I found someone with Minnesota Lake ties! I'm from there, graduated in 1972 when they still had a high school, and went to college in Marshall. I've lived in SE Minnesota since--Rochester, Goodhue and for the last twenty years Zumbrota. I was the Postmaster of Oronoco for 18 years, so I am very familiar with the area just…

I step on the scale every morning and after every workout. I officially weigh-in once a week.

82 down, 23 to go. I actually set an intermediate goal of 60 and reached that last year. My agenda is to incorporate the lifestyle changes I made into my "normal life". So far, so good. The weight loss has slowed, but the trend is still good.

Congratulations and have fun on your cruise shayemini. I have had a similar path. I'm at about 23 pounds short of my goal, which is still in the overweight classification. I have had people tell me I shouldn't lose more weight, but there is no question in my mind I can and should reduce some more. It is your health and…

Like many here, I am there too! Congrats to you, nissamorin, you have done a tremendous job and deserve accolades for your achievement. I reached 199.9 a month ago, but I had to go through a wrestler's routine to hit that weight (minus the laxatives). I am now legitimately below 200 but would like to lose another 25…

Hey Jude. Hits me every time. Seldom mentioned as a Beatles song--Michelle.

My spouse mentioned that I should lose weight very seldom. When she did, she was angry, which made it very difficult for me to accept it as honest criticism or concern. That might be just me, but I suspect many overweight spouses are in the same situation.

My driver's license weight was 40 pounds less than my actual weight when I started MFP. Just when I was getting close to my DL weight, I lost my wallet and had to get a duplicate. I was able to reset my weight and I set it at my initial goal. I have gone past that by more than 20 pounds, so right now I am about 21 pounds…

I saw someone I knew in college and he noticed my substantial weight loss. College is more than 30 years ago.

Put together the dominant thoughts on this thread: 1) It is only one day and if you exceed your calories today, it isn't the end of the world. 2) Moderate your intake, you don't need to "pig out" and you don't have to eat the highest calorie items. 3) Make up for the excess calories before the festivities start. Do a…

Some of my MFP friends count their work as exercise. I see 6 hours of walking at 2.0 and think they must have a lot of time on their hands before I connect the dots and realize they are counting their work as exercise. I don't count work as exercise unless there is a drastic amount of physical exertion that is out of the…

I am pretty close to you in total loss (81 lb) and pounds to go (24). I have experienced a "pause" around 200 lb. but it has been from calorie consumption IMHO. I am heading to the gym after I post this and expect to be down a bit from my last weigh-in. Congratulations on your success and best wishes for getting to your…

Financial progress. I am trying to pay off $500 a month on a fairly low interest line of credit. Since I started MFP, it has been easier because of less money spent on snacks and fast food.

I watched "Saving Private Ryan" in Colorado Springs with my cadet son on Parent's Week. I shed a tear when Hanks said "earn this".

I'm middle-aged and my annual Doctor's appointment was an eye-opener for me. My blood levels were bad for cholesterol, blood sugar, and triglycerides and my blood pressure was borderline. The doctor said I had a syndrome that would result in dire consequences if I didn't do something. He suggested bariatric surgery as an…

I have a 24 oz. cup at work and try to drink two of them before lunch. Don't always succeed. Seldom drink much water at home, especially since it has gotten cold outside.

It isn't healthy to be overly obsessed. That said, if your number 1 lifestyle and health concern revolves around losing weight, it makes sense that it is the most frequent topic in your life. An appropriate level of attention to weight/body image/diet will vary from person to person--just don't let it control your life…

I lost more than that, but I've slowed in the last month. I think I am at 6 months now and have lost about 80 lbs. I wouldn't say my calorie intake was severe, but I did really cut down on calories while simultaneously increasing exercise. Ten pounds a month can be done, but it would take close to a total commitment to the…

Two different ones come to mind: A whole container of Oreos and a half gallon of chocolate ice cream. After each, I destroyed the evidence and replaced the "food". I remain ashamed of this behavior.

I try to find something interesting about a specific lower weight. For example, when I weighed as much as my Driver's License stated. The most recent mini-goals for me were 204.6 lbs, because I would no longer be classified as obese by the WHO and then 199.9, because it is under 200 pounds.
