so what can be done about this?

I found that since I was out of weight heavy duty exercising turned out to be too stressful and my BS went up afterwards. Regular walking for 30 minutes every day or every other day is good for those of us who are not in tip top shape!

I have always had high FBS and its discouraging to spend the day trying to get them down. I have tried car/proten snacks but they don't help much! I have heard that exercise before bed may help.

Yes, I agree! A few years ago I got my BS levels/AIC down to the lowest they had ever been via low carb. When I told my Endo she became angry and said that it was not healthy to eat low carb. I fired her!

MY BS are now coming down- under 200 which is not great by any means but better than they were. Trying to stay around 50 carbs right now and increasing exercise.

"A review published in the journal Current Diabetes Reportsfound that eating a high-fat diet puts people at a greater risk of developing insulin resistance. Artificial sweeteners may also indirectly contribute to insulin resistance." This is from the article. LCHF includes lots of fat. What do you think?

Last doctor's visit my Trigs. were through the roof as was my A1C. As I understand it, lowering the A1C will help lower Trigs. However, I am also looking for this info so hope others might chime in here!!! I am on week #3 LC and I have finally gotten my BS out of the 200 range! Its working but not overnight. Follwing the…

Thanks! May I ask what these are: MCTs, MUFA? Its hard to switch over the SF after years of being told they are bad for us :)

Thanks for the encouragement!

Hi Mary, I am also from MA. Glad to hear your WLS worked well. I have thought about it off and on but decided to try again the "old fashioned way." Its not easy though!

"As for weight loss, I was up and down all month, seemingly losing and gaining the same five lbs. Well, a month later I'm finally seeing the scale move. I've only lost 8 lbs, but I'm down a pants size and a bra size. Don't let the scale lie to you! Plus my husband has lost 35 lbs now. :)" This made my day! I am on Week #3…

Congratulations! I was just about to post to ask the question "how long does it take?-- I have only been doing LCHF for two weeks (this time around) and I am weighing myself every morning. I keep going up and down in a 5 lb range but not net weight loss. Feeing frustrated! Eating 50-60 carbs a day. Last time I did this a…

Look into what is called "The Dawn Phenomenon" - it explains high fasting BS numbers.

Your story is like mine. I was also told to get it together or take insulin shots. There are basil insulin and meal insulin. Its a route I don't want to go for many reasons, least of all, it doesn't address the root of the problem which is insulin resistance. I HIGHLY RECOMMEND to go straight to Amazon.co and order this…

I am on Week #2 of low carb. Numbers are slowly lowering. I think that the bedtime snack does help. I am also taking one Metformin right before bed. I have always have high fasting numbers, even with Levemir.

I am reading a book called The Glycemic Load Diet. It is connecting a lot of dots for me. The author, Dr. Rob Thompson is down to earth but very factual. His theory is that it is not all carbs that are bad for us but STARCH i.e all white stuff- Wheat/flour/grains; rice; breads; sugar. He also talks about Glycemic Load…

Hi all, What's Bullet Proof coffee? Thanks :)

20 a day is pretty low. What do you eat> I am at about 50-60 per day. Not making much difference yet
-
Wow! That's really low!
-
Thanks. I think I need to start adding in more exercise. May I ask Radill, how many carbs do you consume per day?
