Well, I'm a pint-sized 64 year old woman with a tricky knee who is on 1220. I walk, swim, weight train, and walk. I've lost 55 lbs, have great muscle mass, excellent bone density, I'll eat back some of my exercise calories, but I try not to do so. I'm not wasting away or starving. I cook most of my own meals, and maintain…

Did I mention that I had a medical condition that made me sodium sensitive? I believe I also mentioned it's a matter of personal choice? By golly! Yes, I did!

I don't pay so much attention to what MFP sets as to what my nutritionist sets for me. I pay no attention to what those exercise calories say I can have. When I ate back my exercise calories, I was on a 2-year plateau. Now I am starting to lose weight again.

I cut them out entirely almost 10 years ago. I had a medical condition that made me sodium sensitive, and while drinking one soda doesn't have that much sodium, drinking several, or a two liter bottle does have a bit of sodium. I cut them out entirely because of the chemical stew. Personal choice, but I don't miss them at…

I am 64 and just barely 5'4", if I stand really, really straight. My nutritionist set me at 1220 to lose weight, with no eating back calories. It can be done, but it doesn't leave any room for eating crap or processed food. Considering my fitness level, I don't consider myself old. After our recent blizzard, I found I can…

Do you have a plan? You need a plan to meet this goal.

You say you are eating clean, but are you eating at a deficit?

In order to lose 90 pounds, you have to take an honest look at how you got there. Then you have to change how you look at food and how you exercise. That is a very aggressive goal, and any nutritionist will tell you to scale it back. Sylvan012 is correct. That is a tough, but doable goal for a 12 month period, but it will…

Right now I'm up to 55 lbs, but I only started benching about two months ago.

True, but when your friends notice you have lost weight, the cat is out of the bag. My friend and I were trying to coordinate calendars for an outing, and that's when she commented about "body acceptance".

Don't know. You haven't let us know where you currently are, and your weight loss objectives. Depending on your intake, 500 calories a day could be a significant part of your intake, or just a blip on the radar. It depends on your type of exercise and intensity. There's a big difference between a casual one-mile walk and…

"You've lost so much weight already, and you're in the gym so much. Don't you think it's about time you practiced acceptance about your body?" Said by a friend who couldn't understand that Wednesdays and Fridays are the days I work out with my exercise physiologist, and that I am beholden to his schedule. I still have…

I have no idea what "CICO is God" means, so I must not be a power tripping health moderator. Age may affect weight loss because metabolism can slow down. Having hypothyroidism can affect weight loss as well. My advice: find a good nutritionist who is familiar with hypothyroidism.

That used to be an option. Now that MFP has a premium option, you have to pay for it.

Welcome back!

My dietician said not to go overboard on eating back calories because most exercise calorie burn calculations are higher than they should be. He challenged me to actually cut my daily intake by 100 calories a day, stay in that limit, and not to eat back any calories following a long plateau. Worked like a charm. I'm not…

I gained 2 1/2 pounds, and I am not worried. I'm home, and it's time to get back to my routine. I'll be hitting the pool and the weight room in about an hour.

Get a digital scale. I have a Salter that cost about $30 that I have been using for almost 10 years. I measure most of my portions in grams. It makes a huge difference.

I can understand being lactose intolerant. I am. Yogurt with live cultures is a great calcium and protein source for me. Unless you have celiac disease, or have been ordered by a doctor to go GF, reconsider that decision. You are depriving yourself of a valuable fiber and vitamin source by going GF, and sabotaging yourself…

"If you are not eating back a portion,50-75%, of the calories burnt through exercise you are short changing yourself. MFP has accounted for your loss without exercise. There is a greater chance of failure if you aren't adequately nourishing your body." This is total hooey. I sabotaged myself into a two year plateau…

I've been experimenting with lasagna type dishes. I made one with ground lamb, eggplant and portobello mushrooms, with a homemade chunky tomato sauce and a ricotta/Parmesan/Greek yogurt layer. Topped it with a sprinkling of pine nuts.

Awesome! I have another 40 pounds to lose before I reevaluate. You inspire me!

Unsweetened iced tea? I drink lots of water every day, and I love it. Why don't you like water? Water helps you to digest your food properly, makes your internal organs function, and makes your skin glow. I feel sluggish and tired when I don't drink enough water.

I usually exercise in the early afternoon, and I normally have a light lunch. After a workout, I try to keep an apple, mandarin, or a small orange handy, because I am starving by then, and have a 45 minute drive through rush hour traffic.

I don't deprive myself, but I try to stay within my goal. My breakfast is pretty much the same, and I may have a light lunch, or just a snack, in order to enjoy dinner with my husband. I do the cooking.

When I started out, I did not know anything about realistic goals, so I saw a registered dietician. MFP also has a way of calculating calorie goals for you by entering your current weight, activity level, and weight loss goals. It takes commitment to lose weight, and part of that involves changing the way we eat and the…

I must admit, I was pissed off after having that initial conversation with her. That is the kind of thing that can trigger an emotional and eating binge for me. We have been friends for well over 20 years. I realized that she simply could not relate to working through the sort of weight loss as I have. I know she meant…

I was on a plateau for nearly two years. My dietician challenged me. He asked me to log everything, keep exercising, cut 100 calories a day from my current intake, and not to eat my exercise calories back. The results were immediate and continuing.
