  • Great post! Diets end... Keeping at a good weight is forever! I can't imagine never having a bite of pizza or cake again! I have had several over the last 14 months and I'm still down 184... The world didn't stop when I ate a hot dog or ate pie. For those newcomers, log it, own it and make it work for you not against you.…
  • Hi, I'm Lew, married dad of two soon to be three! I'm down 184 pounds in the last 14 months. My diary is open to friends and I comment all the time. Anyone is welcome to add me... except Becca... She's already my friend... Welcome and stick with it guys!
  • All of these comments are spot on... Don't worry about the sugars if they are from fruit... Look into adjusting all of your preset macros and micros to something that works better for you!
  • Most of the other suggestions are great ideas and you are losing! Remember a month that you are down is better than staying the same or worse yet gaining! Be patient and keep exploring what you are doing... I've seen people with high sodium intake not losing due to water retention... T.O.M. is also difficult for many…
  • Congratulations on reaching goal! You rock and since you've been here long enough you know that the posts that matter the most aren't the auto posts but those that you shout yourself from the roof top! Hurray for you! 31.7 more pounds and I'll be posting my self praising boast too!
  • Too many people pick up stones before they remember that they are kicking back on the sofa in their glass house...
  • I think I know her... she then became my friend Dave's ex wife!
  • Having a deficit of 3500 calories doesn't mean that you will lose a pound! 3500 calories is the energy stored in one pound of fat. In order to drop that weight you must remove the wastes from your body and create a new homeostatic condition for your body. Water retention, constipation, etc... can mask weight loss. The…
  • I'm at 243... started at 425... I'm doing about 1800 calories and exercising and its coming off about one to two pounds per week now... A slight slow down or stall happens every once in a while... How long is the "plateau" and what is your sodium intake, new exercise routine, lots of other factors to consider if this is…
  • Planning to drop a little bit more and then I may have some tuck action to take away the excess skin... Its not too bad, but it will be better without it. After 182 pounds I definitely do see some loose skin but its better than seeing a gut stick out a few feet in front of me.
  • Number one thing for weight loss and/or muscle development is proper nutrition. If you don't fuel up the car it will not go! Protein powders, if you can do whey in your veggie plan its awesome. If not there are good vegan sources from Tempeh, Peas, Kale, Beans, Lentils, Quinoa, Tofu, and Sprouted Grain Bread...
  • I use a scoop of Cytosport Whey Isolate either vanilla or chocolate with some frozen fruit... Stick it in the Vitamix... Post workout while I take a walk around the neighborhood with the wife and son. Works for a nice dessert in the evening and it does help to balance out the macros at the end of the day.
  • If you want to remove sodium from preprocessed foods there are a few tricks... 1. Beans and other veggies that are canned can be rinsed to remove the surface salt. 2. Canned food like soups. Add a plain potato and then dispose of it. It will absorb a large percentage of the sodium out of the food. Best way though is to…
  • Hello from California! How are you friend?
  • Fat loss has to come from all over the body... As the percentage drops the appearance of belly fat will diminish. There are exercises to strengthen the abdominal muscles, but at the end of the day fat has to come off from everywhere. Anyone is welcome to add me if they need an MFP friend.
  • Don't worry about the number on the scale. Worry about your health... My first week, I was 425 pounds I lost about 15 pounds... Eating right and moving more you will see the changes. Don't worry about it or you will slow your progress. Just get on board with getting healthy and the scale will take care of itself! Anyone is…
  • Anyone is welcome to add me. I'm Lew... Dad of two soon to be three... Yes I've dropped those 182 in about 13 months... My diary is open to friends and I log/comment all the time.
  • I'm Lew, down 182 in just over a year. Married, dad of two boys and soon to have daughter... My diary is open to friends and I comment all the time. Welcome and good luck with your fitness goals!
  • This... I'm doing this for the rest of my life... Am I never going to eat a slice of pizza again... NO! Do I make sure to work it into my daily calorie goals and weekly macros? Yes! I try to get as much micro nutrient goodness as I can into my day but I also don't tell myself that I am not doing something ever again. I…
  • I'm Lew... Married with two kids... soon to be three in just over a month! Anyone is welcome to add me. I've been at this for just over a year and have dropped 182 so far. I log almost always and I comment often. My diary is open to friends and you can glance back over the year and get ideas and see how this really is…
  • I'm Lew. Down 182 since last July and a month away from 44. In better shape now than I was at 34 or even 24... My diary is open to friends and I comment all the time... Welcome to MFP!
  • Anyone is welcome to add me... I'm Lew and since last July I've dropped 182 pounds... 83 kilos approximately... Log everything. Overestimate the calories you eat. Underestimate the calories you burn. Stay under your goal and you will drop weight! My diary is open to friends and I comment all the time.
  • Great attitude and my favorite thing to tell people that go over goal for the day... Kill it tomorrow! Forget about everything else and think about what your goal is and go for it!
  • There is a picture analysis site online that is within about 5% margin of error... get a scale that measures conductivity and its within about 2%... or get a submersion test and that's accurate to the sausage and eggs or the toast and yogurt you had for breakfast.
  • Anyone that needs a friend can add me... I'm Lew. Down 182 from 425 and looking to lose another 30 to 40 pounds... My diary is open to friends and I comment to friends all the time. Welcome and stick with it people!
  • Over estimate the calories you eat and underestimate the calories you burn, stay within your goal and you should lose weight! I'm staying under 1800 calories a day and always under 1000 net calories while I'm trying to lose weight and it works... 182 pounds now.
  • Start with core and large muscle groups like chest and back (Pectoralis and Dorsi)... Core: Weighted crunch, Leg Raise, and Side Bends Chest: Bench Press, Incline Bench, Decline Bench, Lying Fly, Straight Arm Pullover, and Bent Arm Pullover... Back: Wide Row, Bent Over Row, Dead Lift, Bend to Opposite Foot, and Back Fly...…
  • No/Yes... Let me explain... From 425 down to 250 no... Now a few calories back on occasion until I am at goal and then I will be eating them back for maintenance... If you want to drop the weight then don't eat them back. Its like spraying down your tires with water when you are stuck in mud... You want to lose quickly…
  • Anyone is welcome to add me... I've been at this a year and have dropped 173 pounds. I don't have all the answers, but my diary is open to friends and I log, comment and answer questions often. Good luck!
