I train ferrets & I've been to Disneyworld over 40 times.

When I stepped on the scale and was disgusted by the number I saw, which was 20 lbs more than I even guessed it would be.

It's not the trade in and of itself. It's the fact that a pet owner thinks of their pet as a material object. It's probably in the animals best interest to get away from that person anyway.

This. I do foster & rescue and yes, people constantly spend $$$$$$ on animals and then get bored with them and dump them or try to sell them to recoup their costs. I can't even wrap my mind around "trading" a pet for a material object.
