  • Its ok to leave food uneaten. Thats why I keep tons of tupperware. One thing that really helped me is realizing that just because it's on the plate doesn't mean it has to be eaten. It's also quite a few carbs for one meal. The foods themselves are pretty healthy, but the combination all in one meal might be a bit excessive.
  • Check out nerdfitness.com. He gives tons of advice on lifting in and out of the gym. There is also a lot of encouragement for women to get in to the weight room.
  • Be careful with school lunch. I'm a teacher, I've always been overweight, but in less than a year I gained 40lbs. The only thing I changed about my life last year was eating school lunch every day. It may seemed balanced, but generally it's very starchy and fatty. You're best off bringing your own lunch.
  • If you're looking for home exercises to try to squish into your schedule somewhere, check out the beginner body weight exercises on nerdfitness.com. Its a pretty good site for exercising anywhere, anytime. Good luck!

  • My tipping point was when I went to the doctor, assuming I had gained around 10lbs that year (after losing 20 during the summer). I had actually gained 40lbs and was 20lbs heavier than I had ever been before.
