  • Thanks!! So how does this strap work- and where is it? Is is a nuissance while working out? You would crack up at the vision I have of it!!
  • I love it! I mean LOVE it!! Try it- check your inhibitions at the door. Where I go- and most places I think, the people there are going for a common goal- a fun workout... it's not a competition... you're only competing with yourself. I did feel a bit shy I guess you'd call it, in the beginning too. The way I dealt with…

  • I need one of those monitors you wear so Iknow for sure!
  • I know it can vary from type to type of yoga.... I use the 203 calories per hour for mine.. I do mat flow yoga/ pilates combo mostly.. Sometimes I do yoga and pilates separately. I do believe I burn much more depending on the way the class goes, but I'd rather be entering and counting on the lower end of calories burned,…
  • I totally did! I was checking on it over and over again, like I'd gone off the MFP.com OCD wagon!!!! I wanted to update my food and exercise for the weekend, log in my food for today to decide on a dinner menu... I was so relieved when I could finally log on. Very dramatic this morning for me! lol
  • hmmmm, I checked the site out... idk- but better than no estimate at all!! It's a great workout, and great for toning... It's as hard or as easy as you want to make it on yourself!
  • I LOVE pilates- I take as many classes as I can. I had never found it either.. will have to check PP....
  • PS- it gets easier as your body gets used to taking in and using the proper and healthy amounts of food.. you wouldn't go on a long road trip without filling up with the best gasoline.... right?? Trust me, you will start feeling much better and seeing improvements!
  • Rog- I think you should honeslty be kind to your body, and if you aren't willing to eat your excercise calories, at least split the difference so that you don't move into starvation mode. I like to try and have some calories left over too ( daily, I don't bank them for the weekend or anything either- defeats the purpose),…
  • You are an inspiration!! Good job girl!
  • :flowerforyou: That sounds really good- I'll have to try that out! Always looking for new ways to keep it interesting! Thank you
  • I bet I'm actually burning more- considering I've been a dancer for life, and I can sweat off quite a few lbs per class, leaving me exhausted and shaky- in that really awesome endorphin filled kind of way!! I should really get one of those little wrist watches that tells you all of that info as you're doing it- bet I'd be…

  • I love Zumba too! Right now I am taking 45 minute classes 2 x's a week. I had a hard time figuring out how to enter it as well.... on average, for my 45 minutes sessions, I have entered it under the dance category- and it's 279 or so per 45 minutes.. I know that is just an estimate... sometimes it's definitely more, and…

  • Random comment- I love that Kate Moss quote!! I didn't understand the controversy with it!! Nothing DOES taste as good as skinny feels- and by skinny- I am interpreting that as my optimum health size, nothing unhealthy or sickly!!
  • Well, I liked my Dr's advice when I was pregnant... he said a great evening snack was a piece of whole grain bread with a little peanut butter on it... I still do that if I have the calories left- one side of the Orrowheat sandwhich thins is 50 cal, and just a smidge ( I know that's not a scentific measurement!! :smooched:…
  • I did the same thing when I first started... I took a break after surgery and medical stuff in late Oct- present... but you HAVE to eat ( or split) you excersie calories- makes all the difference... I had only lost a around 15 lbs at the most, but boy- the inches lost were amazing....I dropped a few sizes quickly. Cardio…
  • thanks!
  • Man- these are all great ideas!! I am curious... when using applesauce or pumpkin as a substitute for oil and/or eggs... how much do you use of each??? Example: does one egg = 1/2 cup of applesauce ??? If it doesn't taste much different ( I'd eat it either way, my family may be picky) I would just substitute with either on…
  • BossyGirl- My heart breaks for you during this awful time. It makes me want to call my own mom right this second. I am so, so sorry to hear you are going through so much. I'm 29 and can't imagine ever not needing my Mom. Please know you are in my thoughts and prayers. Nothing is going to sound right to say to you now, but…
  • A Zumba dance class is excellent cardio- and very fun!! It's Latin based dance/ aerobics... so much fun, and you SWEAT so much! It's different every time, I never get bored with it ( and that's tough to do!!)
  • Land of Buck Owens and Merle Haggard.... Bakersfield, CA... the Redneck capital of the West!! We occasionally wear shoes.... We're the outcast of the West Coast.
  • Awesome!!
  • Good job! Congrats on making the decision to set a great example for your family!! It's hard to muster up the energy to follow through on some days. I think that's just normal for humans, period!! This site has been very helpful in inspiring and encouraging me- and I take it day by day... sometimes hour by hour!! Hang in…
  • I swear by yoga and pilates. I have the same problem- even at my thinnest, my thighs always touched... I swear they are more toned now... I have come to accept some of my jiggly-ness!! Now matter how hard I work, I am sure some of it will be there. I just got a great compliment form one of the guys here at work... must be…
  • You are the illustration of a perfectly "fit" Mom for setting the great example to your son that your health and well being are important enough to take ownership of! Good for you for getting away from such a monster! Keep up the hard work, and it will pay off in more ways than you ever intentionally thought of! We are…
  • I totally agree!! I feel much better when I eat a heartier and better breakfast. Reading this has made me feel much better- I felt guilty calorie wise for eating more calories in the a.m., yet I would make it through the day easier. It makes since! I feel validated!
  • thank you all for the info! I like the mind set off 100 calories per mile... that's a quick and easy refernce.
  • Thanks so much!! I found a website that said for every 1 minute of running, you'd burn 4 calories for every 50lbs of weight........ example :a 200lb man running for 10 minutes will burn ( 160 Calories)
  • Hilarious!! Yes!! Definitely should. We have 2 tiny kiddos- so if it happens, it better be fast and furious!! Logging calories burned would be the proverbial icing on top!!
  • Also forgot to mention.... working between my OBGYN, nutritionist, and trainer... trying to stick to my diet of mainly fruits and veggies, lean meats, very little carbs ( in moderation) and a little dairy. I get most of the carbs from fruits and veggies, and my rule is if it has too many ingredients, especially ones I…
