So after 11 pages, has any consensus been reached to those two questions?

The use of splenectomies has decreased significantly in Europe and the US in general due to the advent of other treatments. White blood cell scans are regularly performed in the US.

I'm in Europe, I speak English, French and Spanish fluently. My German is good. What "proof" can you point out? The idea of grouping AI diseases together in this thread just doesn't make sense to me - mechanisms and manifestations are so different and complex that these types of generalisations just lead to frustrating…

Nice blog @stoshew71 Sixth type of runner, I'm trying to leave the science behind and find a different run. Journey, not the miles.

But that isn't what I wrote.

Long term, changing macros does exactly change calorie burned. If you eat a low protein diet that then results in LBM loss will, in turn, drive down TDEE by 7 to 21 cals per lb lost of lbm. That's up to a free meal a month for each lb of lbm lost. If you eat a low fat diet and drive thyroid temp regulation down (up to…

Macros aren't irrelevant but they are of relatively small relevance for most people if they meet basic requirements. Losing LBM will impact long term weight loss, reduced pituitary or thyroid function will impact weight loss, etc... but there are a variety of diets and a variety of macro ranges that can be used safely and…

Please read: https://www.sciencebasedmedicine.org/igg-food-intolerance-tests-what-does-the-science-say/ See at the least there conclusions; these tests are mostly bunk. Sorry.

Ok, so while calories burned from a watch are a good indicator of relative effort - they aren't necessarily 100% exact. In order to avoid overeating, here is what I do. If my watch says I burned 800 cals - I'm going to "I've myself permission" to eat back somewhere between 200-400 cals of those, if I feel hungry. It's ok…

Staple gun works better. Edit: I use on of those straps.

I'm not sure why people develop a false sense of concern about the obese. Why do you feel she can't be healthy and why do you think this is your concern? Do you tell people that don't get enough sleep to go to bed?

Vlcd's outside of medically supervised diets, are not supported by the site. Since you already have a binge history this isn't going to help. Discuss this with your doctor. Expect little support from a community focused on healthy weight loss.

What no lipogenesis? There are a lot of normal anabolic reactions in the body that are endergonic and not heat generating.

But a condition isn't just about RER. Consider PCOS - it apparently reduces the ability to burn fat, reduces cardiovascular response to exercise (beyond the weight factor) so that the amount of calories one can burn during effort are reduced. So while metabolism might be only slightly reduced - macro partitioning becomes…

1 - not much at all, if you take care of it. The major significant risk of these disease is weight - address that and the risk is close to normal (but see my last point) 2 - most ingredients can be looked up - otherwise start tracking volumes and guessing. Where do you live? 3 - At 122 kgs you should be losing at most at…

This is not good advice - a lot of people trail run that distance without issue. It is likely that your shoes and feet were not a proper fit for that activity but it does not mean that it requires "solid hiking boots" for the distance. Shoe size & fit, lacing, socks matter.

Generally correct. But don't give it a huge deficit - stay close to goal. And if you go over into the "red", it doesn't matter, if the rest of your days are ok.

Net calories here means the calories you eat minus the calories you get from exercise. So, if you eat 1900 and exercise 100 your net here is 1900 - 100 = 1800. If your Net > Goal then you over ate. It's an MFP term and not used outside of this site, generally. If you exercise more than you eat your net is negative ... Try…

Whole foods that are ONLY carbs are rather rare. ;)

As you become more fit, endurance wise, your VO2max will increase a bit. It's not really important except as a measure of capacity at exercise for advanced athletes.

I'd like to join and as a new rider I'm likely going to hit 100 km per week.

Recommendations vary - if you are NOT losing weight and ARE exercising then you are fine with anywhere from 0.7 - 1 g/lb of BW. During weight loss to prevent LBM loss the recommendations go up to 1-1.5 g / lb of FFM for the energy-restricted resistance-trained LEAN athletes.* (note that the first recommendation is for…

Your body will adapt, give yourself time. When I start a new program I can barely move the next day and a few weeks out, I'm fine. It's probably due to a variety of things including slight fluid retention (inflammatory response to exercise damage), so drink water, warm up properly and the best things I find - embrace the…

So basically, it isn't relevant to the thread. OP, generally not a good idea to attempt very rapid weight loss unless driven by medical issues.
