I mix in half a frozen banana, and sometimes a couple of spoonfuls of lowfat vanilla yogurt. Helps with the texture. If that doesn't help, maybe consider switching brands and/or flavors.

Stick with your program. You could offer to make a salad for them.

This is why I am contemplating buying a Health O Meter analog model. Wal Mart has a model on sale. I want consistency as much as, if not more than accuracy.

I have a 6 or 7 year old Taylor digital scale that works alright, but has an annoying tendency to vary by as much as 2 lbs within just a few minutes. I am considering replacing it, maybe with an old fashioned analog scale, maybe with another digital scale.

My brother travels for work almost every week and has the quadruple problem of fatigue, stress, long hours between meals, and high calorie rich restaurant food. What I gather is, he keeps a strict regimen for breakfast and lunch, and only eats half of whatever he orders for dinner (or orders an appetizer portion) because…

My trainer showed me a couple of these exercises, but not all. Good workout. Thanks for posting the link. I will try some of these other exercises next week.

Agree. It is your right to state your opinion. FWIW, every person I know who did Atkins lost weight. Some people lost quite a bit. However, every person I know who did Atkins eventually went off it and gained back more weight than they lost. Take this FWIW. I am losing weight the normal way for the 5th time in my life, so…

Hmm. Currently I do cardio 6 days a week, weights only twice a week.

Don't go crazy. No need to do the latest diet fad. I have seen it happen where people who didn't have a weight problem developed one with erratic eating habits. Just watch the salt, drink lots of water, and eat clean for a couple of days, or weeks.

Dont know, haven't seen it. I know that as you advance in yoga, the movements require more strength and flexibility. Just don't know if a video would cut it. Go to a yoga studio and try a class out. As I said earlier, a sculpting class focusing on core strength would be good, as would Pilates.
-
IMO, you should probably work some resistance training into your regimen. It doesn't need to be heavy weights (though that isn't a bad idea). A class focusing on core strength, body sculpting, pilates, and yoga might also do the trick.

We are hard wired to eat more when more food is right in front of us. This is why I now avoid buffets like the plague.
-
All good advice. Do sets of squats, dead lifts, lunges, pull ups, and bench press. And you need to eat if you want to put on muscle. That being said, it might still take some time.

Steer clear of the latkes. ;) I plan to allow myself maybe 1 portion, not more. Nutritionally, they are pretty much identical to french fries.

I plan to stick to my goals through the holiday season, though this may be the first time in my life that I was actually trying to lose weight, as opposed to just maintaining, through the holidays. Last time I did big weight loss, my diet started after the holidays, and I was almost at goal weight by Thanksgiving.

Waiting for my kid's public school to start feeding him meals like this. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ovO18E-hgew

Trying to use my appetite as a guide as far as eating back exercise calories. Some days, I have a protein shake in the evening, some days I do not. Yesterday, I contemplated cutting my chicken sub iI bought for lunch in half. I would probably normally do this, but given that I had just finished a 45 minute spinning…

Actually, have a burger, just make it a single, no cheese, mayo, or bacon. Top with lettuce, tomato, onion, pickles, ketchup and mustard. If you are watching carbs, you can even skip the bun. Skip the fries, fried onion rings, and milk shakes.

Fantastic. I am a recreational rider and one of my future goals is to do a longish bike tour.

Agreed. In your case, 1/2 to 1 lb a week is preferable. And, FWIW, 116 lbs sounds too skinny for anyone older than, say, 12 or 13. If you eat too little, you might slow your metabolism and find yourself with a real weight problem in a few years.

I am just 3 to 4 months back after completely falling off the wagon. 6 years ago, I was on my way, lifting, jogging, biking etc And my weight was under control..., but somehow I got lost. It isn't hard. Can't watch a ball game without seeing ads for unhealthy junk food. Food options are filled with high calorie unhealthy…

You need to broaden your time horizon. No more of this, I dieted for 4 days, then fell off the wagon for a week business. You are almost guaranteed to fail with that approach. Work towards having a good solid week of clean eating. Then do it again, and again. After a month, or two, you will have a cheat meal, or day along…

Funny, that is one of my go to foods. I eat it 2 or 3 times a week. A tablespoon on a slice of whole grain bread or english muffin, or even mixed into a protein shake.
-
Some of that is probably water retention due to the high salt content of a lot of Chinese food. Unless, of course, you actually eat 8,000 calories or more at the buffet. There is only one man I ever saw who could do that and that is my late father who literally, ate himself to death. sigh. :(

My grandmother used to say I had big eyes. Apparently even as a kid, I took big portions.

Donuts, scones, and cinnamon rolls. If I start reaching for those, I am in trouble. Also french fries, though I must say, 3 months in, I am finding it easier to pass on them. Tried one the other day off my son's plate at a restaurant and though it tasted good, I couldn't see myself eating the whole plate of fries like I…

Look, you should congratulate yourself. You won't find yourself fat, drunk (or stoned) and stupid in a few years. You can still go out, but maybe not iin a way that makes drinking or taking drugs the focal point. Catch some live music at a club. Or maybe make the club an after activity, as in after dinner, or music, or a…
