Not all of this is directly related to my anxiety/depression but, generally, these are some lifestyle things I've tried to adopt that help me feel pretty good most of the time: CBT, no alcohol, limited caffeine intake, working out regularly (run/swim/or lift), keeping on a schedule, getting some sun, eating well and on a…

My plan: 1. Choose a method. 2. Be consistent. 3. Adjust daily calorie goal up/down based on observed results. 4. Avoid thinking about math and bean juice.

Boring, boring, boring, but when I really get in the groove, I pre-cook chicken and my daily lunch is a bowl of black beans with grilled chicken and a couple tablespoons of salsa mixed in. ~30 grams of protein in about 300 calories. I'll eat that every day when I'm motivated.

I would never bother logging spices. Most condiments I don't. I log olive oil, for instance if I'm using it in a salad dressing, but I just use tbsp estimates. I often round up for calories eaten and down for calories burned and have been able to get fairly predictable results this way -which I think should be the goal. So…

Nice work OP! I do think the key is to be open to continual adjustment in your nutrition plan. Thanks for sharing what works for you and maybe it will be useful to others.

I think this. I prefer cotton or the UA Charged Cotton for my workouts - unfortunately, they're not paying me to say this :). The less natural fibers seems to hold smell more to me.

I think that's a bad entry too because 1kg of oranges doesn't have anywhere near that much protein either. One orange probably has about 2g protein.

My gym reopened but I'm not going back until there's a vaccine or better therapeutics.

I wear a mask everywhere they are required and even if not required if it makes sense. I also wear pants everywhere they are required and I don't complain about my "rights" being infringed on. It's the right thing to do whether you believe in the effectiveness or not.

There's been some conflicting research on this question but, even when studies have shown increased metabolism, the effect was very small. Now, I don't have the expertise to evaluate the research but I do know there are enough other good reasons to drink green tea that I drink it daily. If it happens to burn an extra…

I use a salad plate, not a dinner plate, and don’t have seconds of anything except veggies/salads.

Your post made me wonder: don't people have gardens anymore? I mean, we weren't rich when I was growing up but land was cheap where we lived and my parents had a huge garden. Kept us fed with so many fresh veggies and canning, etc. Where I live now, space is at such a premium-I guess I could grow a lot if I really got…

Hey Anvil! I totally agree and certainly wouldn't argue that they are an accurate reflection of society in general. I'd say more that they are a reflection of our "ideals" which, in film at least, it seems have trended larger for men and smaller for women over the past half century.

I'm not a WW or OT person but here are a few things I'd note, not sure if they apply to you. First, In my opinion the calorie burn estimates here on MFP are wildly inflated. For me, they seem about right when I cut them in half. Second, if you've lost 40 pounds, you'd need to re-calculate your TDEE to determine the amount…

It's pretty clear that our reference points have changed. If you watch an old movie from the 1960s or earlier the men are mostly much thinner than the average man today. Not sure if they were any healthier since they are typically chain smoking and pounding Scotch- but definitely thinner.

You can create your own exercises with custom calorie burns. In the web version you can go to Exercise>My Exercises then hit the 'Create Exercise' button. You'll need some way to estimate the calorie burn such as wearing a heart rate monitor once while doing the work. Hope that helps.

Not usually. If a morning race I'll have something like a waffle with peanut butter an hour before. Everyone is different so you have to find what works for you.

I've been doing some exercises I found on youtube and they're helping but recovery is slow going.

Congrats to you! Of course, it's quite possible to lose or maintain weight while still using alcohol. I managed to do that for several years until I gave it up for other reasons and have to agree - I'm better off without it.

I'm very picky about my seafood but can tell you that the frozen wild Alaskan salmon I get at Costco is far better than any farmed salmon I've ever had.

I love running in the rain. Makes be feel more badass. Lightning, no, but that's usually not a problem in my part of the world.

I see globes from the 1920's and 1930's on eBay all the time. Also spot them in local antique stores quite a bit. Most of them aren't rare and usually not expensive either. Here's a nice post-WWII one:…

Gyms all have their own vibe.

Fantastic job so far! Wow.

I either make my own with olive oil and balsalmic vinegar plus whatever I feel like or, if I'm really into saving some calories I use salsa.

I think it's important what your relationship is with these people and what you want it to be. If it's a friend that you hope to keep and the comments seem to be coming from genuine concern, that would be handled one way. I'd want to thank them for their concerns but explain why they're wrong. On the other hand, if the…

Most often right around 50 but ranges between 45-55

Wouldn't know, I've never done it.

@NorthCascades - But I don't think the standard for success should necessarily be fewer people drinking. Instead, I would think it should be healthier societal attitudes and behaviors towards drinking.

I agree with others who have said it would probably be pretty easy to find a doctor to say your weight is fine. You could probably save a trip by getting your Rx for medical pot for your back pain and your letter for your presidential campaign at the same time.
