Good question, I'd like to know as well. When I got within 25lbs of my goal, I moved my goal settings from 2lbs/week to 1.5lbs per week. I'm thinking when I get to within 15lbs of my goal (soon), I'll take it down to 1lb/week.

This^^^ don't rush it. As someone who just passed one year, and lost about what you are trying to lose, I can tell you it will be here quicker than you think. Eat your 2300 calories, and enjoy it while you can! Lol I had nothing but cheat days for some 35+ years, I'd say I've used them all up! Lol. That said, I do have…

Simply amazing! And I thought I had a good year! I can't even qrap my head around 282 pounds! Well done!!!

Congratulations!!! What an awesome story! I almost fell over laughing at your "next to the old lady" comment! Lol, I can toatally relate (on one of my runs, I had an older gentleman pass me... only, he was walking!!!). It's good that we can laugh about this stuff now!

I don't know, but it wouldn't surprise me. Certainly you are much better off being fit vs being fat, but the process of drastic weight loss has to be a bit of a shock to your system. I could see where dieting could result in vitamin & mineral deficienies as well (sounds to me like that's likely the deal with brittle…

Yes, just over a year. I just set my goal at 2lb/week, and followed the MFP daily calorie goals. So I guess that averages out to about 2.8lbs/week. I started out at around 2400 calories a day, and tried not to eat back my exercise calories (or at the most, ate back half of them). Now my goal is 1280 per day, and I…

First of all, "only lost 49lbs"??? That's a time-out for you! Every pound lost is victory, whether its your 49th, or your 149th. 49lbs is awesome! As far as loose skin, yeah, it's an issue. As Robin Williams once said of the Sharpei dog, "it looks like a bag a dog used to be in" lol. Kind of the same thing here. That said,…

Thanks everyone, I really appreciate it. Same thing here. I think that's partially what made it click for me. I stepped on the scale and maxed it out. I freaked out. It only went to 350 (only, ha), and within a couple of days I was 349, so I'm calling my starting weight 351, but who knows. As far as my routine, my…

Such an amazing accomplishment! Congrats on your new life!

Wow, thanks for all the kind words everyone. It really does mean a lot to me. I can assure you all that there is nothing extraordinary about me. If I can do this, anyone can. Kay, the only advice I can give you is, don't ever give up. If you have a bad day, just shake it off. Tomorrow's a new day.

That is awesome! Congratulations! Too funny, I just made a post yesterday with the same observation about how I used to break a sweat tying my shoes!

Proud to be in the company of so many amazing people. Unlike some, I knew it was going to happen. Once I made the decision to do it, I was either going to lose the weight, or I was going to die trying (and there were some days I felt sure I was going to die!). No surgery.

Your body runs on fuel (calories). Calories are calories, regardless of where they come from. If your body doesn't get enough, it burns what you have stored (fat), and you lose weight. But high-calorie foods (sugar) will not fill you up, and you will be hungry all the time. Not to mention, your body will not get the…

Congrats on your success! What an inspirational story!

I had PF several years ago. It was not at a time in my life when I was working out, so I don't know that I can help very much. My foot Dr. gave me cortisone injections every few months. Those helped with the pain a lot. But again, I wasn't working out either. After dealing with it in this manner for 4 years (and resisting…

I've had a HRM for 3-4 months, and just got a Fitbit Zip 3 days ago. I use the HRM during my workouts so I get a more accurate count of calories burned. I've found the calories I actually burn can be far different from what MFP's database shows. Some days at work I am a lot more active than others. I got the Fitbit so I…

DON'T DO IT, IT'S A TRAP!!!! LOL, just kidding. As much as it sucks, you will eventually have to give in and click "yes", if you want to continue losing weight. It does lower your calorie goal by 60-80 calories a day. But as others have said, as you lose weight, your body doesn't need as many calories to function. When I…

Wow. Thanks so much for all the kind words. It's a bit overwhelming. To those of you just starting on your journey, or those stuck in a rut, just know that you can totally do this! Yes you can!

Awesome transformation! I started P90X last week and have had to modify so much, I sometimes wonder if it's really doing me any good at all. I guess at least I'm not on the couch! Your post gives me hope!

Sounds nice, let him install it. No need to drink more, the wine won't go bad! Same kind of situation for me. Just before I started this journey, my wife signed us up for a wine of the month club where we got 15 bottles a month. Right now we are only consuming about 1-2 bottles a month. Needless to say, the cases of wine…
