Hip Pain

Hiya,
This is the weirdest thing. Since I started the program about a month ago, I've had pain at the top of my left hip. Not in the joint, but on the outer edge of the hip bone itself. It feels like I bruised my hip bone, but I know I haven't.
Has anyone else had this sort of pain? The pain's not bad enough to make me not be able to run, but it's definitely 'there' and I feel as though it shouldn't be.
Any thoughts?

I had this problem. It was my worn out shoes.I didn't take care of it right away so I had to take a few weeks off running. Don't ignore it! Go to a running store and they can help you out.0

It could be your IT band. Google stretches for it. I've also heard a foam roller helps really well.0

My shoes are practically brand new. Had them for about 6 weeks. They are extremely comfortable...BUT....my husband has to go and get new shoes, so I'll go with him and have an assessment done. Thanks for the idea!0 -

Thanks! I haven't heard of that....I will check it out too.0 -
Yep sounds like IT band to me too. I've had it on both hips. Agree with stretching & foam roller.
Ice the hip twice a day too and take Aleve. It really helps.
But if it persists you need to see a Dr. or chiropractor.0 -
IT Band. Cross you left foot over your right, lift your left arm and bend to the right to stretch it before and after running. My doc prescribed anti-inflamatories and told me to ice it after every run. Has gotten a lot better.0

and if you can't afford or find a foam roller, a pool noodle works just fine as well.0

Thank you very much. I will definitely do this. I ran this morning, and it doesn't hurt too bad, but I can feel it for sure.....Will do my stretches tomorrow morning!!0
