Post workout you will be fine, read the label, many protein bars are just as bad as a candy bar when you eat them at the wrong time. Many of them have a lot of sugar, and (for a protein bar) a lot of carbs also.

Protein (generally) fills you up better then carbs. When you eat some carbs your blood sugar spikes and that can lead to fatigue, and a feeling of being hungry. Protein is the building blocks for muscle and in adequate amounts assist you in losing weight. You need carbs but protein is also needed and will help you feel…

I fall every once in a while. Right now a plate of cupcakes are calling my name, Just made them with the kids and tried one. I could eat the whole plate of them, they are darn good. Usually I just don't eat the stuff that I shouldn't, Once I sample something, it is very hard for me. But I didn't lose 67 lbs by falling off…

not really, you drinking enough water? what is your heart rate and blood pressure. Have you walked a lot in the past or did you just start exercising?

If you can do your homework before going out, some places have tons of hidden calories. You just have to do some research first. You know what to eat, do your best and if you make a mistake remember it is just one meal. Also if you can try to go light for most of the day so you have a surplus for eating out.

try the website cool running, their are some couch to 1/2 training there. Let me know, a 10K is no problem but I would like to push it to the 1/2 by fall also

I only really worry about it when I know I'm going to eat out or when the family is planning on eating bad like Friday night pizza night. I think about what I might want to eat but don't stress out too much. I know now what I can and shouldn't eat and have several choices for just about every meal. In time the obsession…

I would stick to what is on the label. You can't accurately drain the fat and know what you have. Better would be to mix it with a bit of ground turkey or even pork to help with the calories. Even better is forget the ground beef altogether and stick with the lean meats like fish, poultry and pork I know where you are…

I've been there and heavy again, I would strongly suggest you exercise and follow the calorie recommendations on this website. Atkins is unsustainable...it is a diet not a lifestyle. If you follow this website you will lose weight at a safe and sustainable rate. The best part about it is that once you understand what you…

I pick the lower of the two, the conservative approach has worked for me so far

Yes it does, I ran X country in Junior high. Then didn't run again until a few years ago (good 20 year gap) when I first tried to lose weight. I used the couch to 5K program and can tell you 100% that it will get you to 5K distance without hurting you (most important) I didn't use it this time because I knew how to start…

Forget the word "diet" If you want to lose weight consume less calories then you burn off in a day. This website does a great job of helping you with this. Change what you eat, eat more lean meats and fish, poultry and beans. Eat more whole grains, eat plenty of fruit and vegetables, less processed goods and you will lose…

I'm with you, for me it is a daily fight not to have seconds or just eat everything I see. Some of it might be the amount I workout, Some may be I'm just not use to eating like this, It is hard in 6 months to change a 40 year habit. I'm with you, keep up the good work, thin and fit is way better then the alternative.

enter everything you eat or drink, when you follow this website, you will see results. 65+ lbs lost for me is definitely proof. I would routinely consume an entire days calories in one meal. Knowing what I ate really turned things around for me. Welcome and good luck

Their are a lot of factors that go into your daily weight. That is one reason why people suggest you don't weigh yourself every day. What you eat, how regular you are, your water consumption, time of day all influence your daily weight. If you feel good, your cloths aren't getting tight, you still have energy, then you are…

good to hear about your progress, I can't say enough good things about MFP. I'm down 65+ lbs and a huge part of it is this website

Don't be too hard on yourself, you should however lay it out for your family. They should be supportive and not destructive toward your goals. One day won't ruin things, you just didn't lose today. Jump back on the horse tomorrow and make sure you have that talk with the family, it may do everyone well.

Don't call it a cheat day. If you are going out and want to stray for 1 meal go for it. What has worked for me is if I know I'm going to do that then I will intentionally eat light most of the day and make sure I get a good workout in to offset it. It takes 3500 calories to equal 1 pound so if you go over 1,000 even 2,000…

It really depends on your taste. I like rock music but can't really run to it. Pop music keeps me going most runs, the faster the beat usually the better (not that big into techno) So on my Ipod is: Katy Perry, Ashley Tisdale, Avril Lavinge, Black eyed peas, Enrique Iglesias, Fall out boy, Selena Gomez, P!nk, the Go-Go's,…

It takes some time to get that "runner's high". playing Wii or other light aerobics probably won't do it. You need to be in your target heart range for 20 minutes to even start doing some real good and get the endorphins flowing. Right now I'm about 1 hour post 6 3/4 mile run and I feel awesome. This is the longest run I…

It is water weight, give it a day or two for your body to purge the bad stuff... It is fine To gain 4 lbs you would have had to eat 14,000 lbs more calories then you should have for the day It freaks you out a bit, but you did not gain 4 lbs
-
Hang in there, follow the website, log all of your calories. You will see results. If it was easy everyone would be thin, tan and ready for the beach. It is a lot of hard work, good job on your loss so far. Keep at it and you will see the results you want.

I would order what you want to eat but as soon as it hits the table box up half of it so you don't eat that half. Eating out at a place like this is not the best idea. If you can order what ever with no mayonnaise or dressing, stick with the grilled stuff. If you have to have dessert stay away from the cheesecake, go with…

Don't believe it, as an experiment see what it says before then post workout, the change in water in your system will change it. The best is to get dipped in a tub and have your fat calculated, followed by measurements then the electronic stuff. So don't stress.

If you plan to use the treadmill, it has to be a nice one. Cheap treadmills cause injuries and will only frustrate you. A gym membership will be payed for for years before making up the cost and maintenance of a treadmill worth running on. You have to get a Precor, Life fitness or similar high end home or basic commercial…

try going at a slower speed for a few days. Don't run multiple days in a row till you have been running for months. mix it up a bit, bike, use the elliptical, stair climber. If just starting out limit yourself to no more then every other day running. Try the C25K program so you don't push too hard. I know myself, I had to…

When I started, it was hard to beat that craving. I still have weak moments, but not quite like that. The phone app has helped I enter what I would order and that usually stops me cold. you can do it, just say no and keep driving.

Pro Complex by ON is one of the best tasting (in my opinion) it mixes well with just plain water and has a ton of protein for a relative few calories (60g of protein, 270 calories, 5g of carbohydrates) It works well as a recovery drink and I've also used it for a drink during long runs (over 1 hour). It comes in Vanilla,…

It isn't just a TOM thing, the last few days I also just want to eat...I think it is the spring is coming and I can't wait thing Hang in there.

The cool running website is a good place to start. Begin the couch to 5K program. Once you start you should get a good pair of shoes, go to a good running store and they will help you get fitted. The fastest thing that will derail you is getting injured, so don't push to hard if you have never run before.
