  • Popchips, hummus, greek yogurt-based dips come to mind. I just make sure to put my food on a plate so I don't over eat. Don't block me but... I brought a giant bowl of watermelon to a game night a couple of weeks ago and everyone went for that over the other options, so your friends might like that too :)
  • I don't think any of these angry people actually read your post. And I don't say that because they said no, I say that because their justification for their opinion doesn't make sense in your situation. I think you should log it. Just because you're getting a good benefit out of it (a super clean house) doesn't mean it…
  • Panera has some great low-calorie options and is my pick for a relatively healthy chain restaurant meal. A cup of soup and 1/2 a sandwich (depending on which you choose) is around 400 calories. I think I usually get the regular turkey sandwich and a cup whatever soup sounds good. The one near me has calories on the menu…
  • Bump for answers, I'm looking into buying a barbell as well and need some guidance.
  • Bump for later :) I'm 5'3'' and trying to figure out a good goal weight for myself
  • There are plenty of counselors out there that will be familiar with this. Just be careful not to self-diagnose to the point that you go in there expecting that what you think this is about is what it's really about. Speaking from experience, it rarely is! :) Call for an appointment today so you can get some relief soon! :)
  • The answer probably isn't in finding new recipes or meal ideas, but rather in finding a good therapist that can work with you through this problem. No shame in that. Best of luck to you!
  • I second the Flip Belt. It's a tube of stretchy fabric that holds your keys, phone, etc. I also have an otterbox cast on my iPhone and it takes a little bit of work to get it in there because the case is a bit sticky, but someone recommended putting the phone in a plastic bag and that works perfectly.
  • I don't think I have much to add to the conversation, but I'm in the same boat trying to decide if a Fitbit flex/Nike Fuelband/etc. would be better than my HRM (that I love and feel is pretty accurate). My guess though is that one isn't necessarily a replacement for the other. Rather I think they probably complement each…
  • I use mine just to make sparkling water and I love it! The CO2 cartridges last a long time (several months for me) and are less than $15 to replace. I don't love that there is splenda in the flavorings, and I'm not a big soda drinker anyway, but it's nice to have the flavorings available for if I want something a bit…
  • Great question-I'm curious to hear others responses. I am on week 3 of Jillian's Ripped in 30 and so far it's kicking my butt, in a good way (I recommend it). I've done the 30 Day Shred and Jillian's 6 Week 6 Pack before as well. You're right, you're not going to have your dream body in 30 days, that's just marketing. But…
  • Sounds like the consensus is to eat a bar of some sort. I'll head to the store on my lunch break and pick some up. Thanks for your help!
  • Amen. That "chocolate" coating is disgusting. I'll keep an eye out for this brand, thanks for the suggestion.
  • A smoothie sounds like a great idea-that way I'm also hydrating. I tend to dislike protein bars, but probably a good idea to stash a couple in the car in case that smoothie doesn't get made the night before :) Thanks for the suggestions!
  • That sounds amazing-I will have to try it.
  • I agree 100% It's personal for me, and I'm not really looking for congrats/advice/criticism from anyone on here. I appreciate reading the message boards and learning from/contributing to the community, but my day to day is my business.
  • 5'3'' 27 SW: 150 CW: 138 GW: 130 yay short girls!
  • 2 mini high fiber/protein roasted onion bagels (120 calories each, they taste good, and are made by a local company! Woo!) Whipped cream cheese Small Organic Mandarin Decaf coffee with half and half Wishing I had the breakfast sandwich/eggs & bacon that many people seem to have had. I *love* eggs for breakfast, but was in…
  • This is a great question, I'm interested in finding some new recipes. The idea of using a timer and having all the ingredients sitting out before it turns on grosses me out, bacteria can grow pretty quickly. Some of the newer pots will automatically switch to "keep warm" at a certain time, that seems much safer.
  • Great! You can also make it in a 8x8 baking dish, and just let it cook longer. It's pretty fool proof-have fun playing around with variations!
  • The amount of sugar that's in breakfast cereal (the healthier varieties) is really not that bad, so if you like it and it works for you, I don't think you need to cut it out of your diet. t's hard to beat how quick and easy cereal is. That said, if you want to switch it up, I suggest going with a whole wheat bagel and low…
  • Great idea to start out with 30 Day Shred or something similar. You'll still get a great workout and set yourself up to have more success with either Insanity or P90X. 30 Day Shred is also $10 for the DVD or you can do the first level from YouTube for free!
  • I tried P90X when I was simply out of shape, not overweight. I did it for a week and was so destroyed that I didn't continue. In my experience it's probably better to get yourself into a bit better shape first, and then start P90X or Insanity.
  • I've found that a good rule of thumb is that if you're working out at a high intensity, I burn about 10 calories per minute. I have a heart rate monitor and after using it for a couple of months this seems to hold true. Basically if I'm working out hard, sweating, getting short of breath, it's 10 calories a minute. I'm…
  • Sounds to me (given your sarcasm) that you know what it is that you need to do, and know that you already have all the resources you need, but are having a hard time actually *doing it* which is a problem that I think a lot of us (including myself) have. For me, it took finally stepping on the scale and calculating my BMI…
