I added Arbonne protein powder to my regular fruit and green smoothie. It was very good, and has many benefits, but I gained between 8-10 lbs within a few weeks. I think for me the high sugar content was adverse for me. I am back to my 3-4 cups spinach, 1 lg apple 1/2 t cinnamon, 2 T flax and I add water as I don't like a…

What about the type of protein? Plant or animal.

I find that I stay within my calories but also was going over my sugars, proteins etc. I started reading the labels more closely. If first 3-5 ingred contain sugar, I tried to cut it out. Yogurt for instance has a lot of sugar. I cut it back and found a Greek variety with less sugar. Some fruits have more sugar than…

Congrats on losing the first 10. I agree with Vorgas you may need to drink more water and eat more food but ensure it's nutrient dense. They say weight loss is 70% diet and 30% activity. What are you doing for activity? You might also want to check in with a Dr. and nutritionist. This is happening to me right now, lost 10…

I have not seen licorice tea. I will have to try it. Pomegranate Raspberry is very good, I like the Yogi teas as well. Yogi Bedtime tea is the best before bed.

In response to your post on calorie intake. I decided to use this site measure and track my eating and excercise. The results were, I was not eating enough to lose weight regardless of how much excercise I did. I would actually gain 2-3 lbs and become fatigued. I eat fairly healthy. I splurge a little and have made small…

JephaMooi, how will you use your dietetic technican degree/certificate?
-
Jen how long did it take you to go through RD program and where did you go? I would like to find classes or books, but not necessarily get a degree or certificate. I have an MBA, and a few other degrees in healthcare, business and marketing. I enjoy reading information on nutrition, good health and want to learn more.

Interesting items in your smoothie. Seems you have covered all the nutrients. Have you had any lab work done to see if there are specific nutrients your body needs? You might consider hiring a dietation for a couple of consultations, not only could they help you evaluate your blend, but provide input on all your nutrition…

@nanc1109. Thanks for the tip on when to take levothyroxine. I had been doing well with it for a year, dropped form 4.7 to .7. Feeling more energy, but needed to lose weight. I started back to work and after a year went to docs and my thyroid was back up to 5.5. I had taken my dose each morning, but completely forgot you…

@mermx "I made a silly mistake when I first started on MFP, in that I walked like crazy, still do lol! Lost a lot of weight and now got the arm thing going on! So 3 months ago I started to do the tricep dips, arm curls, back lifting (not sure if that is the proper term) with weights. It`s gonna be a long slow haul, as it…

I found that rail push ups/counter push ups work really great for me. 3 sets of 10 - 3 times per week. Notice difference in just a couple of weeks.

VMGals, what is your favorite green juice recipe?

The three ingredient and five ingredient list is great for people to switch from processed foods to a healthier natural diet. Agree, veggies and fruits would not have a list, and may come from your own garden. Shopping for fresh produce eliminates the need to review ingredients, but out of season when buying frozen, this…

I agree with the raw nuts. Costco carries raw almonds and walnuts at a good price. I keep them in the fridge/freezer.

My story is similar to yours and others on this thread. I have about 60 lb to lose and shaping up to do. I want to not only look better in clothes but have more energy. I would blame the illness I contracted for the initial weight gain, but it's been five years and time for me to lose that story and write a new one. It…

Just turned 46 this month and working toward being fit. I am new to myfitnesspal, really any type of fitness forum. It's very inspirational to read so many stories of people working toward better health. My goal is to move 45 minutes each day doing cardio and 10-15 minutes of strength training 3-4 times per week. I worked…

Don't get discouraged, there are many small things you can do that will add up to increased energy. Everyone gets down once in a while. Walking helped me to have more energy. I have a ways to go to meet my desired weight, and to get their my goal is to get moving 45 minutes each day.

I agree Beezil. You should let yourself indulge in something special once a week to continue to stay on track. A rigid diet is very hard to stick with.
