If the pain is on the right side then when your left foot strikes the ground, basically the opposite side of the pain, and exhale as hard as possible, continue to do this until the pain stops. Also, chewing gum before or during a run can cause side pains. Good luck and don't give up!

I wear a headlamp, they are very inexpensive, about $15. I turn on the red light at dusk and once it gets darker I switch to the white light and point it at the ground in front of me. I drink Guinness almost every weekend. I make sure I don't eat junk when I am drinking and always get a workout in on the days I'm going to be drinking. I'm in maintenance mode and this has been working for me.

I like to make either egg or cold cut sandwichs on the Thomas 100 calorie english muffins, they are so dense and filling.

I have a favorite slow song that is first on my playlist, I just run slow through that song and then pick up my pace. This also works to keep me from going out to fast when I'm running a race.
