  • 40 pounds is even more than my ultimate goal. I would like to be about 30 pounds less than I am now, and honestly, at my age (LOL), I would be content at 20 pounds less. I am leaving for a cruise on March 14, and my goal for that is 10-15 pounds, in order to fit into my "summer" clothes.
  • No Ikea and no Costco. We have Sam's Club and BJ's. I actually bought a set of T-Fal at BJ's but then returned it. I am kind of leaning toward stainless steel after reading through some of these posts, and other online reviews. Thanks everyone. If anyone has other thoughts, keep 'em comin'!
  • She's not really much of a cook. She is currently a graduate student and has lived the "college apartment" life with other girls, for years. She is planning on moving in with her boyfriend after the Spring semester, since that's when her current lease is up. I think she is interested in cooking, and learning to make new…
  • Hi everyone. I just this group last week but haven't been active at all. I am at work right now so I can't post much, but I wanted to let everyone know I am here, and I will be checking things out and participating. I have zumba after work tonight, but after I get home, eat and shower, I should have some time. See ya!!
  • Sure - I will give it a shot. I had lost about 40 lbs, and sadly have gained back over 20 in the past year or so....I've gained 9 just since the beginning of June. I am not sure if losing 20 by Christmas is really realistic for me (I am 56 years old, and weight loss is a slooooooow process), but I am looking for…
  • Wow - I haven't posted in so long I forgot I still had my dog in his holiday sweater on my ticker. :blushing:
  • Does anyone else ever think of BACON whenever you hear the WeightWatchers' lingo: BLT's (bites, licks and tastes)? Or, maybe something else????
  • Ho made? That is just to funny.
  • Hi - I have found that the friendships that have lasted on here are the ones with people I have the most in common with. For example, last year I made a lot of friends with people in the United Kingdom that I was on a challenge with. Unfortunately, due to the time zone differences (I am from the Buffalo, NY area) , it is…
  • So why do I have pants that are an 8, pants that are a 10, and pants that are a 12 that all fit me? And why does my 55 year old BEE-hind not fit in ANY Victoria's Secret undies, even extra large high cut briefs? And pants that fit in the waist are too tight in the hips? And shirts that fit "on top" are too tight at the…
  • OK - I just read through the entire thread and figured I would add my two cents. I agree with almost all of these - some more than others. BUT, the opposite of the annoying "REPLY to ALL" is when people drop people off of email threads even though they really need to be on there. I work for a large bank, and my…
  • Threads like this just give me a reality check regarding the diversity of people in general. Since I am generally one of those people who think that my opinion is the RIGHT opinion, this type of thing comes in handy to set me straight. Can't we all just get along??:flowerforyou:
  • It definitely a challenge - I have similar issues (although not exactly since I am going to be 55 next month, and you are only 20  ). I agree with what most everyone said. I would say to try to be as active as you can "naturally" - which probably means taking little walks, long hikes, throwing a ball around, playing…
  • I've met my sisters (LOL) and some other people who I encouraged to join, but no one who I became friends with just from the site. That would be fun though! There are a few of my MFP pals that I seem to have a lot in common with. A few also live in my area, but we have yet to get together. It would sure be interesting!…
  • It is so interesting to see the variety of opinions on this topic. I keep mine open, because first of all, my friends include my two sisters, so I know they know me and my weaknesses, and it helps keep me accountable (like trying not to have to log too much alcohol - LOL). :drinker: And I also have a handful of MFP pals…
  • Uh oh...this is my downfall......I can't resist this - there are too many good cooks and bakers in my office....this is one of those times when I figure "you gotta live" and I try to limit myself to only the yummiest of the yummy foods. :drinker:
  • When you really commit to the "it's not a diet, it's a lifestyle" philosophy.... When your <1200 calorie day doesn't consist of coffee for breakfast, 700 calories of fast food for lunch, and 400 calories of snacks for dinner.
  • Great ideas AND recipes. Thank you. Thank you!
  • Oh - any recipes where applicable would be good too.
  • Great ideas so far! Keep 'em comin'! There are a few of my coworkers who have been whining about not knowing what to bring, so I can share the wealth! :flowerforyou:
  • I put some dates on the weigh in sheet - Tuesdays and Fridays because I think that's when most of us weigh in. I hope you don't mind, but I was confused about which week we were on.
  • It doesn't affect how or what I think of people, but as others have said - I like it when I can get to know my friends a little bit, and I enjoy seeing different pictures of my friends, their family, pets, activities, etc over time. When I see people without any avatar at all, it makes me think they aren't here for the…
  • I'll admit I have't been following the forums or updating the spreadheet - sorry about that. I can't update the spreadsheet at work but I will do it tonight.
  • I am going to stick with Fridays. I can't say that it worked wonders for me so far  but it seems to fit in with my "weekly cycle".
  • My philosophy is relatively simple, I think. If I am paying restaurant prices, I am going to get something I really want...something I can't (or don't) make at home. So I look at the menu, and chose the healthiest option among all the things that I really want. Sometimes it isn't a very heathy choice, but to me, that's…
  • OK so somehow I missed the whole group thing and I just saw a posting by andreaie on my "wall" about sassy by summer, and I eventually found my here....were you guys trying to ditch me?? I recall seeing something about a "group" on the valentine's challenge but I didn't know what it meant - I thought everyone was…
  • Opps I meant to spellie "tomozzies", no "t"
  • How about tomozzties? Pronounced TOE-motts-zees.
  • I agree with this one. And while I certainly wouldn't judge someone's ability (or inability) to follow the choreography or "move to the beat", there definitely are people in my classes who intentionally "march to the beat of their own drummer", and what bugs me is that they always seem to want to position themselves…
  • Oh yeah...THIS one. Where I go, there is a huge parking lot on the side that always has lots of space, but people HAVE to park in the rows right in front. And there are always cars at the end of the rows where there are no lines and it blocks the traffic lanes. I mean, COME ON!! You are here for exercise, people!!
