There is nothing wrong with these items, but a lot of people with food addictions, like myself, find these processed carb heavy foods very triggering. For example, I have trouble eating just one piece of buttered toast. I want all the toast. I have a friend who can eat a couple jelly beans and walk away. I can't do it.…

Try eating breakfast. Then you'll be less likely to snack before lunch.

Do you typically gain weight on your period? I find I tend to gain just before and lose again once it's started. Re: Chocolate. I buy a sugar free hot cocoa mix and I find that very comforting. However, a little bit of chocolate isn't a problem if you have decent self control to stop after just a piece or two. I don't...…

It depends on the birth control you use. I didn't have a problem with weight gain when I went on the pill. Talk to your doctor about your concerns and she can probably recommend something for you. https://bedsider.org/features/328-gaining-weight-is-it-the-birth-control

I've made a rule for myself that if I allow myself to indulge, I don't weigh myself until I've been back on track for about a week. That way any water weight is likely gone and I don't freak myself out.

Try intervals or a c25k program. I find that if I don't allow myself to do any one speed or incline for more than 2 minutes, it distracts me enough... Or I'm counting down seconds until I am allowed to walk again. Either way, I don't get bored.

I tend to stock up on chicken breast and ground turkey when they're on sale. Buy lots of frozen veggies, since they'll keep longer and are cheaper when they're not in season. There are studies that even show they're fresher, since they're frozen fresh, then shipped, as opposed to the fresh fruit that has been traveling for…

I actually did check MFP before ordering at Moe's yesterday. I looked up a Steak Joey Jr. burrito, but it would put me a bit over my carbs for the day, so I decided I could lower that by asking for no rice. Brilliant! However, it turns out the entry I had looked up was wrong, because when I input my order into Moe's…

I work 7-4 and I find it easier to go to the gym if I haven't gotten home yet. Once my shoes come off, I'm not going anywhere. I keep a pair of sneakers in my car and every day toss in a clean pair of gym clothes and go straight after work. Helps cut down on me rationalizing excuses.

What is the name of the dish?

Not saying carbs make you hungry, I'm saying carbs aren't as filling as fats and you often require more food to feel satisfied and stay fuller longer.
-
Try putting the food you want in a to go box and taking it to eat somewhere else. That way you can make good first choices, not have to cook, then get out of there before you start going back for seconds.

There is also such a thing as head hunger. Many of use food as a crutch for when we're unhappy, bored, etc. Our head tells us we're hungry all the time, even if our stomach really isn't, and it's really hard to tell the difference! Try to decide if you're head hungry or really hungry with a few techniques: 1) When you are…

Under a nutritionist's care I was told to eat high protein, low carb, with a calorie deficit. I still have to count my calories; I still need to eat lots of veggies. Her explanation of this has not been that carbs are bad for weight loss, but rather the protein and fat are better at filling me up so that I am better able…

This part is really important. A lot of people think it's all or nothing. Do your best, pay attention to what you're doing, but just because you screw up doesn't mean you've ruined it. If you are able to adjust your calories for the day to make up for it, do that. If you can squeeze in some exercise to negate it, go for…

My husband struggles to get in enough calories, so while he does eats healthy, we keep around quite a few granola bars, crackers, bread, etc., that I should not be eating. What we do to help me out is most of that stuff is kept in a large wicker basket on top of our fridge. Firstly, out of sight, out of mind. Secondly, the…

Probably not the reason you gained, but there was an article recently on how many fitbit users end up gaining weight because it overestimates calories burned and lets them eat too many calories back. http://www.today.com/health/my-fitness-band-making-me-fat-users-complain-weight-gain-1D79911176

I like eating some turkey pepperoni or string cheese as snacks. They're nice and salty, but aren't heavy or particularly fatty or carb filled. There are also "P3" snacks that have about an ounce of ham/turkey/chicken and ounce of nuts and an ounce of cheese. They're a little higher in calories than the other snacks I…

Often I'll look up what seems similar in the database and pick the one with the highest calorie count, just to be safe.

I am using it with a heart rate monitor and so far it's been very accurate. I use the free version, but I really enjoy it.

Great! Thanks for the info.

It was just calculated backwards. 6km/h is 3.7mph. :)

The main problem with eating out, even healthy food, is that restaurants tend to use more sodium and sugar. Eating out once in a while isn't a big deal and shouldn't sabotage you, but eating out too often would probably lead holding on to more weight than you'd like.

I have a notebook that I fill with reasons for weight loss, lists, goals, plans, and inspiration. Sometimes when I start to stray from what I'm doing, I feel like I'm betraying the book and that gets me back on track. I usually use those times to fill more pages in the book to get myself going again. I've tried to approach…

If you get a pan that you use only for eggs and nothing else ever, they don't stick and slide right off the pan. Just use a quick spray of pam, if anything. Just never use the pan for anything but eggs and always use a wooden or rubber spatula... no metal.

Try wearing a heart rate monitor and then you can input how many calories you've burned. You can add it under cardio, just for your own benefit, even if it isn't actually cardio.

If you have a smart phone, there is a great app called Sworkit. It's a type of circuit program where you can tell it what you want to work (full body, arms, legs, anything goes) and how long you want to do it. It times out exercises in 30 second increments, building in breaks. You can do it first thing in the morning for…

My Polar HRM tells me I usually burn between 650 and 770 in an hour and I'm working hard... 600 if the instructor is terrible.
-
I weight 230 and I burn around 650 for an hour of zumba, but I am quite a bit larger than you and my instructor never stops moving.

I like getting chicken and veggies and garlic sauce and I don't eat the rice. A small soup is a bit high on sodium, but generally not fattening. Avoid fried things, noodles, and thick sauces
