  • I went from 400 lbs to about 260ish lbs and then went back up to 370 lbs. I've now gone from that, to 175ish lbs. It's been harder, in that I wasn't really trying the first time around. I was just eating at a deficit without realising, or understanding that fact. This time around, it was a concerted effort to lose the…
  • I don't log calories, but I assume I ate approximately a billion fabulous calories over TDEE. I gained a couple of kilograms, but they all seem to have gone to my boobs, so I'm not complaining. I'm not actually that bothered about losing them, to be honest. I'm right back on track with no problems, but I'm happier…
  • There's nothing wrong with smoothies in and of themselves, but having smoothies for every meal just sounds horrendous! As long as you're burning more calories than you're eating, you'll lose weight. They say that if you can't do it for the rest of your life, don't do it to lose weight. This is a perfect example. You'll…
  • Steel cut oats. I mean, I love oatmeal, and steel cut oats are nice, but they're not any better than the jumbo rolled oats I always use, AND they take longer to cook. So... I do like them, but I was expecting to have my pants blown off. (And I seriously want to make oatmeal for anyone who thinks all oatmeal tastes like…
  • I'm currently using PhD Pharma Whey HT + protein powder and after a very cursory comparison of the nutritional information, I don't see much difference between that and the Diet Whey. (There must be a difference, but I don't really care enough to do more comparing. :P) I use protein shakes and bars now that I'm more or…
  • Oh god, no. Do not shave your chests, guys. Or anything else. Love a good beard and some body hair!
  • This sums up my understanding of every math class I've ever taken.
  • I haven't used either, but I'm holding out for the Jawbone Up 3. Seems like it will have more relevant features than the 24 or Flex
  • My staples tend to be: Apples, bananas, broccoli, cauliflower, carrots, mushrooms, potatoes, tomatoes, cucumber, peppers, onions, bread, eggs, whole milk, almond milk, oatmeal, chicken breast, [whatever other meat is on special offer], canned tomatoes, cheddar cheese, greek yogurt, frozen berries, Nakd or Eat Natural bars,…
  • I'm less than half the size I used to be and have never been able to drink properly. Always such a lightweight. :( I'd say it probably has more to do with the fact you haven't had anything to drink in a long time.
  • It doesn't matter a great deal. Eat breakfast if you're hungry, skip it if you're not.
  • I used to be. There was a time in my life when I literally ate McDonalds (or Taco Bell, Wendy's, etc) at least twice a day, every day. I haven't had any of the above in about 6 years and don't miss it at all. I still eat burgers and fries and whatnot, but I can make it much better, with higher quality ingredients myself!…
  • Your weight loss will be fine, but your health and appearance will probably suffer. It's unlikely you're getting enough vitamins, fat, protein, etc on so few calories.
  • I cut out eating whatever I want, whenever I want. That's it, really.
  • By "pole dancer for money" I can only assume you mean professional polers like Bendy Kate, Dan Rosen, and Jenyne Butterfly. I highly recommend YouTubing those names, btw.
  • ...What am I missing?
  • I highly recommend pole! It's a great strength workout. It's painful - muscular pain, but also bruises, blisters, and abrasions, so be ready for that. It's also the most body-positive, empowering thing I've ever done!
  • Yes, absolutely. That's why I stopped logging what I was eating. I have a history of disordered eating, and logging calories turned into a game of trying to come in lower than I had the day before. I had lost 80 lbs before I even started logging, and when I stopped, I found I continued losing weight at the same rate, so it…
  • Eh. A personal trainer once told me I'd never lose weight if I ate fruit because my body would use the sugar from the fruit to power itself rather than burning calories. So, you know... even "experts" give awful advice.
  • I'm a very busy person too, and I find it really helpful to make big batches of food on the weekends that will give me a few days of leftovers. You can freeze them for later, reheat for dinner, or take them with you for lunch.
  • My body definitely changed. Went from about 300 lbs in high school, to about 400 lbs 4 years later. Down to roughly 175 now.
  • I prefer to shave my legs and armpits, but I don't bat an eye if I see a woman who chooses not to shave. This idea that hair on a woman is somehow "dirty" is ridiculous and speaks volumes about the people who believe that notion.
  • I'm mainly commenting to be rebellious. You know, with my forbidden uterus and all. ;) I second the idea of working out when you're most likely to do it. I get up at 5am to go to the gym because I know there's always the chance I'll have to stay late at work, and then be so exhausted I just want to go straight home. By…
  • "I have a plan I'm happy with and if I feel I need any advice, I'll ask you."
  • When I was actively losing weight, I weighed myself every 4-6 weeks. It allowed me to settle into the routine of how I was eating and exercising, which felt like an actual lifestyle change, not a short-term condition that I needed to monitor. That strategy worked really well for me and allowed me to focus on what I was…
  • "You can't eat _________ and lose weight." I mean, you can't eat *whatever you want, whenever you want* and lose weight (depending on what it is you want and how often you want it, obvs), but there's really nothing I ate before that I don't eat now. Also, gimmicky, fad diets.
  • It's a method of cooking. It depends on what you're putting into the crockpot. One of my favourite recipes, which I make quite frequently, is crockpot red beans and rice with chorizo added. It's fabulous!
  • I have very little time in the evenings Monday - Friday, so on Saturday and Sunday I tend to make meals that create a few nights of leftovers, then fill in the gaps with regular quick meals. The one that I do most often when I don't have leftovers available is a bit of meat (whatever I have that I feel like - chicken…
  • I really like them. I get them on Ebay since I can't find them in the UK. They make a nice, convenient post-workout snack and I like the amount of protein and fibre they have. I think my favourites so far are the vanilla almond and apple pie, but I haven't found one I dislike!
  • They might think you're an amazing person, but just aren't attracted to you. Nothing wrong with that.
