibram fivefingers or the minimalist selections from merrell or new balnace are nice too if you don't like the toe look. Read up on all you options, and make an educated decision. More padding in the shoe isn't necessarily better, but if you have legitimate foot…

Obligatory answer stating what works for me, thus debunking decades of science/nutrition info.

I was curious about this as well a little while back. I asked the question on a couple of different websites, including the C25k facebook page. They all said that increasing distance endurance will help with the shorter distance speed runs too. Once my calf feels better I'm looking at mixing up long runs along with shorter…
