  • I am 49. I've exercised my whole life, with breaks from time to time. In my 20's, I would tear it up with abandon in the gym, on the track and I never stretched. By age 35, I had to have back surgery. The surgeon who literally saved my life told me at the time, "I will get you through this but you have to stretch every day…

  • That's the best one!! LOL
  • I agree with the commenter who recommended Hal Higdon's plan. Very easy to follow. For me, after I was comfortably up to 3, I just picked out a 4 mile run and figured I would walk it if I couldn't make it. I only did the longer run once a week, no more. 1st time seemed easier than 2nd or 3rd, sometimes I was walking the…
  • I feel you. Been there. It isn't easy or all of us 40 something guys would still look like we did in our 20's. It takes perseverance but you can do it. Hold yourself accountable, (MFP helps a lot with that), and give yourself an attainable goal, (like 2 lb a week), and 90 days. You'll find lots of good tips and ideas here…
  • I heard that diet is 70% of weight loss for what that tidbit is worth. Cardio for short term weight loss, strength training for long term weight loss.

When I bought it a couple years ago it was tailored to me and I would guess I was about a 32-34. The lady had me put the pants on, which I could not button, and, in a thick, russian accent said, "buy a new…
  • Add me, too. I am 47, my wife is one of the girls on MFP that complains about that 3 lbs of flesh. She has a perfect body and stays super fit. I consider myself very lucky but I need to get back to being fit myself because I see vacation pics of us and I look like a creeper who just paid a porn star to take a pic with him,…

  • I heard that most times we give up right when we are on the verge of success. Keep going bud!
  • Double sided Double density...I just got chills looking at that pic and thinking of statistics class!
  • I am starting p90x and my whole body is sore. I just keep pushing forward, trading in the booze for aspirin, and modifying as needed to get through the exercises. The positive is that the muscles are responding. I know there is a great looking body under my layer of padding and if it were easy to bring it out, everybody…
  • "the best program is one that you'll do" That's great, thanks!
  • Hey, kfm. I'm looking to lose 30 plus lb myself. I'll try to keep you motivated, partner. What program are you doing other than the app? I'm doing p90x. Not drinking probably will be my biggest challenge, so many calories but sooo good to drink my wine
