Can relate big time. When my brain starts telling me that "I can't do it" I HAVE to make myself take a self-evaluation. I think about my legs and whether they're hurting or not, think about my sides and whether I have a stitch or not, think about my hands and if they're loose, think about my shoulders and whether they're…

I am SOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO happy for you!! Isn't it awesome!! :) Yay! :) As for your question...I ran 3 full miles twice last week during week 7...but stayed with the program nonetheless. I just run further than prescribed so when she says "Cool Down", I keep going. Today was W7D3, and since running 3 miles was taking me…

Congrats on finishing W1! Keep it up! Before you know it, you'll be breezing through that 5K :)
-
That's awesome! Congrats!! :)

Really?? What an interesting idea! It's worth a try. I'll let you know tomorrow how it worked! :) Thank you!!
-
Wow! What an awesome update!!! Congratulations!! :)

Quick update.....in middle of Week 7...and am now running 40 or more minutes straight! Ran my first 3 miles straight last week, and again this morning. So, if you're thinking about starting the C25K...DO IT!! :) I struggled to run those 60 second stretches in the beginning....and now?? :) THREE miles straight!!

Ditto Robert. If you have a running store in your town, go and have them analyze your gait and suggest shoes for you. I will say that the right show will make or break the experience. I cannot imagine doing this program without the right shoes. For me, they were Asics. As soon as I try running in my Nike's, my…

Interesting idea....I'll have to give it some thought. Let us know if you do try this! :)

Hi there :) As long as YOU feel good, then, it's good!! Keep it up and before you know it, you'll be cruising through Week 9 :) It is motivating to have other C25K'rs as friends. :D

Yes!! Great advice! My first 5K is November 17th! :) Scared to death, but also super-excited!

I too am on Week 7, and I too came straight from the couch.....This morning, I ran for 3 miles straight (in 45 minutes). When I started in early September the 60 second runs were almost un-achievable. I was 50lbs overweight. Now, I'm only 35lbs overweight..... As Tinkerbell said above, relax, and enjoy it. It's addicting…

Before you know it, you too will be looking back (re-reading this thread) and laughing too at how easy you find it now :)

Awesome guys! Keep it up :)

I felt a lot better on Dukan than on Adkins, but I don't think that either is sustainable. Now, I just watch my carbs, and fat intake, and make sure that I'm burning calories. Loved the "galettes" on the Dukan; got good at making them :)

Welcome :) I'm 44 too and a little over 1/2 way through the Couch25K program. It ROCKS!! :) Welcome to the journey. It's awesome. This is a great place for support. There's a Couch25K group here, and there's also a great Facebook Page for it. :)

Me too.

Yeah, looking back at those agonizing first 60 second runs is amazing! I almost can't comprehend HOW it was so hard! LOL

Great job!!!

You made me laugh, and you made me cry, then you made me feel like anything is possible. You dear sir, ROCK. Congratulations on kicking the *kitten* of the life you were leading, and making a better one for yourself. A true inspiration you are. :)

If you apply yourself and stick to the program, and push yourself...yes, you should be ready. I'm starting Week 7 tomorrow, and yesterday I ran for about 40 minutes non-stop, not quite 3 miles, but I probably could have pushed myself to do it. Good luck!! Enjoy the ride, it's a lot of fun, and VERY addicting!! :)
-
Congratulations!! So awesome :)
-
Ha!! Awesome!! :) Yes, planning a different/longer route is a good idea. That's what I did. I made a Left turn towards the end, where I normally would have gone straight back home, and took a longer path back. :)
-
Welcome :) I'm in awe of you two.....I am gearing up to start Week 7. Have my first 5K lined up for next month. Reading stuff like what you guys wrote inspires me :)

Ouch! Sorry, no advice to give. Just wanted to wish you a quick recovery from that nasty blister.
-
Awesome job :) I don't think I could run inside anymore. There is nothing better than having the street to yourself early in the morning. Keep it up! Before you know it, you'll be posting what a breeze Week 9 was ;)

You're way faster than me :)

I'm a morning runner too, and I don't have anything other than a cup of coffee before running. The few times that I've run later in the day, after eating, I've felt really sick and had a harder time running (a much shorter distance). My pace is not fast though. I doing about 15 minutes to 1 mile, or a little less. I figure…

Ditto on the shoes. I know the pain you're talking about. Getting a good pair of shoes (in my case Asics) made the difference. A running store is the best place to go. We went to one a few weeks ago for my husband and they did a great job analyzing his gait and recommending the correct shoe. It's made a world of difference…
