There are some CrossFit groups you might want to check out.

I'd work on making my smoothies not borderline gross first off.

No.

Swimming is what I do when injured.

I agree with the esjones: scale the WOD if you have to. I think these are good: running, running hills, farmer's walk, pull ups, bear crawls, burpees, push ups, more pull ups, more burpees, more running. Balance work and agility. Think speed ladder, box jumps, plyos, kettlebells. Work on endurance too or you might run out…

It could be the early stages of Fibrodysplasia Ossificans Progressiva. I really have no idea because I'm not a doctor and you shouldn't listen to me but it could be that.

You might want to try the Avocado Chocolate Peanut Butter Pudding recipe that's on the Recipes board right now: http://minimalistbaker.com/chocolate-peanut-butter-avocado-pudding/

Wow, OP. Fantasic :)

That's what I'm getting at. I think we possibly do people, especially beginners, a disservice when we go into some huge theoretical argument when they just want to know "why isn't the scale moving?". The answer is probably often "because you're doing it wrong" and, would it be fair to say that, for most beginners at least,…

What's interesting to me is the difference between the theoretical "is it possible?" and "how is it done?" (which is where these discussion usually go) vs. the question often asked "is this what's happening to me?" vs. the other question often asked "is this what I should be doing?" I agree with @SideSteel that blanket…

No idea how much you weigh but you look fantastic! Congrats on your success and keep up the great work.

I'm bringing this up because I think it might help you stay with it this time, not because I want to be nitpicky about words. People come here all the time asking for others to give them motivation. I say you can get support here but motivation comes only from within. Consider that a dictionary definition of motivation is:…

Swimming makes me most hungry. I do get hungry from heavy lifting squats/deadlifts. Not so much from running. Protein snack after helps me avoid a food binge later.

Don't worry if you can't add weight as quickly as suggested. I usually do at least two sessions of each workout before adding weight and have been progressing just fine. Oh, and do follow the advice of starting very light because even using my method you'll get to some pretty heavy weights very quickly- the idea is you…

The only person I know who has done it seems to have gained most of the weight back after a couple years. Personally, I'd rather do just about anything to avoid surgery of any kind.

Older thread I know but I'll chime in..check out RKC (dragondoor) and StrongFirst. Also, you could google Pavel Tsatsouline who is essentially the godfather of contemporary kettlebell and was originally part of DragonDoor but now founded StrongFirst. Pavel has a couple books that are available on Kindle like 'Simple and…

Tare function is essential - I'll second that. I have the Cuisinart Stainless Steel KML-10. It works fine with my one minor complaint is that it uses an unusual battery.

Stretching, rolling, insoles, rest...all good. But the thing that has helped me the most was a plantar fasciitis sleeve (sock) made by Feetures. Whenever I get a little flare up I'll wear that sleeve for a few hours or to bed and it works its magic.

Yep. And also while doing Stronglifts.

Agree 100% with the other posters here. Do what works for you and makes you feel best.

This is a long thread already but there just aren't that many possibilities: 1. You're eating more calories than you think 2. You're not burning as many calories as you think because: a.) Your metabolism is just different and you're healthy b.) Your metabolism is different because you're not healthy 3. Scale is broken…

According to the American Heart Association "The biggest contributor to our sodium consumption is not the salt shaker. Approximately 75 percent of the sodium we eat comes from sodium added to processed foods and restaurant foods." If you're cooking your own veggies, adding a little salt is probably not going to add much…

It's It now has a factory store and it's just minutes from my home. If you're flying into SFO I'd highly recommend forgetting about visiting the Golden Gate Bridge or Alcatraz or skipping the boring sales meeting you have at some Silicon Valley office park. Instead, head straight for the It's It shop - you'll be glad you…

Olive oil in milk doesn't sound great but I haven't tried it. Note that olive oil does have twice the calories as Hershey's chocolate syrup... so there's that.

I learned early on that if I didn't want unsolicited advice and comments (and I don't) it was best not to share it.

There are important differences between neighborhoods with HOAs, neighborhood with restrictive covenants (CC&Rs) and private, gated communities. If the neighborhood you describe is the latter and the roads themselves are privately maintained then you are trespassing on private property- it's not different from running…

I agree with your boyfriend; don't worry about it. Unless the streets themselves are privately owned and maintained, it seems unlikely that a HOA could have rules specific to what you do in the public right of way. There are literally endless possibilities and trying to guess which one isn't going to help anything.

People log all kinds of stuff. My rule for myself is I don't log it unless I'm primarily doing it for the exercise. So walking through the parking lot to my car, mowing the lawn, and housework don't get counted. That's what works for me but other people do what they want.
