Hey, Fat Girl!
I posted this a while back, and wanted to make sure that new people saw it. Many of us starting the "Couch-2-5K" program have felt like this 'fat girl' or 'fat boy'. I know I did. The first time I read this, I cried like a baby. I still well up. A short 7 weeks into this program, and while I'm still 'a fat girl', I run…

First 5K
Every single muscle in my body hurts, but I did it!!!!!!!!!!!!! I ran a 5K. I ran the whole thing too. Did not walk. I've been running for over 3 miles for a number of weeks now, but all my runs where in areas around me....flat pavement. This 5K was at a state park. It kicked my *kitten*. There were HUGE hills. I've never…

I FINISHED WEEK 9!!!!!!!!!
I did, I did!! Bright and early this morning, I started my run at 6:00am. I jogged...not fast...I'm sure I could have walked faster than I jogged...but I jogged. The voice on the app came on and said "You're done! Walk" (for the 5 minute cooldown), but I kept running. I ran 3.25 miles in 50 minutes. Definitely not the…

NSV - FRIDAY!
I looked at myself in the mirror today and I wasn't grossed out. For me, that is HUGE. I finally can truly see the positive changes in my body. I can see that all the work is paying off. What's your NSV? :)

W8D1 - DOWN!
This morning's run seemed a little tougher than past runs. My legs felt a lot 'heavier' than they have in the past. But, I did it. I've been trying to determine whether I like having music while I run or not, and have come to the conclusion that I don't. When I run in the mornings, I'm finding that I truly enjoy the dark,…

My glasses fog up....
Anyone else wear glasses? Mine fog up, especially if it's cool out, and my breath is warm. Anyone else have this problem? And if so, do you have a solution? I sometimes end up having to take my glasses off, which means I'm running blind because I can't see 10 feet in front of me!!!

Aches and Pains
I know that the ultimate answer here, is to see a doctor. I have, and she hasn't been very helpful...Figured I'd pose the question here, and based on responses maybe be better armed when I go back to the doc, or find a new one. I'm 44 years old. Yes, I'm overweight, but have been steadily losing for the past few months. My…

W6D3 DONE!
Supposed to run for 25 minutes, but I ended up running for 35. Each time my brain started to think my body was tired, I'd do a quick evaluation of how I was feeling and reminded my brain that all was good....and kept going. I can't freakin' believe I ran that long!!! I am so stoked! :D Week 7. Watch out!!

W5D2
Was dreading today.....the thought of running for 8 straight minutes was petrifying....... Breezed through it. Actually ran 13 minutes straight the second leg. So happy I could cry.

Hey, Fat Girl!
A good friend of mine posted the link to this blog post today. I had a hard time explaining to my co-workers why I was crying. I imagine that many of us here can relate to this, and draw strength from the message. http://flintland.blogspot.com/2012/05/hey-fat-girl.html?spref=fb

Week5 Day1
I killed it. I owned it. I am ready for D2! Bring it on!!! No words to say how freaking good I feel after this morning's run. I changed things up a bit, and did give myself a small advantage. I reversed my course so that I wouldn't have big hills to run up at the end. I figured if I was going to run for 3 five minute…

Dieter's nude self-portraits
A very powerful article. (Some nude/semi-nude pictures included. Probably NSFW, but certainly not 'crude' or 'pornographic' in any way) A woman who weighed 338lbs and was terrified of both cameras and her 'morbidly obese' title, decided to face her insecurities head on, chronicling the loss of half her body weight in a…

Hip Pain
Hiya, This is the weirdest thing. Since I started the program about a month ago, I've had pain at the top of my left hip. Not in the joint, but on the outer edge of the hip bone itself. It feels like I bruised my hip bone, but I know I haven't. Has anyone else had this sort of pain? The pain's not bad enough to make me not…

Over a mile....in one go!
I'm in middle of W3. I did D1 yesterday, but today, I just wanted to run. So I did. I ended up running over a mile (15 minutes) without stopping, and without being overly tired/winded. NO words to describe how freakin' awesome it felt!! Back to W3D2 tomorrow. :)

Week3 Day1
I had just finished W2D3 when I came down with bronchitis. Knocked me off my feet for a full week! Even while running a fever, I felt horrible that I was missing my runs. I waited until this morning (9 days later) to start back up. I thought I may have to repeat W2 since I hadn't done anything at all for over a week, but I…

W2D1 - Done Today
Is anyone else on the same schedule? Would love to have a 'buddy' here to keep track with. :)

Day One
I tried to do "day one" early this Spring and failed miserably. I was so tired and hurt by the time the 20 minutes was up, I didn't try again. Since then, I've really upped my general activity, and I've lost a few pounds. I decided to give it another try, and I have to say, that Day 1 was a BREEZE! I was so amazed at…

Happy Weekend!
Here's to a great weekend for all. May we have strength in sticking to our goals, and may we draw inspiration and drive from the world around us!
