I went from regular soda to diet for a couple weeks... then to Sparkling "Ice" flavored water and eventually down to regular water... just weaned myself off of it slowly. Now I allow it once every other week or so as long as it fits into my calorie count for the day.

I usually have something healthy that fills me up followed by something I crave, like 2 squares of hersheys chocolate. That way I'm full and the last taste I have is something I have a tendency to binge on if I deprive myself.

Not sure how slowly you should be losing the weight, but most people who stay within the "healthy" weight loss guide (1 to 1 1/2 pounds per week) don't seem to have as many issues with loose skin.
