Rosemary Walnut Chicken This is really tasty, and can be adapted easily (use different herbs or nuts if you prefer). I use plain greek yogurt instead of buttermilk because I never have it on hand. http://www.myrecipes.com/recipe/walnut-rosemary-oven-fried-chicken-10000001988567/ Ingredients 1/4 cup low-fat buttermilk 2…

Sounds interesting. Blending the whole lemon doesn't give you a bitter taste?

I realize that this isn't exactly a recipe like you're looking for, but that you're looking for, but what do you have against oil? If it's the calories/fat simply reduce the amount. I've made good vinaigrettes using a quarter to half of what the recipe calls for. As for the worry about expensive ingredients, yeah stuff…

http://www.skinnytaste.com/2010/01/asian-turkey-meatballs-with-lime-sesame.html These are good. I adapted the dipping sauce though- just honey, sriracha, and lime juice. Maybe make asian meatball subs.

Go for it if it's not breaking your budget. $28/month total for two is cheaper membership at some gyms. In the past, I've belonged to two gyms - one that had classes and one that had better equipment for when I wanted that. O/T but where do you all live that the Y is so cheap?? Where I live it's 70 a month + 125 joiners…

Chili made with beans. It can be made with whatever veggies your brood will tolerate and can be made lower in fat with ground turkey or chicken. It's easy, you can make it in a crock pot, and your kids can supplement it with cheese, tortilla chips, tortillas, bread, or whatever else if they aren't eating low carb.

You just have to suck it up and go. I'm 99% sure that whatever you're scared of won't happen. The same thing happened to me. I bought a groupon for a bootcamp class and it took me five weeks to get up the gumption to attend. I was afraid that I'd be the biggest person there, that I wouldn't be able to keep up, that people…

Someone posted chocolate avocado pudding/mousse on the recipes thread, it's pretty good and will satisfy your chocolate cravings and fill you up with healthy fats. I think the recipe was something along the lines of: Large avocado + 1/4 cup cocoa powder + 1/4 cup sweetener (I used agave nectar, but you can use honey or…

I got a big bunch of arugula from the farmer's market last week and made a couple smoothies with that: Arugula +Milk + Fruit (pineapple, strawberries raspberries) + a little bit of agave nectar if the fruit isn't ripe enough. I've also done mango+avocado+milk, honeydew+milk+mint+lime juice (makes a good cocktail if you add…

because it tastes like sweetened paste, has the texture of wax, and because when i was a child I puked after eating one of those pepperidge farm white chocolate macadamia nut cookies. Which reminds me, I'm not too fond of macadamia nuts either.

fish with a strong fishy taste/smell mussels olives tomato juice ketchup bananas and peanut butter (natural unsweetened peanut butter is okay in savory applications, but most of the time it makes me nuts when a come across a thread for a healthy/low cal recipe that includes one or both of these) white chocolate pig's liver…

You can air pop on the stove top. In my experience it just never works out quite as well but it comes out a bit chewy and scorched tasting even when it's not actually burned. Even just a tablespoon or so of oil makes it taste much better!

If you like eggs, make a frittata (eggs, veggies, meat, cheese) on the weekend and take a slice on the way to work in the morning.

Don't make it with water... it tastes vile that way. Some kind of milk (cow's, soy, almond, whatever you like) improves it a lot. Also add spices like cinnamon, nutmeg, or vanilla or almond extracts. Toasted nuts also add nice crunchy texture. You can use your favorite dried fruit for sweetness.

Smoothies using your favorite fruits and veg are good. The unsweetened varieties are only 30-40 calories so you could just drink some during the day for extra calcium.

Supposedly you burn about 100 cal per mile (if you are of average weight). So to get a rough estimate of your mileage and calorie burn try this: Figure out your stride length (take 10 steps, measure the distance in feet and divide by 10). Multiply stride length by the number of steps you've taken. Divide that number by…

Same thing happened to me at the beginning of Feb, all of a sudden it just started hurting without swelling. I went to my GP and got an x-ray to make sure there were no broken bones or stress fractures. My GPp sent me to an ortho who said my ankles are just built kind of lose - which apparently is common in women - (and…

You'll get benefits (ie gain muscle or increase your endurance), but if you have a calorie surplus you won't see much or any weight loss. I'm a good example of this. I started exercising last August, but didn't start watching my food intake till mid-November. From August to November I lost between 5-10 lbs and definitely…

Honey, balsamic vinegar, fresh rosemary, garlic, salt, pepper and a little bit of olive oil. Adjust quantities per your preference.

Slow it down. The first couple times I did the videos I decreased the playback speed by 10%. The change is pretty small so it doesn't distort the audio, but it made a world of difference for me. I was still getting a good workout (maybe even a better one, because I could complete all of the choreography, instead of…

Actually it's "Feed a fever, starve a cold" and it doesn't have anything to do with what you eat. A fever is your body's way of killing off germs because they can only survive at normal body temperature. So feeding a fever by maintaining a high body temperature (drinking hot fluids, keeping warm, etc) you help kill the…
