I think thats a bit of a cop-out. Its obvious in those photos that she is not sticking to a serious diet/workout plan. Why shouldn't I aim for better than that, just because she currently isn't?

Pass - sorry, I think there is too much of an age difference ;)

When you open the snack draw and reach past the chocolate for the almonds...

Unless you are reasonably fit and strong already, I would reccomend starting with 30DS. You dont neccessarily need to stick with it for 30 days - I just do each level until I can keep up with Natalie (doing the harder versions of exercises), then move on. Once you've mastered that, move onto Ripped in 30. Ripped in 30 is…

My hubby always puts his weight on his belly. And yes, its hard. I haven't read about visceral fat before (I'm usually more interested womens fatty issues lol) but that makes sense. I can punch him in the stomach and its like a rock (he used to joke that it was all muscle). As soon as he starts hitting the gym, it shrinks…

I found the whole thing on youtube. Just do a search.

Agree, if I go all out and do 7 days a week it isn't long before my body tells me this isn't working anymore!! If I'm feeling super motivated and crazy, I'll go for a walk on my rest day so I still feel like I'm moving.
-
I have the same problem. I just skip the scale that week so I don't get too worked up about it.

Just a word of warning based on my personal experience: be careful cutting your calories too low when you are close to your goal. I also had a small amount to lose when I joined, and set my goals to 1lb a week. Went great for about 3 or 4 weeks, was very happy with the results, and then...I hit a BIG wall. I was exhausted…

I think when first starting a more intense workout level it can be normal to feel a bit over-tired, but if you've been doing the zumba classes for more than a couple of weeks, I'll add a vote for possibly not eating enough. When I try to cut calories back too far, I get so exhausted when I workout. Maybe try bumping your…

Thanks I will check that link out :)

I think having someone else can be good for motivation, as you have someone you want to look good for and who will appreciate the results, but honestly....I think it is much easier to make lifestyle changes if you are single. My SO is generally supportive, but he is completely against making any big diet changes for…

I took the last week and a bit off....and gained a kilogram straight away. Counting calories is really what keeps me accountable for not going overboard on the crap. I'm a bit anal retentive and I like numbers too, but it gets me stuck on it rather than enjoying it.

Ha! You americans have it easy. Low fat greek yogurt doesnt seem to exist here, its 10% or nothing. So I eat the 10% and just make room for the fat.

hahahahah THIS!!!

Nothing wrong with eating after you get home from work, I work shift work too sometimes and I know how it can mess up your eating habits. If you know you will eat that extra meal, just plan for it - my hours atm mean that I eat two breakfasts (4am and 8am), plus lunch, so I just plan my days that I eat 3 small-ish meals…

You can do it on MFP, under the foods tab is 'Recipes' - plug in all your ingredients, specify the number of servings and voila!
-
Reason for going for a bar is I go to the gym right after work and then dont get home sometimes for an hour after finishing my workout - so shakes or protein rich meals immediately post workout are not always possible. I need something to fill that gap and obviously a bar is most convenient. Have thought about making my…

this thread is killing me. breakfast makes you impotent and you should eat dinner like a popper! lmao.

Ran 7ks outside (45 mins). Will go for a walk later to stretch my legs.
-
Next time ask for grilled fish instead of fried, and get a salad instead of chips. Simple.
-
No way. Skipping breakfast sets me up to be tired, weak, grumpy and damn hungry!! Everyone is different but doesnt work for me at all.

To clarify, I'm not worried about gaining a little weight as long as a good amount of it is muscle and I don't start to look fatter rather than toned. I have very slightly upped my calories (from 1930 to 2000), will weigh in on Monday and adjust again if neccesary (think I will need to go higher). Have also adjusted my…

I joined the gym two weeks ago. At the moment just using machines, thinking about getting the new rules of lifting book already mentioned above and starting free weights soon. Have already seen a big difference just after 5 trips to the gym. Belly, butt and thighs are heaps tighter and have lost 1cm+ on all measurements.…

Take a look at this: http://www.iifym.com/tdee-calculator You can calculate your TDEE a little more accurately than on MFP (which is just sedentary, lightly active etc) by calculating how much time you spend each day at different activity levels. For me, MFP's calculation was a little lower than this website, I'm sure that…

Agree with eating more. When I joined MFP, I didn't have much to lose, but was so gung ho about it that I set my loss to 1lb a week and was working out 6 days. Felt great for 3 weeks then hit a wall and completely crashed. Could barely get off the couch for 2 days, fell of the wagon big time for about a month. I just…

cooked apple with a little cinammon. frozen berries (frozen, thawed or heated) or sliced banana and honey (I know you said you dont like honey but mmm this is my favourite).

Thanks for that! I'm really not too stressed about gaining muscle quickly, I just want to start to look a bit 'tighter' and anything beyond that is a bonus, I'm willing to wait. Just really dont want to start looking losing any more right now. How much cardio is too much? At the moment I'm just doing about 10 mins on the…

Unfortunately I think its just part of being a woman, was the slowest part to start moving for me too. But keep on going and it will eventually start to reduce. Good luck :)
