IF can be a great tool, and I do believe there are benefits to fasting (beyond weight loss). But NO, it doesn’t give you a license to eat whatever you want in the 8 hour window. You still need to be in a deficit

Exactly this. Patience and consistency are your friends.

OP- easy to get 50+ grams of fiber on the med WOE. The center of all meals should be leafy green and non starchy veg. Add in beans, rice, potatoes and lots of fruit. Then add meat/fish/eggs as a condiment. Depending on your calorie goal, keep nuts, oils, avocado, seeds and wine to a minimum.

I declared maintenance the day I hit the bottom of my range. I’ve bounced around quite a bit after, -10, then +10. As of now, I’m 4# over range, but keeping up the fight.

@crazyravr that looks awesome. Googled, does this look about right? https://www.themediterraneandish.com/shakshuka-recipe/

Super fun!

@meeper123 check out PCRM and their 21 day kick start. Gives you all the tools you need to get started.

Check out the Minimalist Baker blog.

@dmz1983 I’m coming off a year of WFPB for this exact reason. My recovery from lifting, running, hard-core Pilates’s and even power walking is terrible. The first 6 months were great, but it went downhill fast after that.

Greatest gadget ever, run, don’t walk. Makes the worlds best oatmeal, beans, rice, steamed veg, pot roast, and more

Real life study here.....I was WFPB with 10% protein in 2018, also, very low fat. Went great for the first 9 months, started to fade in September and could hardly get out of bed by December. I’m switching to 25/50/25 this year.

@aepstein1 for future reference, there’s a handy recipe builder tool here in MFP that helps you get the calculations exact (if you care too). I find it helpful for things 8 make a lot.

Put down that donut!!! JK. Awesome work. Especially the maintenance part, which for me, has been a gazillion times harder than losing.
-
Good advice here. When I get over my range I swap out higher calories food for greens. So cut nuts and nut butters, cut higher calorie veg like avocado and potatoes and replace with spinach, kale, mixed greens. And cut back on oils.

Eat when you’re hungry and drink when you’re dry (an old Irish diddy).

I gained a bunch of weight when i got married (15 years ago) trying to “keep up” with hubs. My advice, Learn to cook healthy things together, and eat the proper portions and limit eating out. It took me 2 years to lose 100#, but it can be done. I’m also 5-7”, started at 225, got to 125, now 135.

Plug your stats into MFP set to lose 1# per week and do as it says. After 30 days, adjust accordingly

+1 on the running shoes.

What kind of workouts are you doing on carpet? And when you say sore, do you mean the bottoms from rubbing on carpet, or the whole feet?

@Frogfisg Frog, I should also mention that my supplementation was spotty at best, specifically B12 and D. I had bloodwork done back in June when I was 6 months in and it was perfect, then I just let it slide.
-
@Frogfisg for starters my teeth hurt, I had no energy to walk (much less run, which I love), I lost strength in my lifts and was generally lethargic. I was totally turned off by beans and soy and was basically down to broccoli and potatoes. I’m not suggesting that a WFPB diet isn’t healthy or that people can’t thrive - I…

I just finished one full year WFPB and will not be sticking with it 100%. I learned a lot and I’m glad I tried it, but my body was breaking down. It’s great to learn how specific foods affect you. I will stick with a very heavy plant diet, but will add back eggs and salmon. I’ll stay off dairy and cut wheat. Sugar (my arch…

I’m really frickin snacky in the late afternoon. So I skip breakfast, have lunch around 12, eat a big snack at 4 and have supper at 7. If I don’t have a planned snack in the afternoon on workdays, bad things happen. Personally I’d be fine eating lunch and another meal at 4 or 5, but don’t want to wreck the family dinner…

Best quote ever @jemhh. When you need to start measuring olive oil and accounting for condiments, you’re almost there.

Enjoy the fruit when it’s in season! Sounds delicious 😋

My go-to is a bunch of chopped colorful peppers (red, orange, yellow & green) with hummus - homemade or Store bought, plus grapes washed but on the wines and a bowl of nuts. It’s pretty and always gets eaten!

My experience; Intuitive = 220# CICO = 135# Just Sayin

Simple answer - if you’re bored, and looking for something to do, the gym is one of the better options (versus a bar, or munching in front of the TV). Use the sauna, foam roll, yoga, lift.

Depends on how close you are to your co-workers!

I’m coming off one year of being vegan (with a goal of maintaining, not losing, in fact gained 9#). I Literally couldn’t get out of bed on Friday. Hit a wall. I felt great the first six months of being WFPB. It was great for me learning to like, eat and cook with a bunch of new vegetables. I truly think it helped heal my…
