  • I eat my fries (and poutine) with gravy, ketchup and vinegar. The worse the gravy the better it tastes so for most places that have the canned gravy it's awesome. I don't do it with real pan gravy because it doesn't taste right LOL Peanut Butter and Cheesewhiz sandwiches are great too.
  • Most people prepare their food for the day at home, either the night before, or in big batches for the week. You will find what works for you but in my experience having the same thing daily for breakfast and lunches / snacks helps me to plan my dinners much better. If I know I am going to have a big dinner or a party or…
  • I've taken to shopping in the second hand stores, this way I can find things that fit but also that I will not mind parting with when I shrink because I didn't spend a ton on them :)
  • I LOVE your arms what a beautiful shape! hoping I can manage something as stunning eventually. Also, I can't believe I've never seen this thread..in almost 5 years here rofl! I don't have any pictures of me at my highest weight which was around 248 back in 2004. By the time I found MFP in 2011 I had managed to get down to…
  • Thanks guys, it's just nice to know I'm not the only one who does this. I talked to my SO yesterday while we were carpooling home and told him that I was having issues staying in control - he already knew of course because he sees it. I gave him permission to help me stay focused. He thinks I'm eating because I'm bored so…
  • @Theo166 I try to log but quite frankly I know I 'fuc*d up" so half the time I don't bother trying to figure out how many calories I went over by..I went over and I've been at this long enough to know that it was by at least 3-400 calories a day. My diary is perfect until I leave work then comes dinner and my evening binge…
  • Not having anything you consider 'treats' for 2 months is not moderation, it's denial. Seeing foods as 'evil' or 'good' makes it hard to remain positive about your progress. When you put yourself down for eating a food that you consider 'evil' the cycle perpetuates. Food is fuel, you need it to live. The fuel you put into…
  • Thanks guys. @Look_Its_Kriss I can see some of that, though not nearly to this extent - likely it is only a matter of time though. Your post really sounds a lot like me and you're bang on about the 'food hiding'. I'm an adult but I just feel like I'm always eating and hate when other people see me doing it. I feel guilty,…
  • car accident... I could no loner go to the gym 5 days a week and then I was laid off, lost my gym membership and was unemployed for 8 months. Gained back 25 lbs out of the 90+ that I lost initially on MFP by counting and working out. I have now discovered that I have hypothyroidism on top of not being able to go to the gym…
  • Remember if you are just starting a new exercise program or have changed it considerably the scale will ALWAYS go up. Usually it will take me at least a month of steady workout, logging, water etc before I start to stabilize after starting something new. Good article here about it…
  • I find that I like some veggies better than others. For instance I absolutely LOATHE raw carrots - though I like them well enough if they are cooked. I agree with @StealthHealth - try different things, you may find something you do like :) You can try dipping things in Hummus - it's not normally too high in calories. You…
  • Fantastic work! So much better when you have someone to work with!
  • I've been up and down again a few times although I'm proud to say that I have never gone all the way back to where I was, I can still understand what you're going through. Just saying "this week I'm going to get back to it" didn't work for me. I had to actually re-commit to logging, start making weekly meals again and…
  • Focus first on WEIGHING and logging everything. Don't guess, don't estimate. Get a food scale if you don't have one and use it. When you can log your food accurately the rest is not hard. Not being accurate will mess you up more than anything else. Don't throw exercise into the mix until you have your food tracking sorted…
  • Given that you are a 200lb man and the majority of individuals who would be eating this way are not 200lb men the reason for your post escapes me. It would be the equivalent of a petite female creating a post with a tittle something like "Anyone who eats over 3000 calories a day is a big fat disgusting slob" and then…
  • Losing weight is mainly all about calories in vs calories out. If you can make it fit then go for it. If you were eating highly processed sugar then you might want to consider cutting back but fat doesn't make you fat, eating too many calories does ;)

  • Yes for me. I really struggle trying not to overeat when I have a long day. I try to drink a ton of water, even if I'm not feeling thirsty, it helps keep it under control. Sometimes I can manage to just eat a ton of broccoli or something but other times I just have whatever and deal with it. I've been doing this long…
  • No two people will be the same. How much you are going to lose in the first 2 months depends on how much you HAVE to lose in the first place. If you only have 20 to lose you are not going to lose the same as someone who has 90 or more. @OP losing 21 lbs in 2 months for you is A LOT. Starting at 156 how much can you…
  • Started at 248 back in 2004, dropped down to 140 at my lowest in 2014, car accident etc, back to 170 now slowly coming down again. Was 161 this morning :) Looking to get around 125 as I was still very flabby at 140 despite the fact that I do lift weights 3 times / week.
  • Do not bring money with you when you leave the house ;) If you have cash it's easy to convince yourself to go and buy that chocolate or ice cream or chip bag (or whatever) I find that unless I am deliberately going to shop, I try not to take cash. Of course I always have a credit card or debit for an emergency but if I am…
  • I had one also, no weight gain from it.
  • Same here. I would record my weight based on a 30 day average. I haven't started up my spreadsheet again but I will soon.
  • Take it slow, make small changes, be patient. If you immediately cut out everything you love and start working out 5 days a week there is a very high chance that you will give up within a couple of months and go back to exactly what you were doing before - or worse. Weight loss is a marathon, not a sprint. The slower you…
  • How exactly is your BMR 1500 and your weight less than 100 lbs? Are you 7 feet tall?
  • Boiled eggs are nice. What about little wraps? you can stick some lunch meat/ tuna/cheese in a small tortilla and make some mini quesadillas or if you have a press, that's nice also. I love watermelon, not sure if this is safe for you, it's not from a tree and has very little fiber. @pebble4321 has the right idea, we don't…
  • 300 calories is fine as long as you don't do it everyday. Bad day for me is 1000+ calories over - happens probably once a month. Just get back on the horse the next day and keep going. As @snowflake930 says..It's only bad if you let it be a bad week/month/year. One day isn't going to hurt.
  • I used to do monthly cooking. Cook all my meals for the month over a weekend. I have also cooked professionally and when you are chopping & slicing for 6-8 hours at that speed it's not 'incidental' I think I logged half of it. For a 'normal' day I would say no, but if they were doing what I used to do I would say they were…
  • It generally takes longer than a month when you don't have a lot of weight to lose to see any results. Be patient. Follow the advice Steph & dragon gave. When I was 20 lbs from my goal weight I would be lucky to see 1 lb in 2-3 months loss. This is normal. You should be aiming for no more than 1/2lb per week loss. To give…
