  • Talking of allergies, I've just had to cancel friends coming for New Year as the top half of my face is twice the size it was. A Christmas gift of individual eyelashes (salon applied) has turned into a supersize nightmare. My eyes and tops of my cheeks are so swollen and bruised they look like they are about to split (in…
  • Was 165lb the morning before Christmas Eve. Ate without counting cals on Christmas Eve and Day (including 4 mince pies, sticky toffee pud with Baileys cream, roasties with oil, etc) and was 171.8 on Boxing Day morning. 6.8lbs up in two days (which is fine - I understand how and why). Back to deficit and each day weight has…
  • 5ft 1.5" tall, 165lbs, UK size 14 ish.
  • Well, your boots pic ended up with me having a pair of sequin (yes, sequin!) boots sitting in my checkout basket until I come to my senses. And here is a pic my son took of part of our Christmas table yesterday, posted with the line, "May your everything come wrapped in bacon this Christmas". Having been in freefall for a…
  • Some weeks more, some less, but on average that sounds about right. I'll try at around the level you suggest and monitor things, taking into account water weight fluctuations etc. I'll also try not to panic that it'll all go horribly wrong and I'll put it all back on (in 2/3 weeks, haha - I know, totally irrational).…
  • Thanks for the welcome - Brit here :) I know how to edit and post a single quote, but if I want to quote one of two or more, that's where it all goes down the pan. I read a lot but rarely post - I expect I'll get the hang of it in time.
  • . One of these days I'll work out how to use the 'quote' properly and how to delete a post!
  • "Well, it's hard to tell what happened there with actual fat loss due to not knowing what your weight was before the weekend. That high weight is artificially high due to extra food and water in your system, so it wasn't all fat loss that you saw on the scale that week. When you say you check and double check everything,…
  • Thanks for the good advice. I'll start at 1450 and see where I go from there.
  • I'm ridiculously pedantic when it comes to logging, even pre-packaged 'calorie-counted' foods I weigh as they are often incorrect. I check and re-check everything, always. It may be slower because of the oestrogen-stripping hormone drugs I'm on (others complain about weight gain, which I know is more to do with feeling…
  • Thank you. Yes, I think that's right. I think my maintenance will be 1675 (or around there - I know it's not a perfect science), but would like to be sure.
  • I've read through this entire thread and I'm doing my best to absorb all the incredible info provided by you guys. Taking on board what you've said, I'm going to head into a diet break. I'm down from 233 to 165 with only a short stop in the middle, so it makes sense. I'd like some help to work out what my maintenance cals…
  • I saw that too - along with the 'being vegan cured my cancer'. No wonder we have some of the daft posts on these boards that we have if people are being fed that crud and believing it. I despair.
  • I don't know what treatment you are referring to, but hope things are progressing well for you. I'm out the other side of breast cancer now. I've been on Anastrazole for about 16 months. The drug is reported/reputed to make it difficult to lose weight and far easier to gain weight. However, in the year since I started…
  • I'm not the biggest fan of salad and can only eat with a dressing. My go to is now balsamic vinegar with fresh lemon juice, sriracha and a squirt of liquid sweetener (I like sweetish dressings).
  • I add sweetener, and sometimes some lemon juice/zest, and eat it with berries and sugar free jelly. Tastes just like a really decadent cream. I eat it this way every day.
  • For those that asked...I drink tea/coffee or/and water before my first meal of the day at post 2pm. I drink tea/coffee with skimmed milk from my calorie allowance. As mentioned, I fast not for the benefits of fasting, but to accumulate calories for later in the day.
  • Zara-pi no, it makes no difference when you eat your calories, just how many of them :)
  • I fast in the mornings and don't eat my first meal until gone 2pm. The fasting is not the important part for me, it's just the vehicle I use to be able to accumulate calories so I can eat more later in the day when I am hungrier. I also find if I eat breakfast, I'm hungry for the whole day. I'm on 1200 calories, and find I…
  • Thank you! We are in Episode 4 (Team Pulsar). Keep everything crossed for us. :)
  • You already look like the after picture I'll never be. Seriously. You are absolutely beautiful.
  • Thanks for your kind words folks. The journey continues. Here's to the next 14lbs. :)
  • Lots of good suggestions here, but sometimes just eating them with freshly cracked black pepper and sea salt is delicious too.
  • If daily fluctuations can lead you to bingeing, then perhaps weighing daily is not the best for you. How about twice a month, or monthly?
  • Same as almost every day because I love it! Wholemeal pitta, 2 thin slices roast beef, 35g caramelised onion houmous, baby spinach, mixed fresh peppers, red onion, sriracha sauce and lemon juice. So tasty!
  • All the things listed by others above, but in addition, for me, I've discovered baby spinach. It's so much denser than many other salad leaves that I can have 100g of that (with other salad veg and home-made dressing) with a portion of protein of choice and feel I've eaten a damn good meal.
  • I certainly enjoy my food in a different way. Before, I would grab whatever I wanted, when I wanted it until I felt full (which usually meant above a 'standard' portion size). I would enjoy it, but fairly mindlessly. Now, I really zone in on every bite. I savour each different flavour in a meal in a way I didn't before.…
  • My daughter wore her Fitbit when she did some waitressing. Including the walking she did during her lunchbreak, she'd regularly clock up over 20,000 steps.
  • If it helps, I don't know if this is true of all treadmills, but mine folds up out of the way when not in use. I lost 60lbs without exercise but realised that without a change in lifestyle and attitude, I'd be unlikely to keep it off in the long term, so wanted to find something I enjoyed doing without an excuse (the…
  • Hi, I'm also from the UK and find the weather can make the desire to head out for a walk less than, well, desirable. To combat this, I bought a treadmill on Ebay. Budget restrictions meant I bought it second-hand. As it turned out, it wasn't working, so managed to snag it for 99p! Luckily my OH and son are fixers, and…
