  • I tried to read Dr Zhivago, I couldn't manage all of the Russian names!
  • One additional benefit of a daily tbsp of flax oil is that it will raise your metabolism. Just by adding that one thing I lost about 20 pounds over a couple of years with the same activity level and food intake.
  • Spaghetti sauce (even the low-cal) usually has sugar or high fructose corn syrup in it. If you use plain pizza sauce it is very heart/waistline-friendly. It has pretty low sodium, usually no added sugar or hfcs, no fat.
  • You look great in your new clothes. Congratulations, I hope you feel half as good as you look!
  • Well, I'm a wedding minister, and have had to deal with many issues that might disappoint a bride/groom. The main thing is to not put off telling them. Be honest, call your friend and just tell him that you feel that he might be better asking a relative or somebody to be his best man because you just don't feel that…
  • Yeah! Good going!
  • I have RA which I treat through diet, gentle exercise, herbs and acupuncture. The first thing my therapist took me off of was sugar, not just refined sugar, but even fruit. I can feel the difference in my pain levels when I avoid all forms of sugar and sweeteners, have been doing this for 12 years now.
  • Good story, good pictures. I hope you are proud of what you accomplished! You look wonderful and very healthy.
  • Amen, but if you aren't sure, take a picture of yourself in whatever you are wondering about and look at it. Often I will think I look just fine until I see a picture of myself and realize that the outfit makes me look ridiculous. I'm 54, I still wear long hair, but most of the other stuff I gave up decades ago.
  • Dear Farty McPoop Pants, The problem with antibiotics is that they don't discriminate, and you need healthy bacteria in your intestines to properly digest and process your food. Get a good acidopholis or pro-biotic supplement, and be sure to take it on an empty stomach. Whenever you take antibiotics it is wise to follow…
  • I too have had many embarrassing moments (from being "mooed" at while I walked across the quad in college to several times being congratulated for a non-existent pregnancy)...but the one I remember best was a sweet little old lady asking me "Why is it all the heavy girls have such good skin?" in a restaurant bath room. I…
  • Awesome, you look fit and healthy!

  • Two things...your scale may not be telling you "the whole truth" and you might be battling a slight problem with inflammation. After several months of inactivity, then suddenly starting in at the gym and w/high protein diet, you might be packing on a bit more muscle than you are losing fat, so in that case you want to just…
  • Oddly enough, I was only 5'2 in high school, but slowly added a bit of height throughout college and early 20's until I hit 5'4. When I was in High School I weighed about 110 and wore a size 7, so I think your goal sounds pretty realistic, especially if you have smaller bone structure. Good luck & remember good things come…
  • I'm 54, no kids, married a long time. I understand your consternation, it does seem that sometimes people with kids have a different focus. Feel free to add me if you wish.
  • Good luck! I know with a health issue you will find it a bit more challenging to exercise, but take it from somebody who has experience with this, you will feel so much better if you don't allow yourself to give in to the easy excuses. I hope the best for you.
