I am 44. My resting heart rate is around 45 - 47 on weekends, 52-55 if I am thinking about work.

Shoe inserts that give support under the arch are helpful. I also found that stretching my foot out in the morning before getting out of bed helped, because everything would tighten up at night. The only consolation is that it eventually goes away on its own, but it sucks while it's there...!

Feel free to add me - - I officially work out 6 days a week on the elliptical x 40 minutes each day, but I usually end up working out 7 days a week by adding a walk in there on my "rest day". I would love to help you stay motivated on your journey - - I am on the same one!

I sometimes feel stupid when I think that I am looking pretty good and have achieved some good results when I am still class III obese and much heavier than almost anyone I know. But that's not going to stop me from celebrating the little wins every week. Because the weeks add up. I am 280-283 right now, which is still…

I was working at Frito Lay in Mississauga, and one of my co-workers said: "go to CNN and check the news - - my wife just called me and told me a plane flew into the World Trade Center". I checked cnn.com (when it wasn't crashing due to the load), and was immediately horrified. All of us in the marketing department ended up…

I find that planning about what I will eat during the day helps a lot - - once the food is in my diary, I am reluctant to go over plan. I've also managed to get all the trigger foods out of my house (over time), so that when I am at home, I am less likely to find food that sets off a binge. Good luck!

I have moved 7 times since I met my partner 10 years ago, and am something of a professional at moving. OK, semi-pro [grin]. 1. Boxes: book stores, liquor stores, and grocery stores are all excellent sources of free boxes. If you want to buy new boxes, a professional shipping company like ULine is a good source…

I second all the great comments people have already made. For me it is all about working activity into each day, and getting into a routine that I can stick to. I also find that tracking Every Single Thing I consume is important. I used to ignore "liquids", because how many calories could a drink have? How wrong I was! It…

1. Go to the washroom; 2. Test my blood pressure/blood sugar; 3. Work out

I used to drink a lot more, before I discovered I was pre-diabetic and had to religiously watch my carbs. Now I still find room in my diet for alcohol, usually wine with dinner now instead of Mike's Hard Lemonade or Long Island Ice Teas (which are too sweet and have a ton of carbs). Alcohol, like anything, is fine in…

I am 5'9" with a relatively large frame, and when I was last at 165 pounds (when I was working out religiously back in 2000), I was a size 12/14, depending on the cut of the clothing. It sounds like you are built the same way, since you have the same goal and height, so 12/14 may be a good range to shoot for. HTH!

When I was sitting on a cheap IKEA chair at a friend's house and it broke, dumping me on the floor in front of a roomful of people. Yes, the chairs were crap, and badly put together, but it was MY chair that collapsed. I started working out the next day.

I used to be the brand manager for Eggo waffles, and I love the comfort food aspect of this picture.

This will sound strange, but I actually find weekends easier. My partner does the cooking, and he makes sure that we are eating 3 balanced meals each day (whereas during the week, I am on my own to pack breakfast, lunch and dinner to the office). Saturday is an "off" day for me so far as workouts are concerned, but Sunday…

I will be 45 in October - feel free to add me - the more friends the merrier! :-)

I started at 333.9 lbs, and just over six months later I am at 290. I have about another 125 pounds or so to go before I hit my goal weight, but I am taking it one day at a time. Feel free to add me as a friend - the more the merrier!

I'm 5'9" and at my heaviest before starting to work out I weighed in at 333.9 lbs. I currently weigh 290.1 pounds, and my goal weight is 165. That would put me into a size 12/14 (depending on the cut of the clothing).

Tested my fasting blood sugar this morning and had a normal reading for the first time. If I keep up good work of exercising and paying attention to what I eat, I may be able to say that I am not "pre-diabetic" any more. Not yet, but sometime soon!

Congratulations!!! Way to go!

I'll have to look that one up - it sounds interesting!

Carbs - any carbs, and all carbs. I know I can still enjoy them, in moderation, but it seems like everything I love in food is full of delicious, delicious carbs. KD, popcorn, long island ice tea, Baileys Irish Cream, pasta, pizza ... I'm salivating just thinking about it!

35 minutes on the elliptical, plus another 10 minutes later in the day. Still getting my endurance up, but thrilled that I can sustain the 35 minutes 6 days a week.

I have several, because why stop at just one? 1. Wearing a smock dress and being asked when I was due, and trying to bluff my way through it, I picked a date that would have had me gestating for 11 months. 2. Sitting on a friend's dining room chair after a dinner party and having the chair collapse under me in front of 6…
