  • Agreed!! Run, run, run away from him. Ask your skinny smoker to put down the cigarettes and work on his problem. See how he takes your criticism of his filthy habit. It might be you need to ask him to gain weight, you've never been with someone as thin as he is. See what happens. Good luck.
  • The best exercise advice I ever received... pick an exercise you can do for the rest of your life. What is your favorite thing to do? Swim? Do it. Ride a bike? Do it. Move that body and enjoy it. Chances are you will continue with something you enjoy for many years to come. Don't hate the exercise, do what you love. Good…
  • I really needed to see this. Was feeling wonderful from my visits to the gym, then stopped. Don't know why.... just started up again and it was the best hour of my day today!! :)
  • I totally agree. Thank you for sharing this. And I loved the picture of the "sparkly" red dress! Fantastic.
  • I'm with you. (figuratively speaking). I had a colleague want to join me on my walks. I couldn't say no, I just wasn't available any of the times she asked to meet with me!! Sad, I know. I am very content going to the gym and walking alone. I use this as prayer time, quiet time, and I concentrate much better than…
  • I agree totally. If nothing else is added to the tea... it's water. Just be careful with caffiene products, as they dehydrate you.
  • I have lost 40 lbs, exercise regularly, and feel fatigued daily!! I had a sleep study done. I have sleep apnea. I will be wearing a sleep machine to bed soon. Hoping it boosts my energy levels. Most people I talk to say the improvement is immediate in feeling energized!! Talk with your doctor. And sleep apnea isn't just a…
  • I talk to myself. Sometimes out loud... but it works. I say, "You allow yourself a splurge day. (mine is Fridays.) Wait until the splurge day and see if that's really what you want." By Friday, that item isn't what I'm craving at all, I've made it through the week with hitting my target in calories every day and the weight…
  • I didn't know lettuce had calories until coming on this website. Honestly... I don't count them. A water filled vegetable, eat to your hearts content.
  • Im down 40 lbs since Jan, and my husband is awesome about my weight loss! We went to a funeral recently and his friends told me he brags about my success all the time. He buys me all my new clothes, ( I only work part time so he doesn't seem to mind footing the bill for clothes that fit me now.) He encourages me and never…
  • You look fantastic! If you need a reminder of the "old" you, pick up 60 lbs of something and carry it all day. If nothing else, you will realize the good you're doing for your body, not just the way you look. At the risk of echoing all the other replies, I love your style and the beautiful smile. Keep going!!
  • Our stories mirror each other in so many ways. I also left abusive relationships, let God choose the man for me, and decided to show how very happy I am by taking care of myself! I have lost 40 lbs since January and will continue to keep losing. My husband would love me if i stayed huge, but I want to get healthy on the…
  • I've lost 40 lbs since Jan of this year, and still have trouble putting on clothing thats fits and doesn't billow away from my body!! I wear the new clothes I've bought and people compliment me constantly, but in my head, I'm thinking, "Oh no, they can see my tummy- tire easily now!" The more I exercise, the less these…
  • I love your technique!! Calling up the stairs is classic!! I just took the food with a red face and mumbled, keep the change... wish I'd been more creative. :)
  • been there, done that. Salt is my absolute favorite binge food!! A bag of Ruffles with a whole container of Heluva good French onion dip. Feel terrible afterwards, guilt, depressed....not so delicious after all when you really think about it.
  • I agree. Their wonderful compliments seem to remind me I was really big when I started this! I love the attention for the few minutes and feel it reinforces my motivation, but then i start thinking, "I hardly got a hello when I was bigger, but now you're gushing over my 40 lb weight loss. Thanks?"
  • Amen sister. Best of luck with your new journey! Thank you for your post. :)
  • I agree. Calories in vs's calories out. A coworker eats ONLY carbs, and very little protein, and almost NO vegetables. She is at her goal weight. Not the healthiest diets, but it's what works for her. I am a diabetic, sugar is a big NO, but not carbs. Complex carbs, are required at least twice a day. I am losing weight and…
  • This is awesome news. I am working towards getting off my Metformin someday also. Had my bloodwork done today. My last check-up came back with an A1c at 5.9!! So close.... Now to get off the remainder of my weight. Down 50 so far, 50 more to go. Thank you for sharing.
  • You look amazing!! Congratulations.
  • this is already a success story...you've started. My husband had his physical today at the dr's and the scale won't register him, which means he's over 350 lbs. He is very discouraged, but I asked him to try what I'm doing.. write down everything you eat!! It has helped me to lose 35 lbs since Jan. 2012. It's coming off…
  • Laproscoptic is the easiest surgery to recover from. They may suggest you start a walking program within a few days of the surgery. It's very doable...just listen to your body. Don't push yourself. Along with eating correctly, you shouldn't gain any weight. Good luck.
