I am from Texas, born and raised so yes, I have a thick southern accent. I now live in Maryland and work at a hospital so people are always "guessing" where I am from.... lol they usually say "georgia" haha, but it's generally when I start talking fast, the accent really comes out. My husband however has a sexy caribbean…

I've been big for the past 20 yrs and this year have started exercise, cut out processed foods, sugars, etc. I got married in May and wanted to drop some weight for the wedding (simply beach wedding, just us and the preacher). Anyway, I have lost 47lb so far but I moved from Texas last year so no one really "sees" me but I…

I hear you!! The first time I did it, my back hurt. It hurt this time but not as much, but my knees were totally feeling it last night... hurting today pretty bad and one has just recovered from an injury so I dont want to re-injure it.

Hmm I never track sugar but I am low carb so I am sure mine is low... here goes: Monday - 10 Tuesday - 5 Wednesday - 11 Thursday - 17 Friday - 10 Saturday - 7 Sunday - 9 Weekly Total: 69 Hmmm, I guess I will take a look to see how much (if any) a low carb diet should have. Thanks guys for opening my eyes to something new :)

Okay so I didn't get to Day 2 because my knee was hurting pretty bad last night. Today I slept in (after taking some meds) I had to be at work at 5pm. I woke up at 2pm, did 30 min of cardio, made some dinner for tonight, made some "breakfast" (yes at 3pm lol) showered and logged my stuff. But I get off at 2am, if I did it…

Just wondering how everyone is feeling after Day one? I am sore, sore, sore!! lol I walked 1 mile tonight to try to cut down the soreness but my arms and back (again!!!) are really feeling it! :(

Day one done! I don't have weights so I just used bottled water, lol just 1 lb each but it was something, lol I will have to look into getting some weights this week,

I agree, find your pace and do what you can. I had to take 4-5 breathers, but as she said "5 seconds" and I got back to it. It was easier this time, but not easy! Last time my back hurt for 5 days, it just started feeling better this weekend so we'll see how it feels tomorrow. My knee seems be holding up fine as this point.

I just searched the two on here under the exercise database and it says jogging in place and "vigorous" jumping jacks burn the same amount of calories (for me, 1 min would be 18 calories for either one) so it seems you would have to put more emphasis on the jumping jacks to equate jogging in place. And it's not that I…

That's a good question. I also do Leslie Sansone's Walk Away the Belly Fat, I do the 2 mile 5 days a week (more like low intensity aerobics), in addition to walking a "neighborhood" mile with the hubby 2-3 times a week. I just did Day One of Level One for this challenge and it was easier than the first time (I tried it…

Awww it's so great to see us who share similar goals! It makes this challenge much easier to face :)

I hear varied opinions on cheat meals/days. I always keep an open mind about them because this is life and there will be occasions we will celebrate and let's face it, no one ever said "Let's run a mile to celebrate"!!!! You have to find balance and what works for you. It will be trial and error until you learn that. I am…

I don't really know what to expect to lose/gain with this. I measured 2 days ago so we will see. I am off today so it's a good day for me to start. I do know I want to still do my walking in addition to this, I guess that's my goal, too. I know the 30DS is brutal so I hope I can still walk, haha

Me, Me and ME! I originally started at 341 lbs and when I joined MFP in late July, I was 309lbs. As of yesterday I was 294 so I can totally relate. About 7 yrs ago I was 333 and got down to 288 and then went through a horrible divorce and weight went right back up. I am an emotional eater and food addict, carb addict. Food…

Well I am willing to bet we all have bad habits to break. Those habits are probably what landed most of us here. I have been doing okay, not always my best but trying to break that. I originally started at 341 lbs and when I joined MFP I was 309.. still fighting the same temptations and I guess I always will. All we can do…

I tried it a week ago and OMG it totally kicked my butt!!! But I am severely overweight (obese actually... okay morbidly obese) I did the modified moves and even had to stop for a breather every so often but dang I am damn near 300 lbs (well I was 300lbs eight days ago) I think it's a great program, I really do and I…

I work late evenings/nights and I have a 9pm-3am slot but I generally try not to eat after midnight. If I have calories left over then I will eat some cheese, nuts or peanut butter when I get home just to take the hunger away. I generally do not log those because mentally I know I am within my calories. But today I ate all…

I have 2 favs..... 1) The classic.... CARRIE and 2) The Exorcism of Emily Rose
Exercise will help maintain the lean muscle (along with upping the intake, so the body knows it doesn't need eat into it) so I'd say you were losing fat if you've been low carbing for a while. Of course the water weight varies naturally in the body, as does the contents of your stomach, time of the month, etc.…
If your body is truly relying on ketones, one of the ways (not always reliable) is to test your urine, midstream, with something called ketostix. On the side of the bottle is a diagram. After you 'catch' the urine on the stick, you wait 15 seconds to get a color reading. That reading needs to be held up close (but…

So I have been back on low carb (after a bad hiatus) since end of July. I had a few bad days here and there, tried up'ing carbs to eat low glycemic, etc but been faithfully back on induction for few weeks now. I had also incorporated exercise (because I dont want to be toooo flabby as I am losing). So how does one know…

If I am not mistaken, I think I have read before that you do not believe in the calories in/calories out theory. Excuse me if I am wrong :) BUT my question is, sometimes I am hungry after work (I get off between 2am and 4am from the emergency room) and I try not to eat but I do often sneak some sausage, cheese or maybe…

I low carb (30g or less per day) and I do not eat breads, cereals, etc). Now I will occasionally have a low carb wrap/tortilla or make a flax muffin but generally I stick to meat, cheese, eggs and a select group of veggies.
-
I also low carb and aim for 30g or less a day. I get my carbs from various things like avacado, onions, peppers, brocolli, mushrooms, etc. I sometimes eat a low carb tortilla or make a low carb muffin. I snack on macadamia's and/or peanut butter. I was stalled for 4 weeks eating less than 1500 calories most days while…

I understand your frustration! I also have a LOT of weight to lose and I was stuck at 297 for 3 weeks and then when I started exercising more, I went up to 301 last week.... I up'd my calories and as of today I am 294.6! I realized I was eating too little calories (usually under 1500 a day) . Now I aim for 1800 min and a…

Yes! I bought it, did one level, one workout and realized I need to get more weight off (295lbs) or not force myself through it. But for anyone smaller, more fit, yes, yes! I recommend it!

I joined the group last night (surfing the internet at work haha). I am about to go for an afternoon walk because it feels amazing outside and then tonight I am going to do some reading up on it, thanks!! :)

Hello everyone! My name is Kimberly and I live in Maryland but originally from Texas. I joined MFP earlier this year but got off track when I got married in May. I rejoined in July and have been pretty much faithful since then. I have gone off and on track a few times but I guess that happens sometimes. Anyway I originally…

Jillian Michaels was the trainer used in the tv show "The Biggest Loser". Her 30 Day Shred is a DVD of her cardio/ab/strength circuit training levels. I am not using it for JUST 30 days, but for me at 297 lbs, it's a good way of getting something extra in, in addition to walking. I have been doing no strength training so…
