  • Like Nike says: "Just do it." Seriously, if I let myself lay in bed and think about it, I don't get up. I just have to get out of bed and go when my alarm goes off without allowing myself to think about it. If I allow myself to make excuses as to why I can't go early, I will, so I just don't.
  • My son loves 5 guys and wants to go there all the time. I don't love it. Not even close. In fact, I don't even like it very well.
  • I use this recipe: http://allrecipes.com/recipe/fluffy-pancakes-2/ and I use 1% milk (you could use fat-free to lighten even further) and if I have egg substitute on hand, I will use that instead of an egg. (if the link doesn't come through, it is the recipe for "fluffy pancakes" on allrecipes.com. I've been using that…
  • This, exactly. Meal timing really makes no difference and in all honesty, I time the calories of my meals very much like yours: 200-300 for breakfast; 250-550 for lunch and the rest for dinner (I don't have the after dinner treats though). This works for me and allows me to eat a bigger dinner with my family, which I…
  • Me. When I crave a fast food burger (not often because I'd rather have a gourmet burger at home, but it does happen sometimes), I get either a Wendy's Jr. Deluxe cheese burger without mayo (290 calories) and value fries (220 calories) or a McDonald's cheeseburger happy meal (420 calories for the entire meal). Both…
  • Homemade pizza... yummmmm.... Homemade pizza is SUPER easy to fit in. You know exactly what is going into it, so you can easily track it. Bulk up on the veggies and lean proteins and lighten up on the cheese and you have a delicious, healthy pizza.
  • No, this is absolutely wrong. If you burn more than you consume, you will lose weight. It doesn't matter where the calories come from (for weight loss anyway) or when.
  • I eat burgers all the time. I've lost 85 pounds. I have cut NOTHING from my menu. I just plan for it now.
  • 85 pounds and counting. IIFYM/Flexible
  • I third. Weight loss isn't linear and you won't have consistent losses every single week. Be consistent and give it time and the scale will respond. Also, forget the cleanses! They are just nonsense and a complete waste of time and money. You have a liver and kidneys that cleanse your body just fine.
  • I'm on the bandwagon with this advice. Seriously OP, your relationship with food is not healthy. You need to talk to a professional and get some help.
  • How long have you been tracking calories? Are you weighing, measuring and logging EVERYTHING that you eat? Are you exercising? If you are, is this a new exercise to you? How old are you, how close are you to your healthy weight range and how much are you trying to lose? You really gave us too little information to give any…
  • I agree with the above. I am a diet soda drinker. I like the way it tastes and I enjoy it. I drink it with most meals, including breakfast sometimes. (I do drink water in between meals and when I am working out) I've lost 84 pounds. I have no intention of stopping my diet soda "habit" anytime soon. Unless you have a health…
  • I wish I could lose an average of 2 pounds a week. It's taken me 3 years to lose 97 pounds, which is NOT 2 pounds per week - it's closer to 2 pounds per month! Anyway, I'm still 97 pounds down. - Weight loss takes time and you have to be patient. You ARE losing weight. You just said you've lost 6 pounds in 3 weeks. That's…
  • I have to echo all the other responses. make sure you are weighing, measuring and logging everything you eat. Water retention due to new exercise can also mask weight loss. Just stay consistent and be patient. You didn't gain everything in 2 weeks and you aren't going to lose it in 2 weeks either.
  • This. I've lost a significant amount of weight because I faithfully weigh, measure and log my food daily. I've increased my cardio fitness by using the elliptical on a regular basis. The elliptical is actually my favorite cardio machine and I use it pretty regularly, but that isn't the reason I've lost weight. Weight loss…
  • I weigh daily regardless of where I am in my cycle. For me, it is just information and over the three years of doing this, it has helped me learn what my weight loss cycle looks like compared to my hormonal cycle. I can swing about 5 pounds with my hormones.
  • I was going to say these same things, but someone beat me to it.
  • I am 3 years in and 97 pounds down. I eat absolutely everything, just not every day. ;-) When I started losing weight, I decided that I needed to do something that I could sustain forever in order for it work and in order for me to keep any weight off that I did lose. Giving up entire groups of food wasn't going to work…
  • This. your husband is incorrect. I also have thyroid issues. While my weight loss may be slower than others', I certainly have lost weight (97 pounds actually). It's taken a while, but never, ever have I had to go to the gym for 3 hours a day to lose weight! In fact, many weeks, I'm hard pressed to go to the gym for a…
  • You lose weight in the kitchen and get fit in the gym. Start by tracking what you eat. Weigh, measure and log your food. Then bundle your baby in a stroller and go for a walk. No need to go to the gym. There are plenty of things you can do along with your baby. It was far easier to exercise when my son was an infant than…
  • Huh. 15 pounds down in 2.5 months. that's what, 10 weeks? So over a pound a week. that's pretty darned good, and in my humble opinion, not very slow at all. I started to get in shape at 4 months before my 41st birthday. Now, 3 years later, I am in the best shape of my life and happier than I've ever been. I lose slowly.…
  • Good for you. That's the best reason of all to get healthy - yourself! Three years ago, I was where you are now. That was 97 pounds ago and I feel like a completely different person - both inside and out. It's been a heck of a ride and worth every minute of my time and effort. Above all else, be patient and kind to…
  • I agree whole-heartedly with everything said here. Weight loss isn't a race and whatever you do to lose weight, you have to continue for the rest of your life to keep it off. So, eat the foods you like and enjoy and just learn how to eat them in moderation.
  • I think your outlook is FANTASTIC and I wish more people shared your views and the speed of weight loss. Your goal is so much more realistic and attainable. I see so many people who have a goal of 2 lbs/week and then are devastated when they can't achieve that or it takes more than a week to lose the weight they want to…
  • Unless you are avoiding carbs for a health reason (diabetes), there is no reason to go low-carb. Calories in vs. calories out is what matters. As long as you are eating at a deficit, you will lose weight.
  • This. Bogus as a weight loss tool. Just another myth making the rounds. Good as an ingredient in a cold tonic.
  • First of all be patient. Like I said in an earlier post, you didn't gain over night, you aren't going to lose it that way either. Weigh, measure and log your food. ALL of it. Always. You lose weight in the kitchen and get fit in the gym. If you eat at a deficit, you WILL lose weight (just not over night). Exercise to get…
