  • Well I don't want to start a controversy but I don't eat my exercise calories, for the most part. I am not a heavy exerciser, and at my age, I need to get all that exercise in just to maintain my weight. At least that's how I feel about it. I'm gonna try to fulfill this week's challenge, but I know it is going to be tough!…
  • Monkey_moo_mc - 3 lbs!! That' great! So proud of you!
  • OK - I am chosen one for the mini challenge for Friday. I did some internet searching to come up with something we haven't done yet. Here's what I came up with. Squats Jump Steps - try 25 of these or 2 sets of 15: Step 1:Stand with feet hip width apart. Step 2:Tense the stomach and back muscles. Step 3:Start the squat by…
  • OK - did the crunches, hip lifts, and leg kicks. Drank my water. Didn't eat after 7:00. Took my usual walk at lunch for 30+ minutes, and rode my stationary bike for 30 minutes. Whew! I kind of feel hungry...better head to bed.
  • Just checking in...I am doing good with the not eating after 7:00 part of the challenge...as far as the mini challenges, that is another story. I find it challenging to fit in ANY exercise in my day since I leave for work around 6:15 a.m. and arrive home around 6:15 p.m. I have definitely been keeping up with what I…
  • Hi everyone! Well I don't know about the rest of you but this not eating after 7:00 pm is HARD! It is 10:10 pm. and I feel like I am starving. I had dinner at 6:00 but then went to Zumba. Did some of the step-ups and butt clenches, but not all. I am going to bed so I stop thinking about eating.
  • 100 crunches: check! 8 cups of water: check! nothing to eat after 7:00 p.m.: check! It wasn't too hard for me to not eat after 7:00 p.m. today. I went to a reception / luncheon this afternoon and had a small piece of cake there, and dinner was leftover spinach & salmon salad from yesterday. Since I knew that was my last…
  • You really like that little devil, don't you?? :explode:
  • Wahhh.... that means I will miss my evening ice cream snack. I'll have to think about this. I guess I can try it - it is only a week... I've never used this "smiley" in a post but I think it is apprproiae when I think about andreaie setting this week's challenge:  Just kidding!! If I didn't love it (and the…
  • OK - here is my recap for today. I didn't really go carb free - I just realized how many carbs are in my nightly ice cream snack. But I am OK with that - I look forward to it every day, and usually have a 1/2 cup or full cup, depending on my calories for the day. I also didn't get my power walk in but I ended up…
  • TEN glasses?? You are killin' me here! I've been struggling to get the 8 in. BUt, I do thank you. .
  • Or you'd have to kill us??
  • I agree with the OP, sorta, but "moderation" is still what I am STRIVING for. I don't wanna deprive myself forever.
  • Day is done. Drank most of my water, did the squats, was within my calorie goal, walked at lunchtime, rode stationary bike for 30 minutes...BUT opted out on the planks - just ran out of time / motivation. Tomorrow is another day.
  • Not a whole lot of info to go by, but you are right - you need to eat more. I'm sure lots of people on here will have good ideas - I myself am not a very healthy eater  , but don't you snack at all? Fruit, nuts, some protein? What about dinner? How much did you used to eat before you lost weight? I don't have any…

  • Just think - you'd have to log all those beers!
  • I am the General Accounting Manager in the Finance Division of a large commercial bank. So that means I pretty much sit at a desk looking at a computer all day. I've been busy lately, primarily due to a large acquisition and staff turnover. I arrive at work around 6:45 a.m,, and work until 6:00 p.m., on average. Some days…
  • Walk is done. Still working on my water. I am going to go ride my stationary bike for awhile. Bye for now!
  • Just checking in. I completed my lunges yesterday and drank my water. Today is an official day off from work for me, but I am in the office anyway. I will work on my water while I am here, and definitely do the brisk walk later, although the weather is pretty crappy here right now. (60's & rainy). I'll add my thanks to…
  • Hiked for about 6 hours today on some trails in a great park. It was hot & humid. drank all my water, but unfortunately, I was just too pooped to do my sit-ups today. :blushing:
  • OK - so usually I drink about 4-5 glasses of water each day. Yesterday, I drank the full 8, and maybe a little more. Well - I got up about 4 times during the night to pee. Usually I don't get up at all (unless I have coffee or tea at night, which I usually don't). I am 54 years old and I know age compounds this syndrome.…
  • Well, health reasons is a big one. I am 54 and I want to enjoy the next 30 years or so, which means I need to be healthy. Also, when I am not over weight or feeling stuffed into my clothes, I feel so much better about myself. I don't think it is the classic "no self confidence" syndrome. It just feels so much better to be…
  • Good morning. I am excited to get started. I am not sure about the carbs - I don't usually monitor them and wasn't prepared, but I will commit to being more aware and trying to limit them this week. Here's my story. I have been using MFP for a little more than a year and a half now. I pretty much reached my goal weight…
  • That's a long time but I need the motivation. I was down close to where I wanted to be by late Spring, but I have slipped up over the Summer. :drinker: Count me in!
  • Wow - we certainly have a broad range of opinions, don't we? I guess that is just an indicator of how different people are, and there is nothing wrong with that. Personally, I am of the ''moderation" school of thought . I always keep a few in my freezer and they are a lifesaver on days when I don't have fresh…
  • Yep - sure do! Sometimes there seems to be a pattern, but other times - none! Right now I am kind of on maintenance so I just try to keep below a certain limit, and if I creep up, I really know I need to watch it!
  • Well - you said to tell you what we think...I think not going over 1,000 calories for 5 months is unrealistic. I don't know how you did it. That would never work for me! :noway:
  • Absolutely! It happens to me all the time. Unfortunately, I don't work out very often - most of my exercise is cardio - walking and sometimes zumba. So when I do the "Total Body Workout" or similar class at the gym, I always see a weight gain over the next couple days, to accompany my sore muscles.
  • I don't even think about anything that could be characterized as a cheat day, let alone a PLANNED cheat day. Since I am viewing this as the proverbial lifestyle change, it is just life. I try to watch my calories and nutriotional intake EVERY DAY, but there are going to be times when I choose to splurge a little. The…
