  • Great job heading off the binge! How I wish my breakfast mattered :( It happens to me regardless of what I eat. My breakfast is pretty well the same every day. Always oatmeal with berries and I normally will snack also. I have tried to eat more earlier to ward off the cravings but then instead of having the calories when…
  • Run slower. You do not need to run fast. Don't worry about the time it takes, this will improve with distance. The more you run, the faster you will run naturally ;)
  • Watermelon! I can eat a ton of it and it's super low in calories, plus because it's very juicy it helps to keep me hydrated.
  • I try to always take them in the same place, same distance, same pose etc. Seeing changes will depend on your starting weight. The more weight you have to lose the longer it will take to see a change. I think for me it took about 20 lbs before it was 'obvious' - I was also about 100 pounds overweight at the time.
  • This is a good tool to have in the event you are unable to log in for whatever reason. https://www.myfitnesspal.com/account/login_counter_reset_request
  • Having been overweight for a good part of the last 20 years has made it impossible for me to remember how to eat properly. Logging helps me to visualize what a proper amount of food looks like. I stopped logging for the better part of a year and gained back almost 30 lbs so I know I obviously can't stop yet. I think that…
  • I think this is a very likely candidate. She is seeing you getting in better shape and is feeling insecure. My boyfriend was like this when I lost a bunch of weight.
  • This is my biggest problem too! I gave into the cookies last night but overall I was under for the week so I don't feel too horrible about it. I used to have success by actually planning for the snacking - but I also had a LOT more calories to play with the last time around because I was able to be much more active.…
  • I also lost a ton of weight - some is back but that's because I got lazy ;p I didn't work out at all until I'd lost almost 60 lbs so don't feel you HAVE to do it to lose weight. The only thing that matters (for most people) is calories in must be less than calories out. The only thing you really need to do is weight and…
  • How are we all doing on those goals people?! I managed to stay within my calories yesterday - barely, but I did it! Today I will do it again. I have to bus home so will have to try to avoid the shops on the way.
  • Aggree with Binary.. Not ALL men, but quite a few, are happy to have tag alongs. I have never seen it end well. If he is willing to string you along when he already has a girlfriend, will you ever really trust him not to do the same to you with some other woman in the future? You shouldn't have to 'fight' for anyone. When…
  • That's a horrible way to start your day for sure! I'm sorry that you had to go through that *hugs* This said, and please don't take this the wrong way..Losing your phone has caused you to be 'down', understandably you were shaken and upset, but has eating 'half your fridge' made you feel any better? I would bet not for any…
  • Hi all! Great thread! I went from 248 to 140 a couple years back but been slowly creeping back up due to medical issues and stress. Diet is my biggest problem these days. Used to be that I could ignore the cravings but after dieting for so long I think something in my brain just snapped. Seems its always around 8pm I just…
  • I keep it as simple as possible. Eat less and move more. Log everything. No restrictions, no fad diets, pills , cleanses or teas. I eat full fat, full calorie home cooked foods as often as possible and forgive myself when I can't. If I mess up, I move on. Just try to do better every day. I may not be at my goal, but I'm…
  • "Do it NOW, because sometimes, 'later' becomes NEVER" "It's easier to wake up early and work out than it is to look in the mirror and not like what you see"
  • I would normally weigh daily every morning at the same time in order to record my weight for my own knowledge however I am also 'ok' with the 2-8lb fluctuations that are normal for me depending on my level of activity, sodium intake, hydration and all sorts of other factors. If you can look at a 'gain' and understand that…
  • 5'6 down to 140 from 248 then back up to 170. This will be the 3rd time back for me. Started logging again a few days ago. Aiming for 125 though I'm using the mirror more than the scale these days so when I'm happy with the mirror I will stop ;)
  • I know that feeling. The unfortunate truth is that the closer you get to your goal weight, the slower the scale will move. I was lucky to see 1 lb loss in 2 months. The one thing I would strongly suggest for anyone trying to lose weight is NOT to look at the scale more then maybe once a month - unless you can handle the…
  • I have the same problem. Given free rein, I will eat EVERYTHING, all day, all night. I know what you are going through. I managed to lose about 90 lbs in total over a couple of years. I'm back to it myself trying to stop eating all the time - again. I started the same way I did it the first time. Start logging everything,…
  • My 'guess' would be that you have been drinking enough water to flush out any excess sodium in your system and also to relieve water retention. Seems counter intuitive but drinking water keeps you from retaining it. If you keep drinking enough liquids to pee 'clear', you will do better on the scale. If you aren't clear,…
  • At my heaviest I was 248 at 5'6 - so reasonably close to where you are also. I was the same way, I was 'fat & happy', I was in love with someone who loved me back unconditionally, weight and all. I was active, working and generally didn't really feel that I needed to lose weight. The only thing that kept nagging me was my…
  • I've been inadvertently doing a re-comp for close to 2 years. Lifting 2-3 times / week and doing cardio in he form of fast walking / slow jogging nearly every day. Been at the same weight but seeing some shape changing / inches lost (very slowly) I would love to start losing again but I can't seem to stop eating…
  • I normally switch to maintenance in winter as it is very difficult to get a whole lot of activity in around here during the coldest days. I'm in Canada and it isn't out of the ordinary for it to be so cold around here that hey will caution you NOT to go outside. I do what I can but it's nothing like the activity I get in…
  • Sounds like me, but it's been 2 years at the same weight. I have lost and gained the same 10 lbs over and over. Admittedly I was involved in a pretty bad car accident and was unable to walk for quite a while. I have only recently been cleared by the doctors/therapists to return to the gym. I seem to be doing alright with…
  • This is why you are encouraged to WEIGH foods and not measure them by cups/spoons/items. If you assume that 1 cookie is 1 cookie (or bun or whatever else) you may be eating way more than you think - which many people do. Even for uniform items such as bread slices there can be a variance of quite a few calories even in one…
  • There are tons out there! I combine the crock pot with freezer meals also which means most days I get up, take the pre-measured/weighed bag out of the fridge, throw it in the crock pot, set my timer and go. I make meals for a few weeks at a time and just take a bag out every morning for dinner the next day. I get most of…
  • I believe that information is a good thing. I prefer to have as much information as possible so that I can make the decisions for myself and not have to rely on what other people "think" or "feel" about MY decisions. "Organic" is not a 100% guarantee that something is GMO free. GMO crops put pollen into the air (as all…
